Tired.
Dead tired.
Olly feels like he's been awake for a thousand years and he just want to crawl into his bed and sleep. He let' out a groan and hits his head on the elevator wall closest to him and hit the button for the first floor. It's eight thirty and Miss Hopkins has been gone since seven but before leaving, she had dropped another huge stack of documents in front of Olly and had asked him to write a short review and now, it's eight thirty and all he wants to do is go home and fall asleep with half a mars bar in his mouth.
He's the only one in the elevator luckily and he lets out another groan. He's just itching to pull off his pants and just walk around free but he's pretty sure he has to get home to do such or he might lose his job or possibly be arrested for indecent exposure. Whichever one comes first.
The doors pulled open and Olly walks out, his hands already reaching up and packing his head into a loose bun.
"You should be casted for that tv show, The Walking Dead. You look like a zombie."
Olly was startled out of sleepy tired self and turned towards the direction of the voice and standing beside him was Sunny Polski, his former co-worker in the B.O.Department, in all his glory. The man pulled down his glasses down his nose a little and stared at Olly over the rims.
"Sunny, I'd love to chat, I swear but right now I think I'm seeing two of you and look man, I just want to sleep. The wicked witch had me working my ass off."
Sunny lets out a chuckle and wrapped an arm around Olly's shoulder, guiding him to the door. "The entire building knows. Do you want me to drive you home or ca-"
"Nah, my friends are waiting outside." Olly said as they near the revolving doors. Sunny nods and helps Olly towards the door.
Immediately they were outside, Olly spots Eden's Porsche and tells Sunny so. The man nods and waves Olly goodbye. Rami who had been leaning against the Porsche was the first to spot Olly, his face lighting up with his grin. He jogs the short distance towards Olly.
"You look rough." Rami said with a small frown on his face. "Is someone giving you a tough time? Do I need to give anyone a piece of my mind?"
Olly wants to tell his friend to have a go at Miss Hopkins but instead he just waves Rami off. "I'm fine. Just a little bit tired and sleepy." Olly replied and as they got closer to the car, Eden looked away from her phone. She snapped Olly out of his sleepy tired gaze by the loud scream she lets out.
"OLLY BEANN!"
She comes out of the car and walks over to Olly, pulling him into a tight hug. She squeezed him so tight that if he was a cartoon character his eyes would pop out of his head and roll away on the ground.
"Sweetie, you look tired. Have you eaten? What did you eat?" She asked and turns to Rami. "You still have your vitamin pills on you?"
Rami quickly pulls out the little circular container out of his pocket and hands it to Eden who quickly takes it from Rami. Olly shakes his head fondly at his friends, he places his hand over the container and stares at both of them. Eden styled her hair in her signature fringe, she had on a sparkly black crop top and a tight red leather skirt that stopped mid thigh with black ankle boots, Rami had on the same white shirt and black slacks he had on this morning. They both have mirrored looks of worry on their faces and Olly wants to dispel it.
"Can we just go to Charcoal Chicken? I'm starving."
"Sure. Let me quickly call my sponsor and reschedule our meeting for next week. Is that okay?" Eden asked, hand reaching up to tuck a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
"I can meet him tomorrow, Eden but today I just want it to be us, really good chicken and cold tropical drinks with little alcohol in it."
They all chuckle and make their way to the car. Eden sends a text quickly and pushes her phone into her pocket. Rami crawls into the backseat with Olly while Eden commandeers the car. Olly stretches over until he could reach the radio. He tampers with it until Eden slaps his hand away.
"If you touch it one more time, I will jam my phone up your asshole and twist."
Olly snatches his hand back quickly and leans back against the chair. Rami laughs and playfully shoves Olly's shoulder.
"I can feel the love, Eden."
He receives the middle finger in response. After a few seconds, Eden connects her phone with the car's Bluetooth and once its done, a soft tune starts playing. Olly was expecting something quiet and beautiful and it is just that the song wasn't in English or French or Italian. It was in...
"Is that Korean?"
"Yeah. My sponsor was listening to this in his car this morning and it sounded nice to I asked for the title and all." Eden said as she pulls to a stop at a red light.
The entire thing reminded Olly of something he had forgotten.
Of someone had forgotten.
He's reminded of that day when he left Joseph and ran into a cabbie who distracts him for a while. It's been three years but he remembers everything.
Well not everything.
He's forgotten what the man looked like.
And he just couldn't be blamed. He wanted to forget that day, to forget the man who rejected him because Olly had embarrassed himself by coming on too strong just hours after his break-up with Joseph the filthy. He has tried remembering the man's face but all he can remember were music, dancing, books, how amazing and free he felt with the man and ice cream. He's snapped out of it when Rami clear his throat, a knowing look on his face.
"So...Who's this mysterious sponsor?" Rami asked complete with air quotes, his question is directed at Eden but his gaze is on Olly.
"His name is Nicholas but he insists I call him Nick."
Olly sits up at that. His eyes were wide and his heart beat was increasing with each beat. It can't be the same Nick can it? People always say the world is small but it really can't be that small, can it? Olly shakes his head and took a deep breath. It can't be the same Nick because that one was a driver and apparently this Nick who sponsors Eden has a boat load of money. And the only Nicholas, Olly knows is the one he met today and he doesn't he want to think about the owner of the two thousand dollar shirt he might end up dry cleaning plus he's super sure, Mr. Petrie doesn't go by Nick.
Does he? He didn't look playful.
Olly frowns as he thought that about and the somewhat frightening thing is, Olly feels like he has heard his voice before but he couldn't place his finger on where and when. He's startled out of his thoughts again by Rami smacking him hard on his arm this time. Apparently they've gotten to Charcoal Chicken.
"You sure you're okay?" Eden asked, pushing the button to unlock the car doors.
"I'm fine. The wicked witch had me do errand for half of the departments in our building even though I am her personal assistant not everyone else's assistant." Olly groans again. "I just need to eat myself into a food coma and wake up bright and early tomorrow for work."
Eden opens her mouth about to say something when his phone rings. He pulls it out of his pocket and frowns when he sees its an unsaved number. He stared at his friends then at his phone before sliding the green button.
"Good evening, Mr Segel. This is Tobias DiLeo from Petrie Games, Human Resources management." The voice on the other end said and Olly's eyes widened in fear, oh god, his palms are starting to go sweaty.
"Good evening to you too, Mr DiLeo. How may I help you?" Olly said, ignoring the questioning looks his friends were giving him.
"This call is to inform you, that you have been transferred from the office of Executive Officer, Miss Melissa Hopkins to the CEO, Mr Petrie's office. Starting from nine o'clock tomorrow, you are to report to HR to sign a few papers before you begin as his personal assistant." Tobias goes on to say and Olly's jaw drops.
"I'm being transferred? What brought this on? Did I do something to Miss Hopkins?"
"I am not at liberty to say but the transfer has been accepted by Mr Petrie." Tobias said. "Nine o'clock tomorrow, Mr Segel." The man goes on to say.
"Nine o'clock tomorrow."
Tobias ends the call then and Olly feels too tired to think about it so he just accepts it, pushes his phone into his pocket and turns to his friends. "Let's go. I feel like I can eat entire horse by myself."
"You're not going to tell us what that was about?" Eden asked as they got out of the car.
"Apparently I'm being moved from the witch's office to that of the CEO and I start at nine tomorrow."
Eden narrows her eyes at Olly and then burst into a loud laugh. She pulls Olly in for another bone crushing hug. "It's a win-win. You get another promotion and you leave the evil witch alone. You don't have to see her unless it's necessary."
They were interrupeted by the loud sound of Rami's stomach growling. Eden and Olly turn to him with raised brows. The other man shrugged and brought his hands up.
"What? I'm hungry! I thought you had something good planned so I didn't eat so I'd have more room for whatever food from whatever fancy restaurant you take us to."
Olly and Eden laugh. Olly tucks himself into Rami, leaning up a little to press a kiss to Rami's neck, receiving a kiss to the forehead in return. Beside them, Eden fake vomits. She rolls her eyes when she finds Olly and Rami giving her a fond smile and together they walk into the charcoal chicken.
They place their order and choose a booth. They eat, laugh and talk about their day. Rami feeds Olly his fries, Eden steals a sip from Olly's tropical drink and Rami steals a bit of Eden's chicken. They're this well oil machine and sometimes Olly finds himself whishing he had met them earlier but he's so happy he's found them.
"What are you thinking about, babe?" Rami asked, wiping a stray ketchup stain from the side of Olly's mouth with his finger.
Olly smiles up at the man. "Nothing really. Just a little thankful."
Rami presses a kiss to his hair in response and turns back to Eden. They resume talking about what movie they can see tomorrow night. Rami and Olly want to see AnnabEllie's creation but Eden wants to see The Hitman's Bodyguard.
"If you get scared you can just sit between us." Olly tells Eden when she said she got scared just watching the trailer.
"Okay, how about we watch AnnabEllie's creation first then the Hitman's bodyguard to push the fear out of us afterwards? We'll get nachos and scream instead of pop corn." Rami offers.
"Fine but I'm not watching IT with you too. I read the book and couldn't sleep for a week. There's something wrong with Stephen King. Who writes disturbingly dark things like that?"
Rami snorts. "Have you read anything by HP Lovecraft?"
Rami goes to ramble on about an evil clergyman and another story named the shunned house when Olly and Eden both tell him no. They stay there for an hour and half, talking, eating and booking movie tickets and by ten Eden had pulled to a stop in front of Rami and Olly's shared apartment building. They both get down from the car, Rami kisses Eden goodnight through the car's window and Olly did the same too.
"See you tomorrow, Olly bean and Rami-Boo!"
"Dotn call me that."
"Love you too, Rami boo!" Eden cackles and drives off.
Olly laugh when Rami lets out an angry shout. To snap Rami out of it, Olly broke off into a run and jumps on Rami's back, the latter caught him with ease, his hands holding Olly tight as he walks into the building. As they get into the elevator, Olly felt his fatigue creep up on him again but this time stronger, Rami's spicy smell calming him down more and making him sleepier. He'll deal with tomorrow, tomorrow. He'll deal with rich stuck-up guys tomorrow and angry, rude witches tomorrow but right now he wants to crawl into bed and fall asleep with half of his face pressed into his pillow.
And that's what he did.
