Chapter Three

1178 Words
When I heard Alpha Jackson call me his mate, it felt like the moon goddess had finally heard my cries and decided to show me mercy. I didn’t care that he might not love me. For someone like me, love is the last thing I’d hope for especially when it comes to being mated. I just wanted to be accepted… nothing more. I tried sniffing to see if I could smell him but since I didn’t have a wolf, my sense of smell wasn’t there too. But as Alpha Jackson’s hand comes in contact with my skin, a jolt of electricity shoots through me and I finally catch his scent. He smelt just like a blooming flower.. it was a wonderful scent. For a very brief moment, I thought that things would finally change for me and I would finally be accepted in the pack. But, I was wrong. Once again, the moon goddess had failed me. “You will continue to live your life outside the pack house. It will be a thing of shame if anyone is to find out about your existence.” He said coldly without sparing me a look. “More importantly, King Sebastian will be in here in a few days. Leave the city if you must. We cannot risk him finding out about you.” He finished and walked away. The mate bond wasn’t fully severed as I had not verbally rejected it but did it matter? The deed had been done already. My heart was shattered. This rejection was too much for me to handle. In all my four years of living as an omega in the pack territory, I have not dared dreamt of living a happy life.. not once but Alpha Jackson brought back that happiness only to take it back in a span of ten minutes. My knees gave up on me the second he turned away from me but he didn’t even notice. Even if he did, he didn’t care. I wasnothing but a lowly wolfless omega so he didn’t even need to use his Alpha aura when speaking to me because I wasn’t worth it. Now in my little apartment, I stay curled up on my bed, hot tears flowing from my eyes and no matter how much I tried to calm myself, I end up crying harder. How could the moon goddess be so cruel to me? What did I ever do to deserve a life like this? I tried distracting myself with various thoughts but all I could see was his handsome face and captivating eyes. I must be so stupid! How could I even see myself worthy of an alpha? Even if he had nothing against me, rejecting me was the right thing to do. I should’ve known this from the start. After three hours of tears and deep thinking, I finally fall asleep. * * Third Person’s POV The entire werewolf kingdom was in a stand still as King Sebastian Reynolds, King of the Lycans would be paying the Night Howl pack a visit. It was a once in a life time visit that every Alpha looked forward to and Alpha Jackson was one of the lucky Alphas to be blessed with his presence. It was a busy day for the Night Howl as preparations were being made for his arrival. A party was to be held to welcome him and Alpha Jackson was going to make it the biggest party of the year. They would be hosting the king after all. Ava, on the other hand, laid on her bed and scrolled through her phone, reading about the Lycan King. She had never seen him before but his pictures were all over the Internet. It was a way of taking her mind off the rejection and so far, it was working. From what she had read, he was a 6ft6 Lycan who had the physical features of a Greek God. Another fun fact about him was that he was only twenty eight years old. Women flocked to him like moth to a flame, both werewolves, Lycans, Vampires and even humans. He was also the richest man alive as his wealth was more than a thousand years old from his forefathers. King Sebastian Reynolds was the most powerful man on earth. But, with all his wealth and power, he still didn’t have a mate. Thousands of women have begged to be his chosen but he rejected them all as he was bent of waiting for his fated mate. “This man is going to be at the pack house today.” She muttered to herself as she stared at his picture with her mouth wide open. Ava sighed sadly as she remembered the words of Alpha Jackson, warning her to not show her face on the day King Sebastian was to arrive. He even suggested that she leaves the city for the day just to prevent running into him. But, Ava was stubborn. “I just have to be careful so that they don’t notice me. I’m not going to miss out on the opportunity of seeing the most powerful man to ever exist.” She whispered before rushing into her closet to pick out the perfect clothes for a disguise. An hour later, she was dressed in a black gown that she bought a few months ago with her entire pay cheque just because she liked it. A terrible decision then as she had to starve for days after that. But, as she stared at her reflection in the mirror, she thought that maybe it wasn’t such a bad idea. She finished the look with a black fancy mask that hid her face properly. It was a way of blending in with the crowd as most of the guests were rich and classy. “Let’s risk it, Ava. Alpha Jackson won’t kill you.” She assured herself before heading to the pack house. At exactly 6pm, Ava walked into the pack house and just as she had expected, it was packed with people. Calm music and light chatter filled the ballroom. Avoiding the eyes of everyone, she moved to the front so she would get a clear view of the Lycan King when he arrives. But, she had forgotten that her mate bond with Alpha Jackson had not been severed completely. The second Alpha Jackson walked into the ballroom with King Sebastian, he smelt her. That same flowery scent. It was bit faint but he knew he wasn’t wrong. She had defiled him and attended the party. “This way, King Sebastian.” He said, guiding the king to his seat as people gave way for them, bowing in respect as they walked by. As Sebastian got to the front, a strong honey scent hit his nostrils. One that he had never perceived before. It was sweet and intoxicating. He traced the scent until his eyes landed a black haired beauty who had her head bowed and her face covered. Immediately his Lycan stirred awake. “Mate!” It roared.
