Lydia.
Sunday mornings was always one of my most hectic days, as I battled to complete my projects given over the weekend and also deal with Jasmines moans that echoed through our apartment. I moved from place to place, before finally placing my head on the table, with hopes that I would be able to concentrate, yet, the banging from Jasmine's room, shook my table that instead of resting, my head kept on slamming the plastic table and with that I couldn't hold it in any longer.
"Jasmine!" I banged on Jasmine's room door continuously until she opened up. "I know the s*x is good, I can hear it, but please can you calm it down so I can get somethings done." I spoke the moment Jasmine opened up her door, fully naked, with brunette hair like that of a birds nest, while her breath heaved.
"Sorry babe," Jasmine said with a smile on her lips to me, as she didn't let me say another word before she shuts the door and resumed her affairs. Thankfully, she heeded to my words and this time it was bearable. Leaving what I was doing got me out of concentration, as I was no longer in the mood to do work on my projects, rather I brewed a hot cup of coffee and took the remote in my hand while I sat on the couch in our living room. It was just I and Jasmine who lived in our apartment of two big sized rooms, a well furnished kitchen and a parlor set with a huge Tv screen, in the middle of Manhattan. Our house rent was quite in the minimum to expensive when looked at, as we paid a sum of $3500 per month, which was spilt into two between i and Jasmine. I recalled my first year of college, when I could hardly afford a rent of $500 per month, as going to the most prestigious school of art in New York city drained every penny I had, including working at a coffee shop close to the school. Which was why, where ever I saw anyone in whatever job they did, as long as it wasn't stealing or illegal, I couldn't blame them, for the hustle was real and it wasn't easy on these streets.
The door to Jasmine door slid open, as I watched her and another guy whom I'm not familiar with come out of her room, whereas my mouth hung open, as the guy smacked her ass, and she wiggled out her tongue at him, whereas my open mouth turned into laughters.
"Hey baby girl," Jasmine with a smile on her face, walked towards me in her black robe, while the guy walked out.
"Who was that?" I asked Jasmine as she joined me on the couch.
"A guy I met yesterday at the club." Jasmine said and my gaze raised at her words. "What?... you..."
"Don't even go there Jasmine. You met him at the club and he's already at your bed, what about the one from last week and the other from upper week? They were also from the club." My gaze turned solemn at Jasmine.
"Don't blame me, you're the one who is always busy with this and that client." Jasmine said.
"But it doesn't mean I'm bringing them to my bed Jasmine. I'm not judging and you know I'm not. I'm only saying you should take it slow. Most of these guys just want a one thing." I told Jasmine, as my tone came softer to her.
"Exactly. Which is why I want it to be that for me too. I'm done with love Lydia. I'm done with trying to find a guy who loves me. We all know how that turned out with Jared, Steven and the others." Jasmine said, and I went silent.
"I know jaz, I know...all I'm saying is for you to just take it slow okay? There are still good guys out there and you are such a beautiful woman that any man should be proud to have." I told Jasmine, while my lips curled into a weak smile. "Come here," I pulled Jasmine to me, as she now rested on my breasts while I pecked her head. "And don't you ever use my work as an excuse to go to the club without me." I said, whilst Jasmine chuckled, while we faced the Tv. "Do you know what Jaz?" I asked my best friend.
"You're pregnant?" Jasmine said and my hand stretched to smack her ass. "You can do that again, baby." Jasmine teased and I chuckled loudly.
"f**k off." Jasmine continued laughing.
"Okay I'm listening, what is it?" Jasmine spoke.
"You smell like sex." I told her, whereas another chuckle escaped her lips. I watched Jasmine laugh, as a smile of amusement took to my lips, while I watched my best friend. Her dimple on her left cheek stayed evident, while her thick black eyebrows furrowed each time. Jasmine Henshaw, my friend since childhood.
"Don't be jealous that you haven't had a man sucked you up in a while." Jasmine mocked me.
"You don't have to insult me, I can feel the s****l tension building up. It's been over a year now." I admitted.
"Damn girl, you didn't tell me you were celibate now." Jasmine continued to mock me.
"I'm not jaz, it's just I've been trying to make up enough cash that it was the only thing on my mind and ever since Finn, I just figured it's for the best." I confessed.
"Well, I'm not sitting with you like this next week, we're going to the club on Friday, I don't care what it is you have to do. Cancel it all." Jasmine stated authoritatively, whereas I nodded positively unable to refuse her request, before I chuckled. Jasmine and I remained in the living room, as though we didn't have assignments to submit, while we watched Tv programs until the door bell rang.
"I'm not getting up." I said instantly.
"I'm not getting up too." Jasmine said and I chuckled as it was an act we displayed when the both of us felt lazy to get the door. The door bell rang again and my gaze turned to Jasmine who pretended as though there was nothing happening.
"b***h," I joked before getting up from the couch, whereas Jasmine had a smirk on her lips at my defeat. I opened the door, as I saw it to be I and Jasmine other best friend, Scott, who he stood by the door.
"Hey baby girl," Scott pulled me into a hug as he got in, while my hands wrapped around him.
—————
Third Person's POV.
"Hey baby boy," Lydia teased Scott whom was her best friend, as it was a title the both gave themselves.
"Hey Scotty," Jasmine acknowledged her best friend also form where she sat on the couch.
"How you doing Jaz?" Scott and Lydia left the door, as they moved to the couch to join Jasmine, with Scott at the middle and the other two by his side each.
"Oh s**t!" Lydia cursed, whereas the other two turned to face her.
"What is it?" Jasmine asked Lydia.
"I f*****g forgot that I had a meeting with a Client today." Lydia told the two.
"Well get your ass up and go bring that money for us." Jasmine hyped her friend, which made Lydia to chuckle, whereas Scott remained motionless with no word uttered.
"Give yourself a break. It's Sunday." Scott eventually spoke, as it wasn't new to the girls that Scott didn't fancy Lydia work, for his excuse remained that 'she met strangers who could be dangerous on a daily basis.' Lydia did not pay attention to Scott's words by having dismissed it and got up from the couch to her room, leaving Jasmine and Scott to be alone.
"Why not tell her the main reason why you do not like her job." Jasmine spoke as she neither turned her gaze to Scott but remained them on the Tv, nor does she show emotion while she spoke, as one would assume she didn't speak to Scott. Scott on the hand , knowing quite well that Jasmine spoke to him, for indeed he did have a reason as to why he didn't fancy Lydia's job, yet, it was a reason he couldn't find himself to say.
How was he to put it? Scott thought.
How was he to tell his best friend Lydia, that he liked her, and not just that, but loved her in a romantic manner? It was a very big risk he wasn't willing to take, for he knew Lydia didn't feel the same as him, and that could end their friendship and even if it didn't, they definitely won't be as close as they were in present.
"You know I can't." Scott said.
"Well, shaming her job is just going to make her distant herself from telling you about it." Jasmine told Scott, as this time she faced him.
"What is your suggestion then, Jaz?" Scott was caught in a crossword, as he was left dumbfounded on what to do about a girl whom he has had a crush on every since he met her.
"I told you. Tell her or take it off your mind and just be her friend, but keep on shaming her job, you just push her away. That is my advise." Jasmine spoke honestly, for if anyone was to know Lydia the most, it was her and from what she knew, she could tell Lydia didn't have such feelings towards Scott, yet, it didn't mean she couldn't, as she was not going to be the cause of her best friend to remain single.
