Freedom with a twist

After Nino left before I went to bed, I had to decide what was important to me freedom or a new dangerous life hanging with Eli? Nino wouldn't even hesitate to kill Eli if I choose him. What kind of person will kill their best friend over a girl? I don't know what to do anymore when it comes to Eli, but the truth is I want to be free dating whoever I want. I want to be free to go outside and drive to places where I won't get followed.

So I want to be free. Free from all of these problems with Nino and Eli that's causing me so much grief. Every day I wake up to myself thinking how the hell am I going to get out of this place, or if Nino was going to save me or something.

Eli is a great person don't get me wrong, but if I actually got with him, I will still be here connected to all of this gang violence s**t. I don't want to be with Eli if Nino is going to be around all the time watching us, and knowing Eli he's just going to say he doesn't matter anymore since we together or you don't have to come you can stay home and crap. I know Eli is going to be hurt when I tell him I'm going to end this with him, but this is for him. This is for him to see he needs to get out of this mess and live a normal life, and away from the police chasing them.

I get out of bed, yawning hard as I let my feet touch the floor. I start to stretch seeing my body is stiff. I glance over to Sky bed, seeing she's not here, and I remember her telling me she was going to be visiting her mother. I groan seeing that I'll be alone.

I walk over to the kitchen opening the refrigerator to take out ingredients for breakfast. A knock on the door makes me pause and I quickly wipe my hand and proceed to the look through the peep hole. A man dressed in all black is standing waiting for me to greet him. Confusion is set on my face as the man begins to pound on the door again harder this time.

"I know you here ma'am." The man's voice is heard on the other side of the door. I sigh deeply as I unlock the locks and open the door. We stand in front of each other not saying a word. The all black on him with his muscles popping out was making me feel uncomfortable, because he looked like a bodyguard that could do some damage. His expression was neutral as he took out something out his pocket looking between the object and myself. I'm guessing it was a photo of me.

He takes out a very small phone which look like a track phone and dial the number before handing it to me. I raise my eyebrows and he nods his head at me to take it. I grab the phone from his hand carefully and place it on my ear. waiting for whoever it is to talk.

"Shorty?" I already know who it is just by his voice, and him calling me shorty. I don't say anything and he calls me again.

"Look shorty I had to make sure you were okay after leaving you there with Nino. I wanted to stay, but when you told me to step out a nigga got pissed and wanted to do some more damage." I sigh after he says this.

"I'm okay Eli, I am really. I thought you would off waited, but I understand in your point of view where you are coming from." I reply back to him.

"Come meet me for breakfast."

"I can't"

"I wasn't asking beautiful."

"You not here, so how..."

"My homeboy that's in front of you can bring you to me." My eyes wander to the man that's in front of me. His eyes never left where I was standing.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, he's harmless unless some s**t goes down, and plus he don't hit women."

"I don't know Eli after last night..."

"f**k that I told you I want you."

"So what are you trying to say?"

"Why don't you come to me and we can talk about it."

"Okay." I said, sighing since I really wanted to know what is he going to do. We end the conversation and I hand the man back. I close the door, letting him stand there waiting for me as I go and hop in the shower.

After showering, I quickly made my way to the closet looking for a casual outfit to wear since I'm just meeting with Eli to talk. I settled with a nice white flowing shirt and denim long rip jeans with sandals. I made sure to put everything back in the refrigerator that I took out to cook. I sprayed on some perfume and proceed to the door, seeing the man standing next to the door waiting. I sent a small smile to him, which he nods his head over to me.

We walked in silence side by side as we enter the elevator. As the elevator closes he turns to me.

"Do you want to pretend to sleep in my arms or take the shot?"

"Pretend." I quickly say as he nods he's head and picks me up bridal style. Once the elevator stop I shut my eye's hard listening to the surrounding of the man walking. Once again there's a chorus of greeting to the man. I can tell we're outside now by the way my eyelids got lighter. I can smell the outside with the fresh grass that's been cut. The man that's carrying me stops walking.

"You can open your eyes." The man told me as he begins to lower me down to the ground. He unlocks the car door and I slip in putting on my seatbelt.

When we get to the desired location, the man told me to get out and follow him. we enter an apartment complex going into the elevator. The awkward silence was now between us as the elevator instrumental music was playing. As soon as the elevator stops at our floor to exit the man begins to walk out with me following behind. He stops at a door which have the number 319, and he knocks three times hard and loud. I can hear the person on the other side which I'm hoping it's Eli trying to unlock the locks fast. He's head pops out from behind his door and once his eye lands on me he smiles automatic.

"Thanks Greg, I owe you." Eli tells the man. the man nods his head and turns swiftly on his heel walking away. I look back to Eli as he opens his door wide enough for me to enter. His place was dark with the curtains blocking the sunlight. I hear Eli shut the door behind him, and I drink at his place. There wasn't anything fancy about his place, if anything, it was like he just moved in here. There were boxes on top of boxes everywhere.

"I just got this place." Eli voice roams out answering my thoughts. I nod my head staying quiet. The only thing roaming through my mind is Nino and the conversation we had the other night. I don't know how to bring it up. How can I tell Eli that I don't want anything to do with him? and that I want my freedom instead.

"Do you want to go out for breakfast? I know you haven't gone out to a real place in a good while." Eli asks me. When I don't say anything he talks.

"Thanksgiving is around the corner, if you want I can take you with me to my family so you can have a real meal." My eyes widen a little as he says this. I shake my head.

"No, thank you I don't want to interrupt family time."

"So you can speak now." Eli says smiling over to me.

"I know you want to be with your family." I sigh nodding my head.

"I miss them."

"Why don't you go back..."

"And say what? I was kidnap and I was able to escape my killer?"

"Why don't you..."

"You crazy, knowing my family they going to want my psycho killer head and sent to jail."

"Don't you want your life back?"

"I do, but I want a new life and..." I pause as I watch Eli face. This is it. This is what Nino wants me to do, to break Eli.

"And what?" Eli question me. He takes a step forward as I take a step back. I sigh, trying to calm my heart down.

"I want a new life without you..."

"Don't start this bullshit man." Eli cuts me off.

"I'm here for you, I want you shorty and you are telling me you want a new life without me after you told me you got feelings for me too?" I shut my eyes as he continues to rant about us being together.

"You got me messed up. I stood up for you...

"Nino will kill you if you don't leave me alone!" I yelled at him as I cover my mouth with my hands. Eli gets quiet eyeing me down hard.

"What you said?"

"Nothing, maybe I should go." I said walking around him only to be stopped by his hand grabbing my elbow.

"You ain't going nowhere until you repeat what you said." Eli says to me.

"Nino told me last night if I didn't break whatever it is between us, then he doesn't mind killing you and I won't be free." I whisper the last part to him. Eli stays quiet as I look down to the ground waiting to hear what he's going to tell me.

"Let me come with you." Eli says. My head snaps back up to him as we stare at each other.

"what do you mean?"

"Let me come with you to your new life. Just me and you together. We can have a normal life together."

"I don't know what to say." I honestly didn't know what to say. I felt like he was asking me to marry him. Eli coming with me was going to cause a lot of things for the both of us.

"Say yes." Eli tells me.

"No." I answer him back.

"No? why, we can finally get together..."

"Nino will kill you if you even think about that."

"If it's my time then it's my time."

"No, it won't be your time because you're setting yourself up."

"Then fine." Eli says taking in a deep sigh. He looks to be deep in thoughts as I look around to sit. I spot a small chair and I begin to walk over to it slowly. As I begin to lower my ass onto the chair, what Eli says next has me frozen with my jaw hanging out and staring into his eyes.

"Nino won't kill me if I'm with you, because I'll kill Nino myself...."
