Chapter Twenty Four:
An argument with the manager.
—
“I don't understand, Mrs. Evans.” I responded to her question and noticed how her eyebrow raised at my answer. “You have no right to reject my Project Proposal since you’re not the one who has a say on that. It is only your job to pass my proposal to the higher ups and it’s their decision to make whether they would reject or accept my submission. I think you forgot that I was aware of that and my sister had also informed me about it. You know, in case you’d reject it. I didn’t know that she’d be right about that.” I ranted, although I was trembling in anger, I had managed to tell that to her.
What did she think of me?
That I didn’t even do my research about the rules for the selection process? I am not dumb as she think I am. Moreover, Maxwell informed me that a manager has no right to reject a proposal since the proposal I did was for the entire company, not just for our team. So it would be the panel’s decision whether they would reject my proposal or not.
“This f*****g b***h!” She spat, seemingly unable to form much more decent words so she retorted to calling me profanities.
I held my chin up, “I do not like the tone of your voice, Mrs. Evans. Also, refrain from calling me names. We are in a workplace, being professional is a must.” My voice was stern and was full of authority. Even if she was my manager, I wouldn’t let her disrespect me in such a manner.
She stood up and was ready to lunge at me, appearing to grab me by my hair but I blocked her arm mid-air and caught it in my grasp.
“I will not tolerate this!” She yelled, and by the looks of it I already knew that my colleagues were looking at us through the glass window. So I knew that I have people to back up my statement if ever this gets out of hand.
“Same goes for me, Mrs. Evans. I will not tolerate your unfairness and your disrespect.” I responded then glanced toward the glass window wherein there’s already a commotion outside as my teammates were gawking at us and are probably hearing our words. I almost smiled when I noticed Dianne with a phone in her hand and is probably taking a video already.
Mrs. Evans staggered backwards as she saw my colleagues. She had backed away from me with much proximity as she stood in front of her desk, gripping tightly on the edge of the wooden table. She’s probably holding it back to throw hands at me.
“Leave my office, now.” She hissed at me while her eyes shot daggers at me.
“No, Mrs. Evans. I—” Before I could finish my sentence, she had interjected.
“LEAVE. MY. OFFICE. NOW!” She screamed at me as she demanded to be followed.
Instead of abiding her demand, I stood firmly in my place. Showing her that I have no intention of leaving the room not until I get what I want.
“We will settle this the right way.” I muttered to her, my calm voice had surprised me. “You will accept my submission for the proposal or else I will directly submit this to the higher-ups.” I told her with much conviction.
Her eyes widened at my words as she faced me fully, both her hands were curled into a fist. “Are you threatening me?” She sneered.
I nodded at her, not hiding the fact that I am indeed threatening her at this very moment. She had left me with no other choice. If only she had accepted my submission, then we wouldn’t be in this situation.
“You’re giving me no other choice not to. You’re going to accept my submission then pass it to the higher-ups. It’s the right thing to do and it is what needs to be done.” I dictated at her and her stares only intensified with my words.
When I noticed that she looked resigned and unable to reply back, I stride towards her place then neatly put the hard copy of my proposal on her desk. I could feel her urge to grab my hair and pull it so f*****g hard that I might get bald but I paid no attention to her fuming madness.
I raised my head then stared at her in the eyes and smiled. “Thank you, Mrs. Evans.” Then pivoted my heels then began to head towards the door when she spoke.
“Mrs. Quinn,” She muttered, causing me to stop in my tracks and look back at her, “You’re going to pay for this.”
I smirked at her upon hearing her words, "Beats me."
