Caedan’s POV
I need to get her to come with me before the warriors find us again. I’m not sure how they found us in the first place. If I can’t get her to trust me, I may have to glamour her. I don’t mind using glamour to get around little obstacles like when I have no ID, or how I sold the gems and gold. I always make it fair though. I never steal anything, and always give extra for their troubles.
Getting close to her with her dogs in front of her protecting her is going to be an issue though. I never would’ve harmed her dogs. I love dogs. We don’t have them on Zare because wolves are the perfect form. There was no need for the evolution. Also, it doesn’t help that, unless we are in a solid form in our visits like now, dogs can’t see us. We’re usually balls of light to them. I’ve tried to bond with dogs before on my visits, but the bond hasn’t been strong enough to where they can make it through the portal.
“Look princess, I am Caedan. I’m here to take you to your home. I promise I won’t hurt you, but I need you to come with me now.” “What are you talking about home? I am home.” “No princess, your home is not here, it's somewhere else.” I said. There was a loud noise as if a whole lot of metal or something was knocked over or thrown. “Oh no, they found us. We need to go now. I would like you to come willingly, but I can make you if you refuse.” I materialized the crystal and chanted the words to open the portal to Vedan city. No one can portal into Castle Zavaria. It’s going to take a few minutes for the portal to open.
Next thing, the warriors were standing in the field across from the house we were standing outside of. “F**k we’re out of time.” I said to her. She had turned to see them and so did her dogs. The dogs began to viciously snarl and growl again while technically moving behind her to protect her from the warriors. I guess they realized I’m not a threat or not as big a threat as the warriors. I don’t know how a warrior from the fire kingdom found out about her, but I will find out. I’m sure my father has something to do with this. I recognize the outfits of my father’s elite warriors with the other two.
So, he didn’t trust me to bring her back to him. I was going to, but I was going to have her possibly defeat or kill my father if necessary if she was the heir. I don’t care what happens after that as long as he doesn’t have power over Zare, and I can take the throne of Varyn in the shadow kingdom.
The warrior with the daggers threw a dagger at the dogs, but they were too quick and jumped, causing the dagger to hit the ground underneath the dogs and skid away before their paws touched the ground again. “Come with us princess.” The one holding the scythe said. “NO!” She hollered at him. “And I’m not a princess.” She was pointing her knife at them now. “You will come with us one way or another.” He said.
The fire warrior flung his chakram at her. The circular blade was on fire, and it came for her. She took a stance and in the blink of an eye she deflected it to the ground. Now was the time for my mouth to be agape, but I had to snap out of it. The portal was opening behind me. Those chakrams are so fast it's near impossible to deflect them, as she has just done. Her dogs ran at the warriors without thought and began attacking them. They were too fast usually for the warriors to anticipate their next moves. It almost looked like the dogs were in sync with each other in their attack.
The warrior with the scythe was able to hit the black dog and knock her unconscious. “NO!” She screamed. The white dog was running at the black dog, but before anyone could blink, she bit three fingers off the warrior with the scythe on his left hand. He dropped his scythe and the other warriors started running for us. I ran up to the princess and grabbed her by the waist from behind. She was struggling and repeatedly saying, “No.” She had dropped her knife when the black dog was hit.
I ran back to the portal and shoved her behind me. The portal wasn’t completely open yet. If we go through, I don’t know where in Zare we’ll end up. I am going to have to take that chance, but I must give it as much time as I can so if the warriors make it through, they won’t land near us. I watched as the white dog was nuzzling the black dog. The black dog lifted it’s head. That’s a relief. The warriors were almost to us. I spun around and picked her up and ran into the portal.
