*Adelina POV* I sat staring at the stick on the counter. Pregnant. Holy crap. Please, goddess, don't let it be multiples again. I knew it could happen, and we weren't necessarily trying to avoid it, but I'll be damned if I'm ready for more. I am the furthest from ready. Now, I had to figure out how to tell Gunner and my family. I knew they would be happy for us, but I also know that I am going to get a massive lecture from one of my dads about how careless it was to get pregnant when there is so much danger surrounding our family at the moment. It wasn't like it was planned to align with impending danger. Once the lecture was over, they would then congratulate us, and be happy that they got to be granddads again. We are leaving for Silver Howl later this afternoon, and will be there for at least a week. It will be good to see my aunt and uncle, and I need to be with my sisters. Gunner is going to be one of the lookouts for Damian's challenge against his brother Lance. Maddix and Donavon are taking all the measures they can, so they can assure that Lance and his people don't cheat. Alette told me Damian had a strong gut feeling that they would try something shady. I grabbed the stick off of the counter, and made my way to my mate's office. I knocked softly before entering, and he looked up at me from his paperwork. "Hey baby girl, what brings you in here this early?" he asked. I climbed up in his lap, and laid my head against his chest. Without speaking, I handed him the little test stick. "Addie? Are you?" Gunner stammered. I nodded my head, and waited for his reaction. He wrapped his arms around me and crashed his lips on mine. He was so excited that he was going to be a dad again, and his actions showed it. In the midst of his excitement, he suddenly became somber. "Adelina, what if...what if you have problems like last time?" he asked. I told him that I could also go through this pregnancy with zero issues, and that we couldn't live in a what-if mentality. He finally calmed down, and promised he wouldn't stress and worry about something happening. Goddess knows we don't need that negative ju-ju around here. "Are you packed?" he asked. I shook my head and told him that I had gotten as far as getting the kids' bags packed, and that I needed to pack ours. He told me he would be up in a minute to help, and I told him to finish paperwork, and get Ginger and her mate up to speed, since they were staying behind to watch over the pack. Phoenix was staying back as well, but only because Lindy was due at any second. Ginger had strict instructions not to bother my brother unless it was a dire necessity. I pulled out our large suitcase, and threw it on the bed. I unzipped it and was surprised at what was inside. It had several pairs of pants and a couple of button-up shirts that belonged to Miles, my former mate. I haven't used this suitcase since before the babies were born, and I went to Blood Moon to stay with Alette, Asteria and Riley in the library bunker when my former mate attacked them. I instantly started to panic, and Gunner must have felt it because he ran through the door not long after. "Babe, what's wrong?" he asked. I couldn't speak, but I shook my head and pointed to the suitcase. "I..I..I forgot to unpack this after.." I stammered. He enveloped me in a bear hug and helped calm me down. "Let me take care of those, and just remember he can't hurt you anymore. No one will ever hurt you again. Alright?" he whispered. I thanked him and went into the bathroom to splash some water on my face. It's crazy that, after all this time, just seeing something as simple as Mile's clothing sets me off in a panic. I sat on a stool we had by the bathtub, and kept wiping my face with a cool washcloth. Gunner popped his head in, and told me that the clothing had been disposed of. I asked him if he could just dispose of the whole suitcase, because I was afraid it would still trigger me. I had several others we could use, so it wouldn't be a huge loss. He did as I asked, and when I heard him leave, I got the other suitcase and started to pack our things, so we could leave. By the time Gunner returned, we were all packed and ready to go. The cook had gotten some snacks and drinks ready for the kids, and I stopped to grab them as Ginger and Gunner loaded the kids into the SUV. "I wish you could go too, Ginger. I'm sure you could help more than anyone," I teased. "Me too, but honestly, I would rather be here than anywhere near Spirit Mountain during that challenge. I think that place is seriously cursed," she replied. "It definitely seems to draw a lot of negativity and horrible situations. Alette has said she feels like there is always a dark cloud looming over them. Even on sunny days," I told her. I gave her a hug and told her I would call when we got there. I waved goodbye as we drove off, and Phoenix's voice entered my head. "Quit worrying, she will do fine. Plus, I am here just in case," he said. My big brother always knew exactly what to say, and I knew I could trust his word. I needed to relax and, considering what we were driving towards, I wasn't sure if I would be able to. "So, when do you want to tell everyone? Before or after the challenge?" Gunner asked. "Honestly, I was hoping to see a doctor before we told them. Just for confirmation before we spill the beans," I replied. I knew I could trust my aunt Rebecca to be discreet and not tell anyone, including uncle Jason, so I called her to see if she could get me in to see their pack OB/GYN. Thankfully, she was only with Trinity when I called. She said she would get hold of their gynecologist and go to the pack house before venturing to Silver Howl. I told Gunner the plan, and he said he would stay with the kids and let Rebecca go with me. Something about that felt wrong, and I insisted he go with me. "Do you not want to go?" I asked. He insisted he did, and that he was just being mindful of our little ones. I told him that Jason, Rebecca and Trinity would be more than willing to watch over them. I needed him with me, more than he realized. Just as I predicted, as soon as we pulled in front of the pack house, Rebecca and Trinity were there to swoop in and get the kids. Gunner chuckled and whispered, "You called it, didn't you?" I gave him a knowing look and c****d my head at him. "I know them very well," I said. Rebecca shooed us off to go see the doctor, and I tried to avoid anyone who might report to my family before I could. Thankfully, we reached the clinic without incident. The receptionist welcomed us in, and the nurse took us to one of the exam rooms. She handed me the ever so fashionable paper gown and sheet, and said that the doctor would be in shortly. She was correct, because we were joined by a very excited doctor within seconds of her leaving.
