"Just drink. Don't take advantage of me." Allen slapped her hand away.
"If I really take advantage of you, I'm pretty sure you will thank Buddha right away." Geneva rolled her eyes at him and quickly retracted her hand. "Tell me, what business do you have now that you can't wait for tomorrow?"
Allen gestured for another bottle of wine. "I want to know where you were this morning. Why did you ditch me?"
Geneva faked a laugh. "Is this your business that you're talking about? Allen, are you trying to monitor me?"
Allen shot her a cold glance. "Do I look like that kind of person? As a friend who you ditched twice in just one morning, do you think I deserve to get an explanation?"
Geneva took a sip of her whiskey and nodded. "I think you really deserve to know what happened. Well, it's a long story. Are you sure you want to hear?"
"Aside from not having a girlfriend, money, fame, and time, I don't lack them. Just say it."
"Alright." Geneva put down her wine and sighed. "I think I'm heartbroken tonight."
"What?" Allen frowned but after a few seconds, he broke into laughter. One of his hands covered his stomach and the other was slapping on the counter.
Geneva narrowed her eyes, looking at him as if she was looking at an i***t. "Was it funny?"
Allen didn't stop laughing. He ignored the gazes of several people nearer to them, especially from the gaze of the bartender who had an obvious worry in his eyes. He probably worried that the glass counter would break if Allen kept slamming on the same spot of the counter. However he was afraid to stop him either as he knew that their every customer was people who came from rich families and could not be offended.
"Are you not done?" Geneva mercilessly grabbed his arm. She applied much pressure on her grip and Allen was forced to sit still even though he still wanted to laugh. If he didn't stop, he was pretty sure his night wouldn't end well. "You're done, right?"
Allen pursed his lips tightly in order to hold his laughter. His eyes teared up because of it.
Geneva raised a brow. "You're still not done?"
Allen coughed. "Cough, cough, emm, Geneva, let go of my arm. Let's just talk, okay?"
"Hmmp!" Geneva swayed his arm and took a drink. "Do you still want to listen?"
"Of course. Of course." Allen grinned. He seemed to have forgotten what he had experienced this morning because of her. He fixed his clothes and sat properly. "I'm all ears now."
Geneva took a deep breath.
Allen leaned on the counter, head resting on his fist. "You really look like a heartbroken person. What? Who is blind who can ignore your beauty?"
"It's not what you think."
He raised a brow. "Then, what is it?"
"I met a little kid this morning. Yes. It's because of him that I completely forgot about you and I'm sorry." She sighed deeply once more and drank. "I didn't expect that I would like the kid so much since the time I saw him. He is really adorable and cute. I found some familiarity with him as if we have known each other for so long. He clung on me and I also developed a selfish feeling in my heart. I feel like I should just take him home. But I never expected that before we could spend time together a bit longer, he was taken away from me by his family unknowingly. You say, isn't it a bit cruel?"
"Didn't you just escape after seeing his family? Why are you acting as if you lost something valuable?" Allen looked at her seriously but only God knew how he wanted to giggle. He was certain about one thing but he had no idea why she just disappeared from the scene. So he purposely feigned innocence as he was curious what she was gonna say.
"I am not!" Geneva shook her head. "I did not!"
"What do you mean?"
"I didn't mean to leave him there alone. I went to the washroom to clean the juice stains in my clothes but when I was about to go back I fainted and someone brought me to the clinic upstairs." Geneva laughed bitterly. "Of course, no matter what the reason I had is, I still can't change the fact that I left him alone and so I missed the chance to see him before he returned home and it's my fault."
"Do you wish to see him again?"
"Nonsense! What kind of question is that? Of course I do! I really do. If I could, I would snatch the kid away."
Allen chuckled. "You really never change. You are still so bold. You tell me. If his family is the most powerful in this place, would you dare think to snatch him from them?"
"Of course! There's nothing I don't dare. But, that's if they mistreated him. If not, forget it. I don't have the right to forbid the kid to be happy and have a complete family. As of now, I just want to see him and that's enough." Geneva smiled bitterly, shaking her head. "I must be paranoid. I don't think I will see him again."
"Why not?" Allen said with a serious face.
"We belong to different worlds."
"That nonsense reason again?" Allen slammed his hand on the counter again which startled the bartender and Geneva who was drowning in bitter emotions.
"Can't you just talk?" Geneva scolded. "Do you really have to hit the counter? Well, right. You can afford to pay for that if it breaks. Why worry?"
Allen rolled his eyes. "Hey, I am just out of control of my own emotions. I don't mean to flaunt my wealth. I'm not that kind of person."
Geneva nodded. "I'm done with my story. Allen, I don't feel too good tonight. I wanna go home and lie in bed. So tell me your important business right now. Cut the chase. Make it quick and short."
Allen took a sip of his wine. "Why rush? I'm pretty sure you will be over the moon if you will learn about the important business I'm talking about." He winked at Geneva who frowned upon hearing his words. "Why don't you wish to see that kid right now in front of me? Who knows? Maybe I can grant it?"
Geneva smirked. "You're drunk. You better go home." She grabbed her purse and stood, preparing to leave. When she was about to leave, Allen seized her wrist and looked up, staring at her intently.
"What? You don't dare? Are you afraid to bet?" Allen let go of her hand. "How about this? Let's take a bet. If I can grant your wish, you have to do a single wish for me. If I can't, I will do the same. How about it?"
Geneva smirked. "Since you're stubborn. Alright, game." She sat back and looked at him with confidence to win. "Where's he now?"
"Do the wish first."
"Childish." Geneva rolled her eyes. "Fine, I wish to see him right now."
"Okay. Wait a minute." Allen groped something in his pant's pocket and after a few seconds, he took out his phone. Geneva thought he would call someone to bring the kid since it's not impossible for him given his wealth, but she didn't expect that what he did was beyond her expectations. He just opened his phone, browsed, and then drew it so close to her face.
"What are you doing? You're making me blind." Geneva closed her eyes and rubbed it as it felt uncomfortable with the high brightness of the screen that was too close to her eyes.
"Stupid!" Allen knocked her forehead. "Can't you tell what I'm doing?"
"It's so bright. Moron!"
"Oh I'm sorry." Allen adjusted the brightness of the phone and then placed it on the counter, pushing the phone in front of her. "Em, look at it yourself."
Geneva frowned. "What do you mean by this? Where is he? Allen, are you playing with me?"
Allen pointed to the phone using his lips. "Enough nagging. Just take a look at the phone first."
"Remember, if I discovered you're playing with me just because I ditched you this morning, I will break your leg." Geneva glared at him and then hesitatingly went through the phone.
"Then returned the phone to me." Allen tried to take the phone back before she could carefully take a look at the phone screen, but Geneva shot him a threatening glance, enough to shake his legs. He gulped anxiously though he knew it was impossible to happen since he had the best triumph card. "Hey, can't you be gentle? You're a woman but you're so fierce than a tiger. If you're like that, who will marry you?"
Geneva laughed mockingly. Raising a brow, she said, "Do I look like I'm afraid of not getting married? I will be happier without a man, don't you know that?"
Allen was speechless. He opened his lips, seemingly wanted to say something but was unable to voice it out. So he chose to shut up. Although what she said was a bit arrogant and senseless, he could tell from her eyes that she was telling the truth. Well, he had witnessed how cruel she was against men before so it's not surprising if she wished not to have a man who she could accompany to grow old for the rest of her life.
"Why did you suddenly quiet down?" Geneva raised a brow.
Allen looked away, sighing. "You should look over my phone. So we can go home. Aren't you in a hurry to return home?"
"Yes. Alright." Geneva picked up the phone and quickly set her eyes on the phone screen. She was feeling upset towards something, especially as she thought that Allen was playing with her. However, when she took a close look at the screen, her eyes widened in shock, her heart thumped wildly. She looked up at Allen, pointing at her index finger at the phone. "This, this, Allen, what- what do you mean by this? I- you— where did you get this picture? Could it be—"
"You're right, I know him."
Geneva was stunned. The phone slipped out in her hand and fell on the floor with a thud.
