Chapter 16: Stop Shaking Me

"Please, let me see him!" Geneva grabbed Allen's hand. This action was just due to her subconscious self and it was nothing to her but the warm sensation that oozes out from her skin stiffened Allen's body. "I will do whatever your wishes are as long as you let me see him, huh? We bet just now, remember? Since you found him, we can't go back on our word. Bring me to him and I will owe you a big favor." Geneva looked at him hopefully. Her beautiful face brightened. Her eyes welled up but showed a hint of life, excitement, and anticipation. Her elegance, coldness, and indifference were suddenly gone and was replaced with passion and warmth which were mostly couldn't be found in her initial self. As if she had returned to her cheerful, easygoing, and sensible self seven years ago. After a couple of seconds that she didn't hear anything from Allen, she shook his shoulders while yelling, "Speak! Speak! Why are you not saying anything? Allen!" Due to the deafening music in the bar, her yell was drowned out but those few nearby still noticed them and they thought they were fighting. Even so, no one dared to come over and interfered, since only the woman was making the scene. Besides it's none of their business if the duo fought. "Stop shaking me!" Allen slapped her arms away. "You're making me dizzy. Geneva, are you out of your mind?" Geneva was shutted up, smiling like a fool and looking not a beautiful smart woman anymore. "I‐ I‐ I was so excited just now. My heart is beating so fast until now. I- I can't control myself. I–" "Calm down, can't you?" Allen glared. "If you're already like this only by seeing his picture, how much more if you see him again in person? Are you going to faint or shout in public? My God, are you really Geneva Sanchez that I know? Or did I just meet an impostor?" "You are reacting too much." Geneva rolled her eyes at him. "Can't I just be happy?" "Alright, don't be happy too early. I will have to talk to the family first. If they agree, I will arrange the place for you to meet." Allen stared at her meaningfully. "Why are you looking at me like that?" Allen smiled. "I have a better idea here. If you agree, you don't have to beg for time anymore just to see him. There's even a possibility that you can stay with him as much as you want." "Are you for real?" Geneva's face lit up. "Tell me, what is it?" Allen gestured his fingers, telling her to come over. "Come closer, I'll tell you. Come on." Geneva frowned, but she didn't reject it. With a threatening look, she leaned over him and listened attentively. Allen also leaned in and in her ear, he whispered something that both surprised and troubled her. Her expression was quite complicated. Allen sat upright and winked. "How is it? Isn't that a great idea?" "It is, yes. But— I–" Allen stood up. "You don't have to answer me right away. You can take your time to consider it. Just phone me if you're willing to do it. After all, it's a piece of cake for you. You can do it even while working in the entertainment industry." He tapped her shoulder. "Alright, that's all. I should send you home." "Is there no other option?" "There's none. Unless—" He smiled mysteriously. "In your dreams!" Geneva shook her head in front of the mirror. She turned on the water, sprinkled plenty of water on her face, rinsed her mouth, and then watched her reflection on the mirror once more. She then sighed, grabbed a toothpaste and toothbrush and brushed her teeth. After a few minutes, she directly searched for her phone in her purse the moment she stepped out of the bathroom. When she had it, she straightway went on the contact list of her phone, and dialed the certain person's number. In just one rung, the person on the other end of the phone picked up the call. "You're decided?" Allen's hoarse voice went through right away. "You're still up, right?" Geneva asked as she sat on the edge of her bed. "Did I disturb you?" Allen chuckled. "Since when did you ever think to ask me first if you disturb me or not before asking something?" "Nevermind." Geneva said using an impatient tone. "Hey, you're back to your old self so soon? So killjoy." Allen hissed. "Alright, I am about to go to bed now. Since you called this late night, I guessed you have made up your mind." "Em," Geneva nodded. "Where's the place?" "I'm still choosing— Okay, have a rest. I know you're exhausted the whole day. I will message you about the place early in the morning once it's decided." "Okay." Geneva ended the call right after that short reply and tossed herself on the bed, arms and legs spread wide. She stared at the ceiling for a long time with empty thoughts but a crowded heart. That's why drowsiness was hard to come by. Her entire body as well her soul was so active and alive because of her excitement to see the kid again. Was she about to go crazy? When midnight came, Geneva couldn't lie still anymore. She tossed, rolled, and turned over occasionally in order to tire herself and was hopeful to fall asleep. However, even when the dawn arrived, she was still wide awake. In boredom, she got off the bed, sat in front of her laptop, and browsed the latest news on the Internet and weibo. What she did didn't help much. She found no valuable news after more than an hour of browsing. It only made her body feel weak and lazy but it didn't help to divert her consciousness or cease her unstable emotions. Geneva sighed. She went to the bathroom and took a warm bath. She soaked in the bathtub while trying to let go of her messy feelings. Until time passed by, she didn't know she had fallen asleep. When she woke up the next morning, it was already morning. The sun was bright and several rays of light passed through the small gap of the window. "Oh my, it's already morning. My God, what have I done?" Geneva exclaimed. She hurriedly rose up only to almost fall and wobble on the floor. She stood still on the floor with her eyes closed and waited for a few minutes before opening them again. Only after then she moved and went out of the bathroom to put on her disguise. … In the Bluebird Garden The father and son duo sat opposite to each other on the dining table. Chen Lei was eating while the kid only sat there like a statue. As if he wasn't facing a table but in another world where his mind was floating somewhere while sitting on the beach watching the sunset. The father and son duo were on the dining table but the way they stayed in the same room was like they were having a vigil— extremely quiet and distant. As if they were strangers who coincidentally shared the same table and left with no choice but share the place. The little thing's nanny who was standing behind the kid was anxious. If her little master didn't eat, the King would surely scold her. "Little Master, please eat." She whispered to the little thing's ear. "I beg you." The kid didn't budge. Not even blinking his eyes. Chen Lei put down his cutlery, wiped his lips with the napkin, and finally spared a glance to his son. "Why are you not eating? Is the food didn't suit your taste?" The kid didn't say anything. He just looked at him the way his father did. Chen Lei didn't pay any more heed to him. He stood up and talked to the nanny instead. "Force him to eat. Otherwise, forget about your bonus this month. I'm going to work." Chen Lei was about to turn when he halted and turned his head over his son's direction once again. His son met his eyes with a hopeful gaze only to be disappointed to get an unpleasant reminder from his father's mouth. "Don't cause trouble." After that, Chen Lei turned and walked away. He didn't get any further yet. When he just reached the first step going upstairs, a sound of shattering objects was heard. He immediately looked over only to see his very own son sweeping the plates and other dining tools down the floor. "Chen Bao Ai, stop that! So early in the morning, what is this about now?"
