915 Words
Chen Lei glared at the nanny. "And you? What are you doing? Did I pay you just to stand there and do nothing? Why did you let him ruin things?" "Young Master!" Kath Diaz knelt down in fear. "I'm sorry. I can't control him. I can't stop him. I'm useless." "Then what reason do I have to keep you here if you're useless? Damn!" Chen Lei hurriedly went over and grabbed the kid's hand. "Chen Bao Ai, stop it!" The kid just looked up at him. Since he held his right hand, he used his other hand to knock everything he could reach. "I told you to stop it! Can't you hear me?" Chen Lei pulled the kid off the table. "Chen Bao Ai, I'm busy today. I don't have time to play with your nonsense. I'm warning you, stop causing trouble." The kid looked up at him. Though he felt pain with the tight grip of his father, he didn't show some trace of fear and submission in his eyes. Instead, he was as cold and as stern as his father. His stance was firm and he was determined to anger his father to death. Since he couldn't get what he expected from his father, then, it was better to displease him to vent his own anger and disappointment. Chen Lei looked down at his son and his son bravely met the anger in his eyes. However at the moment their eyes met, a strange discomfort aroused in his heart. There was guilt and fear in his heart that he couldn't explain what caused it. But when he had a close look at his son's eyes, he realized something and it made his guilt that he felt grew even stronger. Chen Lei held his forehead and closed his eyes, sighing, "Little Love, I understand your worries. Don't worry. I didn't forget what I promised you yesterday. I promised to bring her to you today and I mean it. The day is still long, don't be anxious." Chen Lei crouched down and put his hands on his son's shoulder, staring at him gently and warmly, "Can you not cause trouble anymore? If father can't bring her to you until the day ends, I will be struck with lightning and cut into a million pieces, is that okay?" The kid pouted and looked away. His father's words didn't satisfy him but it worked. He calmed down, broke free from his father's hold, and then silently walked upstairs, not looking back. Chen Lei sent him up with his eyes. When the little kid's shadow was no longer to be seen, he shifted his dagger eyes to the nanny. "What are you waiting for? Ask someone to clean up the mess and bring the little young Master food upstairs!" "Yes." Kath Divaz hurriedly stood up and went away, trembling. … In the Starmoon Entertainment office. In a spacious office, the usually aloof young man was working in a good mood. His stern good-looking face was now glowing with warmth, passion, and liveliness. The workload that was given to him was nothing to ruin his mood. He was no longer that strict looking, unapproachable and distant person. The air of confidence and intelligence, and his irresistible elegance and charm were still shrouding him, but he was more pleasant to look at in the moment and the environment around him was more peaceful. He looked more handsome, more approachable, and more friendly that time than ever. Xindy Apostol, Alyssa Curtis's assistant, looked at him with confused thoughts. After watching him for almost half an hour, she couldn't hold on anymore. She stood up from sitting on the couch, left the papers she had been sorting out, and walked over his table. "Brother Xander, you, are you alright?" "I am." Xander Villaruel spared her a quick glance with a beautiful smile which made the little assistant blush. He noticed the change of expression of the woman but he chose to ignore it. "What's wrong? Is there something you want to say?" "I– I, Brother Xander, you–" Her mouth parted, seemingly wanting to say something but couldn't bring herself to do so. Afraid to offend the man. Xander Villaruel put his pen down, rested his chin on his steepled fingers, and looked up on her. "Just say it. Don't hold it in yourself. That is awful to keep in your heart." Xindy Apostol played on her fingernails and lowered her head down, ashamed, "Brother Xander, you look so different today. Did you— I mean, is there a happy event today?" Xander Villaruel frowned. "How did I look different?" "I, I can't explain it clearly but you are really different. So I thought—" "You thought what?" Xander Villaruel interrupted her with a friendly smile. Xindy Apostol smiled awkwardly, hesitating to speak, "Brother Xander, did you find yourself a girlfriend?" "What?" The man suddenly became serious. "How did you say so?" Xindy Apostol hurriedly waved her hands, anxious to anger him. "No. I'm sorry Brother Xander. I was just curious earlier so I said it out of impulse. Please forgive me." Xander Villaruel laughed. "Don't be anxious. It's fine. Oh right, go and bring Alyssa Curtis to me. I have something to discuss with her." "Oh, alright." Xindy Apostol bowed and then hurriedly walked out of the room. Xander Villaruel's sight followed the anxious figure of the little assistant and after a moment he sighed, returning to work.
