1. The Dilemma of being a princess

605 Words
ISABELLE Princesses live a charmed and privileged life in grand palaces that ordinary people can only dream of. But instead, only a princess knows the dilemma of being a princess, and more importantly, a diseased princess. I was twelve years old when I got to know about my diseased self. I had overheard my parents talking that 'they need to take more care of me if they had to keep the situation in control'. When I asked them about what the "situation" was, then they elaborated that I had been diagnosed with a rare disease and that if regular medicines are not taken, then the disease might someday lead to my death. They also explained to me that the disease was the reason that I had not grown in height or gained a single pound of weight since then. As for a normal teenager of my age, I should have grown in height and gained some pounds of weight as well. Well, I must say that I was lucky enough to be grown like a complete adult girl by the time, I reached twelve years of age, and when I got diagnosed with the rare disease. My parents and the servants of our castle never forget to give me the required dose of my medicine three times a day and also make me be in sunlight during the daylight. I must say that I am really lucky to have parents like them, who take care of me more than their own lives. Speaking of our castle, it blends superbly into its surrounded forest, and in many ways, it is "the ideal castle". Although it contains some sections of great antiquity, it acquired the current layout over the course of past reconstructions. This renewal of interest was justified by the symbolic nature of our native place and people, and today the castle continues to be a symbol of this place's past and present. Its current state is a splendid example of what this fortress might have been at the peak of its military. Our castle is perched at a height of some 600 meters above the delightful countryside, east of the German-Czech border. Not many people are aware of its existence, and that is probably the reason we don't have many visitors. But as I didn't want to be alone for the whole time, I had somehow persuaded my parents to allow me to organize a camp for all the people across the countryside, who suffer from any kind of lifelong disease or impairment. Well, the "Camp" was just a word used to persuade my parents, I had somehow sought their approval to open an NGO for all the people from the countryside who are alone, with no one to take care of them, and they are suffering from any kind of lifelong disease, or impairment. What is the use of such a big castle if we can't make any use of it? The camp or NGO was just an excuse with the hope that my parents would treat me less like a princess, and more like a normal human being if I would indulge myself more in the services of other needy people. But I was wrong...totally wrong! Their attention toward me only increased after the start of my so-called camp. They have now increased the number of hours that I have to spend under the sunlight, and they have also told me that as I would be taking more stress from now on, I need to get the dosage of my medicines doubled. Pathetic! . . . . . . . TURN THE PAGE!
