Chapter Twenty Seven

He got out of the bathroom just as she finished drying her hair.He could feel her gaze skim over him in pure appreciation prompting him to turn to her.

''Do You like what you see?''He muttered with a raised brow at her and a playful smile. Reina shrugged with a nonchalant shrug.

''I am only but enjoying my most precious of creations.I have to say,I did an awesome job!''she replied with a proud smirk before holding her hair up in a ponytail.Though guarded,he could see the pure female appreciation in her eyes...Hell,he could feel it radiating off her which was weird as it was.He'd felt a connection to her before,Alright,but it hadn't been as strong as it was at that moment.

''Yeah....Go ahead and objectify me...I don't mind at all...Wait,are we going for a workout?''She rolled her eyes at him with a slight smile then nodded over to the bed.He smiled back and turned to the bed where a pair of gray fleece sweatpants had been laid with a black Nike sweatshirt and matching sneakers.

''No...We're going for a workout..Well,not really a workout...you'll see...''she said,heading into the closet.She came out a few minutes later clad in a black champion shaped sports bra and a matching black shorts.Her skin was pale white with a navel piercing he hadn't noticed before and a tattoo that stretched down her abdomen.She was petite with the right amount of curves in the right places.In short,she was gorgeous,worthy to make any man beg for her.Crave for her.Subject themselves to her in a hope of redemption.Her beauty was just otherworldly.

''I thought Vampires didn't need workouts.''Reina shrugged at that.

''We don't...You on the other hand.....Just meet me downstairs in Five.I had William bring you those,figured you'd need clothes after I...You know......See you then.''she said,disappearing down the hall.He didn't know why but her leaving left him feeling bereft and quite frankly,lost....Quickly dressing up,he thought back to when she'd called him Birthday boy.He was wondering how she'd known it was his birthday when it hit him....The only person who could've told him.Luke.He was out of the room and down the hall in two minutes,glancing at the architecture of the house that he realized to be Old Century with a trace of modern that left it looking exclusive and Impeccably sophisticated.She had taste.He went down the stairs,his eyes searching for his best friend.Bits and pieces of the previous night had been coming back to him and he remembered the beasts and the woman who had been holding him hostage. Reina had not talked to him about any of it.His mind was swirling with possibilities.Could she have failed to help him and had wanted to break the news to him as he was distracted?Fear crept in just as he got to the bottom of the stairs.

''Lord Black?''A voice from behind him asked.Startled,Zero turned to find a beautiful young woman with golden blonde hair held in a ponytail and the warmest of turquoise eyes staring at him.She seemed slightly flushed,no doubt from his new look or maybe the sun shining outside.Either way,He frowned at her,wondering where she'd come from and why the exaggerated title when she smiled at him.

''Please call me Zero.''he replied with a slight smile.There was something about her that had him smiling.Maybe it was how warm she was,an unexplainable power to her.

''Well,Zero,Lady Gremory is waiting for you in the patio.Its right this way.''She said,turning left down an expansive hallway.He followed her,spotting a massive room that seemed like a ballroom.His mind strayed back to his father,remembering the entry in his journal.It was unbelievable that his father had been in that very house almost a century ago.They passed through a set of double doors where a massive pool was with green lawns over the expanse and trees. Reina was standing under one of the trees,seemingly deep in conversation with someone.She turned to him when he approached,hanging up as she did.

''Took you long enough.''she said,turning to Gail with a smile,''thanks Gail.We'll have breakfast here too.''she added,bowing down to them both before proceeding back into the house. Reina smiled fondly after her,seeming to also like her.

''Luke........''

''He's taking a shower.He tried to wait up for you but exhaustion got the better part of him and he slept in.He'll be down shortly with Amelia so stop worrying so much.You're making me edgy.''she said,placing the phone on the black metal table that was as exquisite as the rest of the patio furniture.

''Wait...so you can...''Zero was saying when she nodded.

''Feel what you feel?Yes...I can.Your father bonded us so that I could know when you were close to your turn and get to you.He figured you wouldn't understand what was happening because you would have no memory of him explaining it all to you.Now that you've gone through the turn,our earlier temporary bond has been made permanent because I am now your Helmurrin.''She replied moving down back into the shade of the other trees.

''That isn't creepy at all.....Wait,what do you mean I would have no memory of him explaining it to me?''Zero asked,following her.

''I'll leave that to Amelia to explain since its kinda their thing.....''He stared at her,confused,''the lime green eyed beauty who was with Luke last night?....Look,never mind that.Right now I want you to concentrate on beating me in a sparring contest.''she said,backing away from him a bit.

''A sparring contest?''Zero asked with a frown.She nodded,staring straight at him with those unflinching eyes that held the darkest of secrets.All the playfulness from earlier was certainly gone.

''I cannot let you out there without being sure that you're ready for the fight.And you also need to be able to handle your new energy.Familiarize yourself with it.And the only way you can do that is by fighting....And in this case,me.''she said simply.

''Wait,I can't fight you.....And no,its not because you're a girl...''Reina chuckled at that,raising her brow at him which he surprisingly found very arousing.

''Who said I thought that was the reason?''Zero shook his head at that.

''Well played with that one...What I meant was how exactly am I supposed to keep up with you?You seem to forget that you're a Vampire.''Reina approached him slowly,her eyes guarded as she clenched and unclenched her fists.

''And you forget that you are no longer a Duine.......Now get ready because I am not going to go easy on you.....''she disappeared just as a bad feeling crept up his spine.......
