Chapter nine b- our little misunderstanding

760 Words
Katrina We have been walking nonstop today since the time we walked out of that hut. The only thing that favours us is the tall trees if not we would have been melted by now.  "Stop, I'm really tired, I can't take it anymore" I say as I lie on the ground.  "Oh! Humans, always lazy" she says and walks back to where I was laying on the ground.  "I can't take this, we have been walking since morning without stopping to rest or get some food, and as it is, I'm really thirsty now" I complain.  Literally, my throat is throbbing in pain.  "Then drink your pee" she says and I don't know if it is a joke or serious because I can't read the expression on her face.  "Well, how can I pee when I haven't drank any liquid in ages" I answer sarcastically but it's true, since after that faithful day, I haven't had anything liquid to quench my thirst and my throat is literally going to catch on fire anytime soon.  "There is no water source around but we can at least rest for a while and we'll proceed, and by the way, from my calculation, we are almost close to the main road" she says as she tries to lie down.  "Really?" I ask in amazement.  It's almost two weeks since a saw a clear glimpse of the sun. I sit up from my laying position and try to get up while saying excitedly.  "Then what are we waiting for, let's get going" I say.  "No, I want to rest for a while, we can move later, it's not even up to a kilometer away from here" she says and yawns.  I guess she's really tired so I let her be. Actually, I'm really tired too, so as soon as I lie down again, I doze off to an uncomfortable sleep. ********** Many boring hours later "Hey wake up, I think we over slept, it's starting to get dark already" someone whispers in my dream.  "Hey wake up" the voice grows louder.  I open my eyes a little and see star light standing in front of me. Oh my God! It looks so beautiful in my dreams.  "Wake up" she shouts again.  I widely open my eyes when I realize that it's not a dream. I look around and it seems like it's getting dark already.  "Why didn't you wake me up?" I ask.  "Well, that's what I've been doing for the past thirty minutes" she answers sarcastically.  "Uhhh! Now what are we going to do?" I ask.  "We have two options, it's either we walk to the main road now which is dangerous by the way or we sleep here which is utter madness because there are..." she keeps quiet.  "There are what?" I ask.  "Nothing important, you can sleep on trees right?" she asks.  "Yes but can't we just continue walking?" I ask.  "You can without me" she answers and starts walking the other way.  "OK one minute" I say whole getting up.  "Why are you acting so weird since morning, you're being so cold towards me?" I ask.  "Me? Phuhhh, I have nothing against you" she answers and continues to walk away.  I follow her from behind.  "Or was it because of the story I told you about me and my colleagues?" I ask.  She stops walking and turns to face me.  "OK let's get this cleared up, it's not about that, in fact, I really do think that you're courageous are brave" she says and that makes me happy, but that doesn't explain her attitude towards me lately.  "You haven't let me get some rest after watching all over you during the night yesterday, well, you know what just forget it" she says and turns to walk away.  "OK I'm sorry, I never thought that this could hurt you so bad" I apologize.  Now she will hate me and think that I don't care about her. I pick her up from the ground and cuddle her.  "I'm really sorry, this would never happen again I promise" I try to assure her.  "Humans, always making promises that they can't keep" she says.  "I promise I won't hurt you ever again" I assure her with tears in my eyes.  "OK, let's go find some place to sleep, you humans are pathetic" she says and I start to walk without saying anything.  I walk over to a tree and climb. I reach a big branch and keep star light on the space.  "Good night" I say while stroking her head.  "You should sleep today, I'll try and watch over" I say.  "No, we should all have some sleep, I doubt that anything could see us from up here" she says.  "OK, good night" I say and lie down to sleep too.
