Chapter 14 - Confirmation of Danger

568 Words
Mandy rushed back to the library. The two security guards followed her. It was only then that she realized that all the documents from the file fell on the floor, scattered all over the place. She sighed heavily. I hope all of these are still intact. She slowly bent to pick them up. The security guards did the same.     As she is picking the documents up, she noticed that the two security guards are shocked while looking at the pictures on the floor. She was curious why.     “Is there something wrong?” she said as she went near them.     They both looked at her in horror.     “Atty. Mandy!” they both uttered.     “What’s going on with you?” she said as she looked at the pictures on the floor. She saw a picture of a man and pictures of dead bodies draped with white linen. She also saw a picture of a dead woman. Slowly, she bent and picked the photos to have a closer look.      The man on the picture appears to be in his early forties. He is shot on the head as shown by the gunshot wound on his forehead. His heart nearly escaped a beat. Lubb-dubb, lubb….dubb. What’s going on? This is just an ordinary murder case, she assured herself.      She looked at the other pictures. There, she was able to see that the draped dead bodies are all lined up in front of a villa, an expensive villa. This must be Mr. Dawson’s family, she thought. Still, she looked at the picture of the dead woman on the newspaper clipping cut out. She was r***d before she got murdered, that was the heading. Oh, another victim? How does it relate with the first murder case?      Suddenly, she remembered that there are two security guards beside her. She turned to look at them. Still, they are in shock.      “Atty. Mandy,” one security guard managed to start. “A-Are you defending the case of Vice-President Morris Parker?”      “Yes, I just accepted the case,” Mandy simply answered.      The security guards looked at each other. They seem to understand why somebody broke into her house that night.      “Have you ever heard about this case before?” another security guard asked.      “No,” Mandy answered again, unaware of the reason why everyone who hears about the case of Vice-President Parker behaves scared and weird.      “Well, it’s the most controversial case I ever heard in my whole life,” the oldest security guard answered. “I never believed in the gossip that those who got involved in any way in solving this case died tragically until tonight when I saw Miss Clara Kaspersqy’s picture on that newspaper cut out. Miss Mandy, her murder was rumoured to have been published months after she reported about what happened to the Vice-President and his family. However, the news was taken down from the newspapers and internet right after it was published. The public has been asking where Miss Clara Kaspersqy went though. At the time of her death, she was a well-celebrated news reported. However, she vanished out of the press weeks or months after covering Vice-President Parker and his family’s murder. Now, we saw the evidence with our own eyes. Atty. Mandy, please be careful.”
