Chapter 3: The Soul

“I’m sorry, I’m late!” I rushed to my parents and gave them a kiss. My Mom, who is looking so gorgeous hugs me so tight before kissing my cheeks.

“It’s okay honey, your Mom and I are having fun with our alone time.” My Dad gave me a wink and I giggled.

I sat on my chair beside my mom and looked around our private room, I have noticed that our table is big, and I think my Mom saw my confusion so she held my hand and gave me her assuring smile.

“Darling, your Dad’s friend, and his family will be joining us for dinner.”

“Oh..”

I thought this dinner is just for the three of us. I felt a little disappointed. We rarely have time together because of my busy schedule, and at times like this, I don’t want to share them with other people.

“How’s your movie?” Dad suddenly asked that made me look at him.

“We just finish filming dad.”

“Oh, so you are going home after your vacation in your villa?” my Dad sounded hopeful and my shoulders fell.

I want to go home to our Mansion! I want to be with them!

“I have to fly to New York for the Fashion week Dad.”

His smile faded and he nodded at me before he sighed. I saw how my Mom held his hand above the table.

“I’m sorry..”

My parents had always been supportive of me. And I am happy that I have my brother who will help my Dad with our business or else I might not be able to do what I want in life.

“It’s okay honey, just as long as we can see you at least once in a month..” my Mom said and my Dad smiled and nodded at me.

“Thank you, parents! You guys are the best!” I said before I gave them a hug.

“Oh how about me?”

My head snapped from where the voice came from.

“Isaac!” I jumped in surprised when I saw my gorgeous brother who’s standing near my chair.

Isaac is five years older than me, and he is the best brother in the whole world! He loves me so much and pampered me a lot. I just don’t like it when he is being overprotective. There are times when he will go to my shoot just to check who is my new partner on screen.

I ran towards my brother and hugged him tightly while he is laughing at me.

“Missed me?” he teased and I rolled my eyes at him.

“Of course, duh!” I said before I removed my arms from him and went back to my chair.

“Who’s fault then?!” he chuckled and I glared at him.

Isaac went to our parents and kissed them both before sitting beside me.

“You can stop working and just stay home, no need to work, we can support you, our money won’t run out even if-“

“I want to stand on my own feet and-“

“You’re successful already, you did it on your own and we are proud of you-“

“Isaac, Isobel, your Dad’s friend is here, behave.” My Mom said sweetly and all our arguments vanished.

My brother and I look behind us and to see Dad’s friend. When Dad and Mom stood up, my brother helped me to stand up.

We greeted Dad’s friend and his sweet wife before we decided to settle on our chairs.

“I thought your son will be joining us, David?” Dad asked his friend after some conversation between them.

“Oh, he will, he is already outside just answering a call.” Mrs. Amelia Mc Dermott said before she gave us her sweet smile.

“Oh? Amelia, your son is really hands-on when it comes to work, no wonder he was able to build his name at a young age, and now look at him, he was able to build an empire already!” Mom said in an admiring voice and Mr. and Mrs. Mac Dermott both smiled proudly.

“Well, what can I say, he really took it after my husband.” Mrs. Amelia said and his husband chuckled.

“I heard your son Isaac here is also making his name in the same field as you, Adam?” Mr. Conor Mac Dermott asked and I turned to look at my brother who looks shy.

“Well, he is and I am happy that my son here followed my footstep.” My dad chuckled.

“And your beautiful daughter here is really famous, I always see her face in Malls, especially High-end Malls, and people really love her,” Amelia said before she looked at me and sent me a warm and friendly smile.

“Thank you, Ma’am.” I said.

“Call me Aunt Amelia.”

“Ohh.. Aunt Amelia then..” I said feeling shy.

Aunt Amelia is about to say something but then his husband's word cut her off.

“Oh, our son is here.”

Our heads all turned to where Sir Connor is looking at.

And I almost fell off my seat when I saw their son.

My lips parted as my heart started to beat fast.

He is the guy that saved me from the crowd a while ago!

I can’t believe it! What a small world!

They all stood up when Mac Dermott’s son walked towards us.

The Mac Dermott introduces their son, and I can see how proud they are.

“This is my only son, Soul Lachlan McDermott, the founder of LMGC or Lachlan Mac Dermott Group of Companies.” Sir Connor said looking so proud.

And I stood frozen to where I am standing. I didn’t know that he is the famous Soul Mac Dermott, and I didn’t know that he is the son that Aunt Amelia was talking about.

He is THE SOUL MAC DERMOTT!!

I mean, they are not only the Mac Dermotts, so I never thought that the son they are talking about is the ruthless business tycoon that I have been hearing from some of the important people that I know.

And I think that he sponsored our last film as well as he is the backer of Kirsten Ellis that our Director is talking about!

What a small world really..
