"I am so done with all these parties your family organize every weekend. Do you all ever have a break?" Helen complained as they walked into his aunt's mansion where the baby shower was to be held. Guests walked in and out chatting away among themselves. A few guests approached them to greet them briefly before going ahead to meet other guests. Helen had caught sight of the woman of the party seated on a golden throne in the middle of the hall accepting gifts and smiling at guests. As soon as the heavily pregnant lady had caught sight of Finn, her smile widened immediately.
"You made it!" She rejoiced happily as she pulled him close for a hug. Her big tummy seemed to be getting in their way each time but she didn't care. Finn looked pretty uncomfortable at this.
"Congrats on your third child, Olivia". He congratulated as soon as the hug broke out.
"I never planned for this one, I promise. It just popped in" She confessed with a funny face she made. She seemed to be sarcastic about this one.
"I have always told you to do family planning. Why doesn't anyone ever listen to me?" He asked with a disappointed look.
*Not everyone will listen to you all the time, Finn. I am very sure this pretty wife of yours doesn't listen to you either. I mean someone who likes to be controlled all the time. We ladies love our freedom a lot. By the way, she looks very beautiful. Hi, i am Olivia". Olivia introduced herself to Helen, who smiled politely at her.
"I am Helen. Congrats on your baby shower". She replied with a smile.
"Thank you so much, but i will warn you not to follow my steps. Having two or just one child is enough. I have no idea how I will take care of this one. All the cries at night, pampering and shopping for new baby clothes...stressful, I tell you". She complained.
"You don't have to get new baby clothes. You can just use your other children's outfits. You have a boy and a girl, right?" Helen suggested, wondering why she needed to waste money on new outfits. The lady stared at her with disgust at those words. Finn threw her an angry stare.
"What do you take us as? Poor? We can afford new baby clothes if you have no idea about that", Finn snapped at her with disdain. "This is why we never get along. You think so cheaply."
"I was only suggesting", Helen defended herself with surprise.
"Don't suggest such an idea to me. We are getting along pretty well. Don't spoil that with cheap talks. I mean, you and Finn will have a child soon, so why have that type of mentality about our children? Would you prefer your brother's outfit for your son?" She asked, raising her eyebrows. Finn and Helen felt uncomfortable with this conversation. Helen felt very awkward and proceeded to excuse herself from the conversation as soon as possible. She headed toward the water dispenser and poured out a cup of water for herself.
"Why did that lady have to bring up that conversation?" She thought.

As the ceremony proceeded, Mr Lamba turned from the guests who he was having a brief chit-chat with and began to make his way toward the couple alongside a tall handsome guy who was dressed in a well-ironed suit despite being stated on the invitation card to dress casually. Finn didn't seem happy at the sight of this guy. He gulped the rest of his drink he had been sipping at the sight of him and offered it to a servant who was passing by. He looked really uncomfortable as he adjusted the tie and then his long sleeves as he always did if he was nervous.
"Are you okay?" Helen asked with a confused look.
"I don't like that guy" he confessed as he tried turning his gaze on them. "I hate seeing him with my father."
Helen wasn't convinced by this statement of his. Why exactly does he hate this guy and what was wrong with him being with his father? As she proceeded to question him further, the two men arrived at them with smiles, making her swallow back her questions.
"I told you he found a beautiful girl!" His dad praised, patting Finn on the back. "My son, i am happy you could make it"
Finn gave him a weak smile, and exchanged an intense gaze with the young man.
"I am sure your wife doesn't know me yet", The guy finally spoke with his deep masculine voice. "Should I introduce myself to her or will you do it?"
Finn made no move to do that. He stared away toward the rest of the guests, having in mind not to get himself involved in all that.
"Fine. I will do it then. Hello, Helen. I heard so much about you from my uncle. I am Zayn. Your husband's cousin". He introduced himself by stretching his hands for a handshake. Helen accepted it immediately, happy to meet another member of the Finn family who wasn't singing Finn's praises, unlike the rest of the family members.
"I am so happy to meet you, Zayn", she responded with a friendly smile.
"Your hands are so soft" He flirted with a wink. Helen wasn't comfortable with this one now. She tried letting go of her hands but he had held it so tight, playing around with it like a complete flirt. She began to get really irritated. Finn realized what was going on and forcefully pulled his hands away from Zayn's grip, sharply holding them in his instead. Helen yanked her hands off his with disgust.
"I guess that's enough introduction for today. My wife and i were about to leave the party before you came over". He excused himself, grabbing Helen's hands one more time, but this time in his attempt to take her along with him to the exit.
"Why so fast? You can't wait to spend time with her can you?" Zayn asked with a smirk. "Or, there is something you are both hiding about your marriage. Maybe it's fake or…"
Finn groaned with anger.
"Stop this! I married her legally. I can show you the papers if you want me to. You cannot be meddling in a business that does not concern you". He tried defending himself.
"No lavish wedding, no money spent. You didn't even mention Joyce. So unlike you. It's just a low key wedding you had. I still remember that time you wanted to get married to Joyce. You were willing to do just anything to make the wedding lavish? Why is this one lowkey? Is there not something fishy about this sudden mysterious love life of yours?" Zayn asked. Zayn seemed to have touched Finn's soft spot because, for the first time, Helen could see his eyes filled in tears and his hands trembling in distress. His face had turned red with emotion. Sad emotions.
"She was different. Don't ever compare her with anyone", he warned, before walking out of the building immediately. Helen followed without saying a word. Zayn's words stopped her.
"You can step out of the relationship if you want to. He only wants the inheritance. As soon as he gets that, you are no one to him anymore', The guy warned him. "Don't tell me, i didn't warn you."
She turned back at him, gave him a brief stare before walking out of the building towards the car.
No one said a word that night about what happened. Despite the curious feeling Helen felt, she knew asking him about his cousin that night, especially when he was in a very bad mood, was not an option. She would need to bring it up the next day.
