She woke up the next morning having taken her mind completely off the issue of the previous night until Finn decided to take it up while he lay on the bed staring at her as she sorted out her makeup kit in front of the dressing mirror.
"You will not say anything about last night?" He asked with a calm tone. She hadn't expected him to ask her anything relating to the previous night. In confusion, she had almost opened her lips in order to ask what happened the previous night because she hadn't recalled fast. But luckily she recalled the whole event and changed her statements smartly.
"I felt you might not want to talk about it" She responded, turning her focus to him.
"I know i told you i did not want to discuss my family issues with you, but at this moment i think it's important you know what is going on between my cousin and I. That guy is an i***t, okay?"
"Why do you both hate each other so much? Your dad seems to have no idea about this conflict you both have. He seemed fine bringing him over to you. Perhaps, having in mind, you will both have a normal conversation, cousins have"
"My dad doesn't care. All he wants is to give his inheritance to a competent young man. He loves my cousin as much as he loves me. Since his parents died as a child, my dad has always taken care of him as his own. They have both grown a very tough bond"
"So you mean, both of you grew up together. If that is the case, he should be more like a brother to you."
"Sure we were. We used to be very close during our childhood days. We attended the same school and even did most of our projects together. With time, he chose to move to Germany for his masters. I don't know what came over him concerning the will, to be precise. I didn't care much about the will until he visited late last year. asking my dad what he thought about him taking over the company."
"Wow. Really selfish of him. So what was your dad's response?"
"My dad responded he would be giving his inheritance to anyone of us who wins his trust and impresses him the most. I assure you that this guy we are battling with here will do everything he can to get that inheritance. Through nook and thin. This is why I need your full cooperation here. I know you love that Tristan guy, but if you could let go of him for now and try to pretend a little, i think that would help us get away from Zayn's clutches."
Helen laughed hard on hearing this. This wasn't a request she expected to hear from a guy who was swallowed up by his ego. Tears rolled down her eyes as she laughed hard, making Finn confused about what he said was funny. As soon as she was done laughing hard, she approached him and sat in front of him with a sarcastic look.
"Letting go of Tristan and making my life miserable here, sure. That's going to make my love life get better, "she joked.
"Helen, this isn't a joking matter. We cannot be playing around at this point. I never even realized that dude was back from Germany. Now that he is here, he will try all he can to get proof showing we never had a real marriage in the first place. Do you know how much my life would be messed up if that happened?"
"Is it just me or has Finn lost his ego right now? You never thought of what outsiders could say about our relationship when you were busy smooching that lady in your office, but now that your cousin is back and your inheritance is at stake, you're suddenly a lamb. You know what, I have had enough of your pretense, okay? Even though my career will be at stake, I will be so happy seeing that cousin of yours take over your dad's wealth and not you. You won't lose anything anyway, because you already have so much wealth, but I will be so happy seeing your family business go down to ruins in the hands of that cousin of yours. You have done so much harm to me already. You all have to pay for all you have done to me because of your stupid wealth. Your whole family threatened me. Me! Can you imagine that?" She shouted at him furiously, verging out all her frustrations at him. She groaned angrily and began to walk swiftly to the door in anger.
"No! No! Not so fast" Finn rushed after her as quickly as he could before shutting the door, promptly preventing her from stepping out of the room. She widened her eyes in shock, not expecting him to do that. The force of the door slamming in her face gave her a very bad shock. She had actually felt her heart skip a bit. He forcefully turned her towards him and pinned her against the door, his eyes glaring straight into hers. He was a few inches taller than her, so she felt a little intimidated by being like a goat staring up at a lion pretending to be brave.
"You cannot do this to me, Helen. You can't", he threatened.
"I do whatever I want. No one controls me", She replied, trying to keep her gaze fixed on him, gathering as much courage as possible. To her surprise, he had slowly placed his hands on her lips, still staring deep into her eyes. This got her confused. Why was he doing this? He then wrapped his other arm slowly around her waist as slowly as he could, causing her to feel wanted by him. He wasn't looking fierce anymore. He was looking helpless instead. Helpless and hurt... as if he desperately needed her help. She was puzzled at this sudden change of attitude of his and decided not to let that get into her head. She tried removing his hands from around her waist but he wouldn't let go. His grip was so firm but soft at the same time...and his eyes were still fixed on hers. This made her feel so uncomfortable.
"What do you think you are doing? We aren't even in a relationship". She argued, trying to push him off her, but he wouldn't let go.
"What can I offer you to make you save my dad's hard work?" He asked with a desperate tone.
Helen stopped struggling and stared back at him in a helpless state. She decided to play along by wrapping her arms round his neck with a flirty smile.
"You will do anything will you?" She asked, stroking his hair softly with her hands as she winked at him seductively. Her plan was to irritate him and force him to let her go immediately. He definitely looked irritated, but for some reason, he wasn't ready to give up on her just yet. He was being so persistent. He held onto her rather tightly, pulling himself closer to her and moving his face toward her as if ready to give her a kiss anytime from then.
"What do you want?" He asked softly. For the first time Helen had to let go of her ego and understand what exactly was going on in this man"s head. She felt really nervous now because of the way he gazed into her eyes. No man had ever done that before except Tristan. She never let any other man do that to her like that. She had not even felt nervous and shy around him before. Why now? She stared deeper into his eyes and noticed how blue and pretty they were. His hands around her waist felt so soft. The way he had held her felt like a romantic gesture to her because he held her as softly as he could. He held her like she was a child he wanted to handle with care. She began to notice his looks and then read his stare. Her perspective of him changed immediately. She wasn't staring at an egotistical CEO who was just after claiming an inheritance from his father, she was actually staring at a helpless 24-year-old guy who was in need of her help at that point. He would definitely do anything in his power to save his family's reputation, no matter what it took.
"How much does your family mean to you?" She decided to ask.
"They mean a lot to me. I prioritize them more than anything in this world. I would rather die than see any harm occur to anyone i love deeply. I hold all my family members very close to my heart. This is why I will not let my cousin ruin the little nuclear family I have. Ask me whatever you want, whatever condition you wish, I will do them" He promised. Helen nodded as if she had thought of one. She sighed.
"I have thought of something," She began.
