Chapter 4: Coincidence (1) *** “Huh? You know each other…” Fiona remarked as she took another look at the man. ‘I see… so this is the man we’re supposed to coincidentally bump into here… How well have our parents planned this? And this guy… he seems really experienced as well…’ “Sorry… I was just here to buy more materials… I didn’t know you’d be here… I… wanted to help her…” Owen said as he slumped his shoulders a bit, he pretended like he was embarrassed to see the man there and a bit surprised. ‘Damn he’s defensive even though I’m playing nice…’ He thought to himself. “We don’t need it.” Philip said with a stern voice, clearly telling the man to go away. “Alright… I understand…” Owen replied as he turned his back to the two and took two steps forward then stopped and turned back. “It was really nice meeting you again.” He said with a faint smile. The way he spoke it was difficult to tell whether he was speaking to the girl or the man. “Wait! I need some more help with choosing colors, if you don’t mind!” Fiona said as she called out to the man. ‘If this is the guy our parents send, then he has to stay… otherwise all of this would have been for nothing!’ She thought to herself. ‘And… he might make this boring outing with my brother just a bit more entertaining.’ She had as an afterthought. “No… I don’t really want to disturb you two and-” Owen was interrupted halfway through his sentence. ‘Oh come on… I wanna go home too you know?’ “Stay.” Phillip said with a stern voice again. “Is it really alright if I do?” Owen was surprised by the man’s answer. ‘And here I thought I was about to end my shift early… what tough luck… then yet… this is a big opportunity…’ “She wants you to stay, so it’s fine…” Phillip said as he gestured to the items along the shelves. As if telling him ‘Help her find what she needs and go away.’ It was such a casual thing but for a man as experienced as Owen it was easy to notice. ‘Damn… I guess he really likes his sister then… I should get along with her… after all I don’t know if she’s in on the deal or not…’ Owen thought to himself as he nodded his head. “Colors, was it? I’d be glad to help!” “Great!” Fiona said as she forced a smile. ‘I hope my dummy of a brother will get the hint eventually…’ She thought to herself as she allowed the other person to show her around the store and pick out different types of pain together… * * * Surprisingly after spending time together in the store, Phillip wasn’t as annoyed as he initially was with the man… ‘What’s up with him…’ He wondered to himself. ‘He’s not acting overly obsessed with me as the others… and he’s genuinely helping my sister…’ Phillip was beginning to believe that the other man might not have any impure intentions by talking to him… “Really?! I didn’t know that! Brother, can we go?” Fiona suddenly turned to her brother who was too preoccupied with his own thoughts to pay attention to what was being said. “Where to?” Phillip asked, not even trying to hide the look of confusion that was splattered on his face. “Geez! You weren’t listening again!” Fiona spoke in a more bratty voice but it certainly suited her age this time. “Owen said there’s a new art gallery opening in a few days! We should definitely go! Can we?” “You… want to go with me?” Phillip was surprised his sister invited him, since it was rare for her to do so. “Of course!” Fiona said as she kept a stiff smile on her face. ‘Actually I prefer to go alone but it’s not like my parents would approve of that…’ She thought to herself. Regardless of the fact she was 15 already, it wasn’t like their parents would approve of her to go out and about on her own. Also they were from a rather high standing family, she would need to be with several bodyguards which would certainly make her experience at the gallery worse… “I’m glad you’ll be there, I guess we can meet up and-” Owen was trying to make a quick exit from the conversation and finally go home but the girl stopped him from doing so. “What are you talking about? You’re coming with us, aren’t you?” Fiona asked with a concerned voice. ‘I hate to say it but I really like this guy… and spending time with him isn’t annoying…’ She thought to herself as she pulled on the man’s sleeve. “Come with us, please!” She pleaded with him. ‘Of course I’m going to be there… but I have to play polite at least for a bit…’ He thought to himself. “I mean… I don’t want to intrude-” Owen said as he was interrupted once again. “It’s rude to refuse an invitation.” Phillip said in a stern voice, in fact it was so cold it sounded like he was speaking to a creature beneath him. His eyes were also as cold as ice and his face was as frozen as a Greek statue… beautiful but it lacked the warmth that was so natural for humans to possess. “Alright then… I’d be happy then!” Owen said with a smile on his face. ‘Damned sister obsessed prick…’ He thought to himself. ‘Does he really need to use such a rude tone when addressing me? When I’m playing so nice? I see why his parents want to find him a lover.’ “Then it’s settled! All of us are going there together! Oh, would you like to come over and have dinner with us tonight? I think it would be really fun!” Fiona suggested as she looked up at the man that was much taller than her…
