Ch.8 Elizabeth

I finished getting dressed for the dinner that was being held for Baroness and made my way to join the group. Everyone was already at the entrance of the castle waiting, everyone except Tristan. I noticed he was not here yet. “She’ll be here any second…where is her?” Mary asked Justin. “I’m sure he’ll be down in a moment. I’ll go get him if I need it.” Justin assured her. The carriage was making its way down the path and Tristan finally made his way over to us. He looked so handsome in his dark jeans and button blue shirt. His cooper bronze hair had been styled for the arrival of his mate. His blue eyes met mine for an instant as he made his to the front of the group. The carriage was in front of us soon, my heart clenched in my chest as a beautiful woman with blonde hair made her way off the carriage. “Baroness Vivian of House Mills.” They announced as she was made her way off the carriage that had brought her in. It was an old tradition to have people brought in via carriage not to mention the rough terrain made carriages easier to pull in sometimes. Her eyes fell instantly on Tristan and she threw herself in his arms. “I’ve missed you!” She said happily. Tristan pulled her close to him and introduced her to everyone. “Vivian this my mother Queen Mary, my sister Princess Sarah. These are my Betas Thomas and Justin.” He told her as each bowed to their soon to be Luna. Normally there would only be one Beta in the pack but the royal pack had two of each position to help with the pack due the size of it. “And this is Queen Elizabeth.” he said introducing me. I gave her a warm smile “It’s so lovely to meet you.” I told her giving her a warm hug, I wanted her feel welcomed. Though my heart was breaking into a million pieces as he introduced her, but it wasn’t her fault. She had done nothing to me, and I had to make sure I made her feel welcomed. “Thank you, it nice to meet all of you as well.” Vivian stated as well with a smile. “Come darlings lets go inside and get some dinner in you.” Mary said taking the lead. We made our way inside and everyone was in a cheerful mood with the arrival of their future Luna. I occupied myself with Justin, Thomas, and the girls trying to keep a cheerful mood during the dinner. I could see Tristan was completely enamored with Vivian. I couldn’t take much more if it. I felt sick at the way he looked at her and I couldn’t understand where these feelings were coming from. I knew that I cared for him but this felt so much more intense, and I didn’t know why. It had been years since we had seen each other yet it felt like time had never passed between the two of us. “Well it’s been lovely meeting you, but I think it’s time for me to retire to bed.” Isabel said politely. “Elizabeth?” She said giving me my chance to leave. “Yes, I think I will also be heading to bed. It was so nice to meet you, I hope we get to spend some more time together.” I told Vivian meaning it. Maybe becoming her friend would ease the pain I felt at seeing Tristan with someone else. “Yes, it was nice to meet you all as well. I look forward to it.” She replied with a smile and then promptly turned to Tristan once more. Once we were far enough away I turned to Isabell. “Thank you.” I told her. “For what? I could tell you wanted to crawl out of your skin it was the least I could do.” “Is it that obvious?” I asked worried that others had noticed. “No, I just know you too well.” She smiled. We parted ways and I made my way into my room and changed into my pjs. The castle grew quiet as everyone made their way to rooms and into bed. The next day in the evening I received notice that someone had come to see me with news from my kingdom. I made my way quickly to the study to meet with them. I walked inside but the room was quiet and empty, maybe they were in the sitting room. I turned to leave when suddenly I was thrown back with a great force that knocked me to the ground and had me hitting my head. I scrambled back up on my feet quickly but was pushed back into the wall just as fast. The man pinned me to the wall by my throat squeezing tightly but I had managed to wedge my arm between his arm and my neck. I barely noticed as he pulled out a dagger aiming it for my chest. I threw my free hand up and his dagger went through my palm making me let out a small scream. “Stop fighting and just let the inevitable happen.” He hissed at me. “Let go of me!” I said trying to push him away as best I could and keep him from choking me. I could see him start to shift and knew that he would easily overpower me once he shifted. His grip on my neck started to tighten and the room started to go black around me, my hand keeping the dagger away started to lose strength. This was it I would be done in by some random assassin. I was about to slip away into unconsciousness when a thunderous growl tore through the room, and suddenly I was dropped to the ground. I felt like my throat was on fire, and a coughing fit took over me, all I could do was focus on trying to breath. I heard a sickening c***k and didn’t have the resolve to look up. “Tristan!” I heard Vivian rush in and say with alarm. This had me looking up instantly. Had he been hurt? My attacker was on the ground, dead and Tristan stood above him fury in eyes. He took a step towards me but was stopped as Vivian took his arm. I could see others rushing in the room behind them. “Elizabeth!” Justin said rushing to my side and helped me sit up a bit straighter. “You’re bleeding. Let’s get you to the clinic.” He said placing his hand around my waist to help me up. Another growl tore through the room making my headache. We looked over at Tristan his face overcome with anger. His men had stopped dead in their tracks waiting. “Tristan, she has to see a doctor. Go Justin.” Vivian ordered taking charge of the situation. Justin gave them a confused looked but he pushed past the other men that had come to help and took me to the infirmary.
