Ch.14 Tristan We had made quick work of the attackers, killing most of them off, while the others ran back to safety. There was a gnawing in the pit of my stomach though that something was very, very wrong. “Tristan, we can’t find your sister.” Justin said running over to me. I had sent him looking for her. “What do you mean?” I growled at him in frustration. “We’ve looked everywhere, I have more men looking for her.” Justin said trying to reassure me. “Handle this, I’ll go look for her myself.” I said turning to leave, and almost crashed into my sister as she rounded the corner. Panic took over as I saw her covered in blood and her dress torn. She looked wide eyed and was shaking violently. “Sarah! Are you ok, you’re bleeding!” I said holding her up. “I…I no I am not…I mean I was but…Elizabeth. Elizabeth!” She stammered and then looked around as if realizing something. “Where…?” She kept looking around. It was clear that she was in shock. “Sarah, Sarah your ok now. Where is Elizabeth?” I asked giving her a gentle shake trying to get her to focus. “She…she was right behind me.” She said looking back towards the forest. “Justin take her to my mom!” I called out racing towards the forest. The gnawing from before was growing more intense. I caught the faint scent of Elizabeth and…was that blood? Rage took over I shifted letting my wolf loose. I found them quickly and took the first man out before he even realized I was there. The second one had his back to me and was shifting. How dare they come and harm my family, my people, Elizabeth. I growled and he turned to me and lunged. A desperate move on his part and I had anticipated it. He had left his neck exposed and I took my opening. I didn’t have time to play games. I shifted back and looked around for her. She was crumpled up and bleeding in front of a tree. “Elizabeth!” I picked her up in my arms there was blood all over her but she was breathing. I rushed her back to the castle.  “Get me Allison!” I shouted for the doctor. “This way.” One of my men moved people aside to let me go through. “I got her. Alpha…I have to work please.” Allison said trying to move me away. I growled in frustration and moved away to let her work. “Tristan!” Vivian said rushing over to me. “You’re ok! I’ve been so worried about you.” She threw herself in my arms and it took all of my will power not to throw her off me and rush back to Elizabeth. What the hell was wrong with me? Vivian was my mate and yet I felt this undeniable pull to Elizabeth. I felt like I was going crazy, trying to do right by Vivian since all she did was dote on me and love me, and fighting the feelings I had for Elizabeth. I tried to keep her at a distance fearing that I might give in to the irrational feelings I had for her, but I had pushed her right into Jacob’s arms. I couldn’t stand the thought of losing her, and now she was laying there hurt and I couldn’t do anything about. Rage took over and I felt like I needed to get some air before I tore this place apart. I moved Vivian gently away from me and went to Justin. “Justin, where is my sister?”  I asked as he came over to me. “She’s with your mom. Allison had already checked her. She’s in shock, but she’s ok otherwise.” “Who’s blood was all over her then?” I asked confused. “I don’t know. Allison gave her a sedative, she’s asleep.” “Let me know as soon as she has information on Elizabeth and stay with her.” I told him not waiting for a reply. I had already been informed that our men had finished off the attackers with a select few that were in the dungeon. I took off running and let my wolf take over. I wanted to rip apart something, how dare they come into my home and attack my people? I had taken care of the animals that had hurt Elizabeth but I wouldn’t rest until I ripped apart Blackburn. He was the one behind all this and I wouldn’t stand for it. I was gone for about two hours before Justin reached back out to me. “Alpha, Allison has an update.” “Is Elizabeth ok?” I wanted to know that she was ok but I was already racing back to her side. “Yes. She’s a little banged up, but Allison says she’ll be ok.” “I’ll be right there.” I got to the clinic, Vivian was still there and Thomas, Kenna and Isabell, had joined. “Alpha this way.” Allison said taking me into the room where Elizabeth was. Justin was inside with her. “She’s going to be ok. She has some pretty bad cuts and scrapes and a concussion that we need to monitor. I ran some basic scans on her and I’ll do some more to make sure everything is ok. She lost a good amount of blood from the cut on her arm so she’ll probably be asleep for a while.” Allison informed me. I saw Vivian make her way into the room as she finished informing us. “Everyone out.” I said seeing Elizabeth laying on the bed looking very pale and small. “Tristan?” Vivian’s voice came but I didn’t look at her. “Come on, let’s get you some tea.” Justin said trying to take Vivian out of the room with her. “But…is he just going to stay there with her?” She asked as he was taking her out the room, I heard the door close behind them. I took in the site of Elizabeth. She had stitches on her forehead and a dark bruise on her cheek. It look even worse on her ivory skin. Her bottom lip had been split open and there was another bruise on her chin. Her arm was completely bandaged up and the other was black and blue. Rage took over again as I saw what they had done to her, but I tried to reign it in, I didn’t want to have to leave her side. I truly felt like I was losing my mind. Everyone always talked about how when you found your mate she would be all you ever wanted. No one else could hold your attention like they could, heck even Thomas was proof it. He couldn’t get enough of Kenna. I could see the way he always was aware of where she was and what she was doing. They always seemed in sync with each other, and their was a look there between them that made me ache. But here I was mated and all I could think about was Elizabeth. She was the one that was always on my mind. I tried to get to know Vivian and she was constantly coming to my bedroom at night but I could never get myself to be with her in that way. I would always stop us before things got too escalated, leaving her alone and upset. But with Elizabeth it was different all did was fantasize of just holding her in my arms and kissing those red lips of hers. I selfishly pushed her away to make it easier on myself, and all that had done was get her hurt time and time again. I had sensed her that day out in the forest when Vivian had been trying to convince me to announce an engagement. I knew she was there and took Vivian in my arms to try and drive her away. It had worked. I drove her right into that opportunist, Jacob’s arms. I was a fool to think that I could make things work out for everyone, but I was hurting Elizabeth and Vivian all at once. As for me I felt like I was losing my mind. I had been gifted a mate and here I was pining after another who wasn’t my mate. What the hell was I going to do? I couldn’t just give into these feelings with Elizabeth, it would destroy Vivian. And yet I couldn’t bring myself to turn my back on Elizabeth either. “You can’t go in there!” I heard a shout outside the door followed by a commotion before the door flew open. Jacob was standing in front of me looking angry. “Where is she?” He asked as I had stepped in front of him before he could get into the room. “Resting.” I said simply. “I want to see her, I need to make sure she’s ok.” He demanded. “She is resting.” I told him once more. “This is all your fault if you hadn’t taken her away from me, she would have been fine!” He shouted at me. Thomas and Justin growled behind him. He was right it was my fault that she kept getting hurt. “I understand you concern Alpha Jacob, but she is resting now. I hope that these intrusions did not ruin your evening. My men can escort you and your guest to your guest suites.” Everyone had been alarmed by the attack, but it had been a brief attack as my men made short work of it all. Most of the guest had remained in the party area heavily guarded. Not to mention many of them were Alpha’s and Luna’s who could have put a fight as well. It was not needed though, my men had made quick work at it all and the party had continued. I would not have it said that I could not handle this issue. “I’m not going anywhere until I see Elizabeth.” He said defiantly. It ate away at me to know that another man was here demanding to see Elizabeth. I couldn’t stop him though people would know that there was something more here than Alpha concerned for one of his subjects. I stepped aside to let him in and saw that Vivian was still outside. I walked over to her placing my had on her cheek. “Why don’t you go get some rest? It’s been a long night.” I said placing a kiss on her forehead to ease her worry. “But… I’m scared I want to stay with you.” She whined. “I have to make sure everything is handled here, and I need to check on my sister. I’ll have guards stay with you through the night.” I assured her and mind linked a few of my men who came over to us. “Please make sure she is well guarded and take her to her room.” I told them so that she would know that I was sending her away. She gave a displeased look as she turned to leave, but I had told her the truth I needed to check on my sister now that Jacob was with Elizabeth. “I don’t trust Jacob, stay by Elizabeth.” I told Justin, via our mind link. Thomas came over to me and took me to my sister having heard what I said to Vivian. I went into the room and found my sister and mom there talking. “Hey, how are you feeling?” I asked my sister who looked much better. The color was back in her cheeks and she looked happy once more. “Much better thank you” She said taking a bite of jello. I noticed that her dress had been put to the side and I was reminded of all the blood on it. “Is that Elizabeth’s blood on your dress?” I asked her and she snapped her head at me. “Oh my goddess! Elizabeth is she ok?” She asked as if just now remembering what had happened. “She’s fine, relax, it’s ok.” I assured her. My mother gave her a concerned looked. “Oh good! No that was my blood.” She said simply and continued to eat. My mother and I exchanged concerned looks. “What do you mean your blood? You don’t have a scratch on you my darling.” Mother said before I could get a word out. “I…I…Elizabeth she healed me.” She said putting down her jello and getting a glazed look in her eyes. “Thomas leave us.” My mother said in a stern voice I had not heard in a long time. “Mother Luna…she healed me too.” Thomas said looking just as confused as Sarah was. His words had my mothers head snapping to look over at him. She stood up and brought him to the chair she had been using next to Sarah. Elizabeth had saved them.
