Chapter FIVE

1015 Words
I drove to school in my car as ben took his this time, it was easier for us to take two separate cars so that we can pretend that we don’t go to the same place after school hours, it made us appear less weird and suspicious of the life we were trying to hide. I parked my car and headed straight to school because I knew waiting for ben was pointless, he was going to greet and hug every girl out there till the bell rang and I had no time for that. I needed to get to my locker and arrange my thoughts and books for the day. I got to my locker and I perceived the most wonderful smell from the locker beside mine, it looks like the new girl came here and she smelt as wonderful as the first day I saw her, which was yesterday. It was a lovely combination of chocolate and strawberry and it drove my wolf and I crazy like it is doing now. I came here to gather my thoughts and those said thoughts are going haywire in a way I do not appreciate. I had to get out of here. I packed up my books and headed to the first class on my time table, it was AP calculus, yes you guessed right. I am a smart guy. All these look plus brain is really what we call a dangerous combination. I got to homeroom and I went to my usual seat to sit down, the teacher wasn’t here yet and it was ten minutes till school starts. I wondered where ben was at the moment, I was really starting to get annoyed at his antics. I was lost in thoughts when the wonderful scent again came again and I looked at the door. There she was again, standing like an angel at the door looking so uncertain being in a strange place, I remember being in her situation when I first started here, I had no friendly face to offer me some kind of comfort but at least I had my sister who I would see in the cafeteria. Our eyes locked and this was the perfect time for me to make her feel welcome and become her friend but I felt so awkward doing that so I looked away and I regretted it because my wolf reared up in my head, asking me to go to mate. He was beginning to give me a lot of headache. I couldn’t ask her to come sit beside me. Ben always sits beside me. From the corner of my eyes, I could see her face fall in disappointment over not having my attention. It was a pity but I couldn’t give her hopes just to bash it when my plan doesn’t work out the way I hoped it will be. It was better to leave everything neutral now and get close when I find a loophole to rule out the law against human mates. I watched her as she walked around the room before finding a seat by the far left of mine and I relaxed knowing she was within my sight, so my pest of a wolf won’t keep bothering me. It made me calm knowing if there was danger, I could still protect her in any way I can. She tucked her hair behind her ear as she arranged her pencils on her desk, it was adorable how she looked so quiet and humble being the new girl, she looked around again and our eyes caught again, I felt the shivers run down my spine as I locked eyes with her, at that moment all I wanted was to tell her how pretty eyes were. It was a charm and it seared right through my soul and settled there. My wolf loved her already, he was ready to move the earth just to see the smile on her face once again, and he would crush anyone who would dare to take her away from him. It wasn’t surprising that he felt this protective and possessive of her. I desperately wanted to talk to her but I wouldn’t know what to say, do I tell her to come sit with me? Or do I give her a pencil of mine? I really didn’t know what to say or do so I just stared and stared at her because that’s all I could do and that should be enough for both my wolf and I. ben walked through the door and stopped at the sight of the new girl, he whistled lowly and muttered the words “hot piece of ass” under his breath and made his way to her when I growled out at him in the mind link not to take another step. Fortunately for him, he listened to his instincts and walked towards me instead. He did the right thing because my wolf would have torn him to shreds if he attempted to take one more step after my warning not caring that they were close. He took a sit beside me and turned to me with a curious look. “Dude, what the hell was that about?” I ignored him and looked straight ahead because I had no answer for that but he knowing ben he took my silence for encouragement and continued his with his new found theory. “You have been acting strange and more grumpy than usual since the new girl came, what’s up with that?” He kept asking me till I had enough of his pestering and consistent questions. “Come on man, you can tell me anything” Yeah right, like I could ever tell him anything “I don’t know what you are talking about” He grinned like he found my moodiness amusing and teased me further. “You have the hots for the new girl, don’t you?” Ben had the nerve to snicker at me when I didn’t answer his ridiculous theory which in turn irritated my wolf and me.
