Chapter Six

**Maia**             I waited patiently downstairs. I was more than ready to leave this house. Though, now that I found my mate, it complicated things greatly. My mate made me weak in the knees. He had dark black hair that came up just above his ears, his smokey gray eyes immensely made me want to jump his bones, but it was his muscular figure that did me in. Marcel was a buff guy but nothing compared to his brother. Even with not being able to see him without his shirt, I could tell he easily had an eight-pack if not more than that. Through the white shirt he was wearing, his muscles were ready to rip through it at any minute.                          "What are you thinking about beautiful?"             His voice made me blush a little which made me gasp in horror. I never did this sort of thing. I was downright cold and that was the way I liked it. There was no place in the world for a woman to be timid. I wasn't about to let this alpha think he can weasel his way in my heart and make me forget everything I've learned on my own these past two years. Mate or no mate. I turned and walked away until I was standing next to the black SUV waiting for him to unlock it so I could climb in.             "Silent treatment then? I can go along with that. Whatever you are comfortable with. Just to let you know we will not be taking Marcel's boring SUV. You deserve to ride in something with a little more style." He walked over to the garage that was placed next to the mansion.             Honestly, the mansion could fit this garage in it no problem even though the garage had a nice size as well. He waved me over to follow him. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a set of keys. On the keychain, he pressed a button and the garage door swung open. Behind the door were a total of four other cars. I didn't know much about cars but two of them were sporty looking with two others being more SUVs. He waved me over to the red one. He smiled at me and held open the door as I climbed in. As he walked to the other side he began to take the top off. Convertible, of course, it was.             "Where are you taking me?"             "Oh so she does speak after all," he giggled. I loved the playful mood he was in but I still held up my wall refusing to let it down.             "I just chose not to speak when I don't want to."             "Fair enough," he said as he climbed into the driver's seat and started up the car by pressing a button close to the wheel. He started driving off when he turned to me. "What is your favorite type of clothing to wear?"             I shrugged my shoulders before responding. "I don't care about clothes. I've spent the majority of the past two years without them. Therefore, I have no preference."             "If it is my decision then it will be Louis Vuitton. Then from there, we will go over to Chanel."             "Isn't that like rich people stuff?"             "I suppose it is."             "Then just take me somewhere cheap. It would be a waste to spend all that money on clothes I will hardly ever wear."             When I glanced over he was glaring at me.              "Keep your eyes on the road."             He kept his annoying smile on. "I am choosing these places as you will attend numerous gala's, parties, and other events that would require you to dress in your best attire. For these events, you will need to look presentable. Not that you don't now, it is just those types of events require for you to be dressed a certain way."             "What if I want nothing to do with any of that?"             I heard as he sighed beside me. "I understand this is all new to you but you are my mate now Maia and I would like very much to show you off to the world. You are my queen now and I will treat you as such."             "Well I don't particularly enjoy being your mate either," I said with a bit of harsher tone than I intended on using.             He stopped the car in the middle of the road with cars flying past us while laying on their horns. The car was pushed into park before he picked me up and sat me down on his lap. Kali purred with excitement.               "Before you, I didn't think it was in the cards for me to have a mate. Now that you are here, I can't let you go. You need to understand that I will never force you to do anything you wouldn't want to do but please allow me the chance to show you how good I can be for you." He placed my hand over his chest to feel the rhythmic beating of his heart. "This heart beats for one purpose, you."             I flipped my head around taking notice of the few people stopping to see if we were alright.             "Do not pay any attention to them. The only two people that matter is sitting in this car right now."             "You cannot just park in the middle of the road...erm...alpha."             He busted out laughing when I said that. I didn't find it funny at all. Secretly I wanted to know his name to match the name with the face that was sure to haunt my dreams.             "Maia, I hope that one day you will take your place beside me as my luna which would make us equals. Until then just call me Enzo."              He cuffed my head in his hands and brought my mouth closer to his. I had never wanted to give in to temptation more than I did right now.              'Kiss him. If you don't I will take over and do it for you.'             'You can't do that. You only can take over when I allow you to.'             'Watch me.'             All of a sudden my eyes were forcing themselves closed. I knew from the moment my eyes opened, I was no longer in control, Kali was. I tried moving my hand but it didn't budge. That is when I knew I was in trouble. Kali was going to ruin everything for us. Our hips started moving into him before she crashed her lips over his with an intensity that set me ablaze just from watching. Even though it was her in control, I could still feel everything that was happening. I was in a whirlwind of emotions. From at first feeling anger for Kali, now to hoping neither of them pulled away from the kiss.             Enzo grabbed hold of our shoulders and pulled away. Kali whimpered begging him to replace his lips to ours. "What is your name wolf?"             "Kali."             "If this was any other moment, I would be thrilled to have met you but this wasn't your decision to make. You should trust in Maia to make the right decision for you both."             "She wouldn't know what the right decision was. Maia is a difficult person and refuses to rely on anyone other than herself. If you think that she would choose her mate over herself, you are wrong. You will see, the first chance she gets to run she will."                         Behind those smokey eyes were nothing but concern instead of the judgment I half expected to see.             "As much as it would kill me for her to come to that decision, it is still hers to decide. I have no idea what you both have had to endure over the years but if she feels like it is best to protect her heart, then I will understand."             "You would honestly watch her walk away? Because I can't! I need you Enzo, I do not want to live a life without you in it."             The back of his hand caressed the side of our face. "Me either Kali. I will work my ass off showing her that there is a different way. That she no longer has to be alone but I will never convince her to do something her heart is not telling her to do. Trust in our bond as I do." He straightened himself before clearing his throat. "Now let me speak with Maia."             My eyes forced closed once more.              'He is all yours Maia. Just know that I believe in this mating bond as much as he does. If you shall walk away from him, know that I will never speak to you again'             When she was gone, I took a minute to collect myself before opening my eyes again.             "There is the lovely Maia."             "Why did you not take advantage of me when you had the opportunity to?"             "There is no way I would ever do that to you. I know you haven't gotten the chance to know me very well yet but that isn't who I am."             The fact that he was so sincere with his words meant more to me than even I wanted to admit. It amazed me at how different he and Marcel were. He sat me back down in my seat before he started driving again.             "Your brother Marcel is your blood-related brother?"             "Yes, not by choice. I love my brother but he and I don't always see eye to eye on things. Can I ask a question now and you be completely honest with me?"             "Okay."             "Tell me what he did to you."             I held my tongue remembering Marcel's words. Enzo didn't push me though so as gratitude toward him I decided to fill him in. When I finished with my story I realized he was gripping the wheel with so much force I was afraid he was going to break it off if he only squeezed a little harder.             "Please try and calm down. I would rather not die today if I can help it."             His eyes shifted to me. "I'm going to kill him. Not that I am pissed of you being here because honestly, I am grateful for it. Buying and selling of rogue wolves come with a high price if caught doing so in our pack. So much so that if anyone else were to find out about where you came from, I would have no other choice but to either cast him out of our pack or kill him. Which I wouldn't mind swaying for option two right about now."             We pulled up to the store and as Enzo cut the engine I hesitantly grasped his face and forced him to look at me.             "Forget about all that for now. Let's try and have a good time. I promise to brighten my mood a little, as long as you promise the same."             Enzo opened his door and walked over to mine holding it open for me. "Let's go have some fun, my queen."             I rolled my eyes at him slightly chuckling. My arm linked in with his and we walked into the Luis Vuitton shop together. Once I stepped inside I held back the sudden need to run as far away from here as I could. This was most definitely not my style. That was until I spotted a pair of black sporty zipper pants that screamed my name.              "You like them?"             "Yeah, but did you look at this price tag? These things are over two thousand dollars! Do you know how many cheap clothes we can buy with that kind of money? Let me just say ALOT!"             He picked them up and placed them over his arm. Again I rolled my eyes but this time because I was slightly frustrated. I knew better than to argue with him so we continued to look. He stopped as he came across a black shoulder detailed v-neck fitted dress.             "We are getting this."             "Ew. I hate dresses."             "Special occasion dress only, I swear." He crossed his heart with his finger.             I had to find something to match my pants next. I happened to come across a red cotton-jersey sweatshirt that would go perfectly with them. I picked it up from the rack and threw it onto his arm while he silently laughed at me. I cut my eyes at him that only made him burst with laughter. Listening to his sweet laugh, I couldn't help but join in with him. Enzo then picked up a black cropped cashmere mock-neck with puff sleeves and laid it across his arm without so much as asking me my opinion. Multiple outfits later we were finally approaching the register. The lady behind it automatically blushed upon seeing Enzo. She ignored me completely and began batting her eyelashes at him. Jealousy took over me and I moved in closer to him wrapping my arm around his waist.             She started stuttering when speaking. "Will...this be all?"             "Uh-huh," I smiled at her.             "Your total...today will be...$32,658."             My jaw instantly fell to the floor. "What?!"             Noticing the cashier's behavior he played along. "Babe, don't worry about it. You can thank me later." He then winked at me.              I had to admit that being this care-free playful person around him was kind of enjoyable.             We both looked to the cashier at the same time while Enzo handed her his black card to only see her face turning beet red.             As I reached for the bags, Enzo pushed my hand out of the way. "Ladies do not carry bags. That is my job."             After that, we went into Chanel. Enzo happened to pick up some jasmine and Vanille L'huile body massage oil.             "What would you be using that for?"              "You will have to wait to see."             Enzo wouldn't shut up about it until I picked out at least one piece of jewelry so I went with an 18K pink gold diamond bracelet. I also found some light floral fragrances that I chose to go with. By the time we were done, I had spent close to $10,000.             "Can we go back now Enzo? My feet are killing me."             "A woman that doesn't like to shop."             "No, I don't particularly enjoy it though I did have a bit of fun with you. But next time we can just order the clothes online and have them delivered."             "Sounds like a plan," he said while grabbing hold of my hand. He pulled my hand to his lips and softly brushed them against it.
