Chapter 3They get back to the inn as fast as possible. It’s still drizzling, but running over wet rocks and grass or through mud wouldn’t do them any favors. And though they might have conjured some sort of protection between them, it wasn’t worth the effort. The storm part had calmed down and now only a light misting remained. No one would be harmed by it, as long as they were careful.
“Do you have a room?” Wes asks absently as he makes his way patiently through the rocks and mud of the last slope. He finds himself speaking again before he has time to think better of it, “Careful, it’s slippery.” Wes rolls his eyes at the barrage of complaints. Yes, he knows they know. Parenting is a hard habit to break.
