“When it rains, it pours,” Ollie acknowledges. Randy and Mica take baths and settle into the cozy room. It’s Ollie’s turn and then Wes’s. Wes requires the least clean up so he orders food for them. Mica’s favorites, mostly, but he makes sure there are a few of Randy’s in there too. Maybe one or two for Ollie. If Wes is right, they’re going to need the fuel. They eat, Wes takes care to brush out Mica’s hair, and they lay down on the furs. There’s laughter and everybody’s outwardly relaxed, but there’s an undercurrent of tension. Even with them cuddling and their bellies full, sleep doesn’t come. At some point, conversation peters out, each lost in their own thoughts. And still, neither tiredness nor any of the other inducements are enough to make a dent in the effect their busy minds have
