About ten minutes later, all of Cedric's troops had gathered again, but they didn't find anything. All the villagers had gathered in the field, only Evelyn was not there, but they also didn't know that Evelyn lived in this village.
Cassie felt relieved but also worried. If her mother wasn't caught, it meant she had managed to escape. But now Cassie is worried about whether the woman can survive alone out there because so far, they have always lived together.
"Prince Cedric, that woman isn't here," one of the men reported the same thing to Cedric again.
Cedric's expression turned sour. “I will kill Drey if he also gives wrong information this time.”
"How about now?" asked David, who was near Cedric.
"Give me a sketch of his face," Cedric asked. David immediately gave him what the man asked for.
A white paper with a sketch of the face of the woman they were looking for was now in Cedric's hands. Cassie, who happened to be near the man, looked carefully. The paper had not been opened, so she didn't know who they were actually looking for.
However, as soon as Cedric opened the paper, Cassie saw the picture first before Cedric showed it to everyone. Cassie was shocked when she realized that the face there was a face she knew very well.
It was a sketch of Evelyn's face, her own mother.
"Wait!" Cassie reflexively shouted when Cedric wanted to turn around.
Cedric noticed Cassie staring in surprise at the picture in his hand. "What is it? Do you know anyone in this picture?”
Cassie looked at Cedric's face and the picture alternately. The girl was confused. If they were looking for her mother, wouldn't that be a bad sign? But Cassie herself was confused about why they had to look for her mother, even though all this time, Cassie had never known that Evelyn had anything to do with the Royal family.
They just lived peacefully and comfortably for several years without any disturbance, Cassie never even found anything strange in Evelyn's behavior. Then why does Cedric, who is a Prince, have to look for that woman now?
Cassie couldn't answer, if she lied she would only suffer losses, but if she answered honestly Cassie also didn't know what her fate would be like. But now, Cassie is worried, what if the other villagers tell Cedric the truth?
Seeing that Cassie was just silent, Cedric snorted in annoyance. He finally turned around and asked the same thing to the villagers who were currently his prisoners.
“Has anyone ever seen the woman in the picture during your stay in this village? Whether just for a moment or a long time, look carefully. Do you know this woman or not?” Cedric spoke in a voice loud enough for everyone to hear.
Cedric watched their expressions, and for some reason, they looked similar to Cassie's a moment ago. He understood something was wrong, but no one dared open their mouths.
Meanwhile, Cassie was behind there, trying to give a code to the residents with a slight shake of her head and an expression full of despair. She begged silently for them not to tell the truth about Evelyn. The villagers inevitably knew who Evelyn was because the village was not that big. Cassie even knew the names of her neighbors by heart.
Cassie was silent, her body tensed when Cedric suddenly turned to her. The man smiled crookedly and turned back to the other residents. “If all of you can work together, I will not harm you and will let you all off on good terms. I only need information about the woman in this picture. I don't need anything else. So, if you want to survive, it's better to answer my question well.”
Cedric put pressure on all of them, which definitely made the villagers start to think twice about taking action. Cassie wanted to cry at her place. She kept looking at them all one by one, full of pleas not to answer honestly.
However, suddenly, a young girl stood up among the villagers. She was Lexa, and the girl was staring intently at Cassie.
'Damn, I'm really going to die today,' Cassie thought as soon as she saw Lexa standing up, she could probably beg the other villagers, but not the girl because everyone knew that Lexa had a big grudge against Cassie.
Lexa is Ben's girlfriend, and the girl knows that Ben is very interested in Cassie and always teases Cassie even though he already has a girlfriend. When news of Ben's disappearance spread in the village, the girl immediately blamed Cassie and assumed that Cassie was the one who had killed Ben.
But who would believe such nonsense? A weak Omega like Cassie couldn't possibly fight three Alphas at once, let alone kill them. That's why Cassie was never a suspect.
In fact, no one knew that that night Cassie met a strange man, because Cassie deliberately didn't want to tell about him. She kept all these secrets tightly for three months, even from her own mother.
But now, Cassie is sure that the girl will take advantage of this opportunity to take revenge on her. Lexa has failed before, so she wants to make sure that this time she will succeed.
"Is there any information you want to convey to me?" Cassie turned quickly when she heard Cedric ask Lexa. Cassie looked at the girl again and then tried to shake her head with a pleading expression, but as Cassie expected, Lexa just smiled crookedly.
"If you want to know information about the woman in the picture, you should ask the Omega next to you, she knows everything about that woman," Lexa answered very casually, a far cry from Cassie's current expression.
"Is it true?" Cedric looked very interested, and he immediately looked at Cassie carefully. "Is this girl trustworthy?" he asked again.
Lexa answered quickly, "of course, because Cassie is the daughter of Evelyn, the woman in the picture."
She don't know whether it was wrong or not, but Cassie saw Cedric's eyes widen in surprise when he heard this answer, but only for a few seconds because after that both eyes immediately went dark. The man's aura suddenly darkened and he looked very scary.
Cedric turned to David. “Now I have a reason to take her with me, right?” Cedric asked expressionlessly, and David immediately nodded briefly.
Cedric turned to the other villagers. “Since that girl was kind enough to give me important information, I will let you all go. But, remember, if you see that woman coming to this village again, immediately look for me and tell me where she is. I will give a big reward to whoever provides that information.”
After delivering these short sentences, Cedric immediately turned around and looked at Cassie. The man grabbed Cassie's arm again, this time tighter than before and took the girl away from the village.
"You, come with me," said Cedric, which sounded more like an order.
Maybe Cassie will really die today.
