Joby Karns spent the night in a fit of feverish activity. A great deal of that time was spent on the Leonean problem. Joby had to make herself an instant expert on everything the Agency had ever known about that world. Her staff had been working overtime, preparing summaries of reports to let her know what methods had succeeded on Leone in the past and which were likely to be a waste of time. The intelligence résumé of the past thirty years included biographical profiles of all top Leonean officials who might have any bearing on the present situation. The Assimilation and Correlation department added to her load by sending over piles of their own data, both on the Defense Ministry and on the mysterious Project Cepheus, that they thought might be of help.
