Casey’s P.O.V
I don’t know why we were going to the library, when I thought that all the important books and scrolls were held in her office. I followed behind Star but then I noticed we weren’t going to where she had said. I thought we were going to the library, but Star was leading me downstairs to the basement, which really confused me. Why were we going down here when the library was on the same floor as her office?
“Star, I thought you said we were going to the library?” I asked, confused.
“We are.” Star replied, but that only confused me even more. How could we be going to the library when we were going to the basement? I decided not to ask any more questions and just followed Star, knowing that she wouldn’t lead me wrong or cause me any harm. There was never any cause for me to go to the basement, so I had never been down here before. I followed Star all the way to the back of the room, until we came to a huge metal door. Star opened it and walked inside with me closely following her and to my surprise this room was full of books, some looked even older than the ones Star had in her office.
“Wow…” I whispered to myself as I looked around at everything. Everything in here was immaculate, but it did make me wonder about the safety of the books, seeing as how important and old they are.
“Why are these in an underground library? Don’t we have to be careful about moisture ruining them?” I asked, as I carried on looking around.
“Yeah we do, but we have something in place to stop that from happening, can you feel how the temperature and air are different down here, well that helps prevent the books from being damaged. Also we keep them down here because it is hidden away. When I said I was taking you to the library, you thought I meant the one upstairs and any intruders or enemy’s would also think the same library as you just did. There are a lot of important things in this room that others would love to have in order to take over this pack and many others.” Star replied, but it only left me with more questions.
“If the items in this room are so dangerous to our pack and others, then why don’t you destroy them? That way they can’t hurt anyone.” I asked, but Star started laughing.
“They can’t be destroyed and also they are this pack's heritage.” Star replied and I nodded. Star looked around and then went to the far side of one of the bookshelves. She moved a few books over and then took four books off the shelf. The books were huge leather bound books and looked really old. Star brought them over to a table and carefully put them down, gesturing for me to sit next to her.
“Alright, these four books contain everything we need to know about everything werewolf and werebear related, so let's see what they have to say on this matter.” Star said and I eagerly nodded. She took the first book and placed it between us, then carefully opened it. We looked through the first book, carefully flipping the pages and it seemed that this one was mostly about the history of werewolves, werebears and all other were-creatures. Star gently placed that one to the side before grabbing the next one and placing it between us again. This book contained more about abilities, but it was mostly about the white wolf and what it meant to be one, plus the abilities the white wolf held. The third book was all about werebears, which didn’t really apply to me, but it was still fascinating to read. The last book in the pile was our last hope of finding out anything, even if it was the smallest of things. Star opened the book and I held my breath, hoping it would shine some light for me. Star flipped through the pages until we came to one that had a small reference to copying or copier.
“Okay, so there is a little bit here, but from the looks of it, it's not a very common power, so not much is known about it. It says that you can only copy the face of your enemy, but you won’t be able to do it with your pack or family. It says that you can copy our moves and that when you are fighting you can tell what the person is going to do before they do it and then you can copy it. I don’t think you’re anything bad and there is no warning here, so to me it just means that you are a copier.” Star said, reading the text out for me. The writing was really small in this book, so Star was having to use a magnifying glass to be able to see and read it.
“Okay, so does it say anything about how these powers are activated or how I can control them or even get them to work?” I asked, wanting to know more.
“It doesn’t say, but you said that you were able to copy all of Tracey’s moves when you were sparring, so how did you do it then?” Star asked, but I just shrugged.
“I honestly don’t know, I just watched her and then did what she did. Maybe it works the same as when someone has a photographic memory, they look at something and then instantly remember it forever, maybe I just have to see someone do something and I can do it as well.” I replied and Star nodded.
“Maybe, well, do you feel any more relieved now? I know you were worried, I could sense it.” Star asked and I sighed.
“I do feel relieved because I was scared that a copier might be evil, but now I know it's not and I’m not.” I replied, thanking the Moon Goddess. Star patted my shoulder, reassuring me and I nodded, feeling like a weight had been taken off my shoulders. I helped Star put the four books back on the shelf and I was surprised with just how heavy they were. Star and I left the underground library and Star closed the door behind us, locking and bolting it as extra security.
“Right then, you have had a long day with training and then researching, but I think you need to go and rest. You are going to have a long day tomorrow as well.” Star said and I nodded, as we walked up the stairs and out of the basement. I went up to my room and collapsed on the bed. I could still smell Kirk’s scent and it made me miss him even more than I already did, but I knew he would be back soon.
Kirk’s P.O.V
I ran through the woods in my wolf form and even though it had been less than a day I was missing Casey and my mind kept going back to her. I really hoped she was doing alright in training. I knew I couldn’t ask Casey about it because I wasn’t meant to know anything and I had promised Luna Star that I would keep it a secret, but I still wanted to know. I shifted into my human form and stood there bare naked, catching my breath.
“Casey, I hope things are okay with you. I miss you, but I’m just letting you know that I’m okay and I will be back in a month.” I said, mind-linking Casey and hoping she would reply.
“Hi Kirk, I’m doing good. I miss you too, but I’m okay, so don’t worry. I’ll see you soon, we have a lot of making up to do.” Casey replied, mind-linking me back and making my heart skip a beat.
“Don’t worry, babe, I’ll be making you scream my name real soon. I gotta go back to killing rogues, but I’ll see you soon.” I said and ended the link between us. I was glad she was doing good, although I would love to know if she missed me as much as I missed her. Suddenly I smelled rotten eggs and rotten milk, that almost made me gag. I turned to see the rogue and he looked like he hadn’t showered in years. He had dirty short hair, ripped clothes and his nails were so long that I’m surprised he could pick something up to eat it, but there he was eating some kind of dead animal. I didn’t know what poor animal it was, but it smelled like it had only just been killed. I shifted into my wolf Enzo and before the rogue was done eating I ran at him, biting into his neck and killing him where he sat. I left his dead body where it fell, so that other rogues would know that if they are found on this territory, then they will be killed without mercy because I will give no mercy to those that come into our territory to harm my family, my friends or my pack.
