“I need to speak with your mother.” I tell Anthony with a straight face. What I was doing was taking a lot from me. I had not even thought about how awkward it was going to be, meeting her alone for the first time.
“What?” He replies with a short laugh. He didn’t believe a word of what I was saying. Either that or he thought I was joking about wanting to see his mother.
“What’s so funny? I need to speak to her.” I tell him, going closer to him to talk so that the usual gossips around the palace don’t hear and spill to Julian.
“Wait, are you being serious right now?” He asks with his eyes wide open at my question. His hands were holding Carissa in place so she doesn’t run off to go play when she had just finished with her breakfast.
