I tensed as the door slowly creaked open. I was frozen to the spot, perched on the edge of Sterling’s bed.
“Hello, time for your checkup! Sterling is the one that sent me actually!” Said the man.
“Dr Fulcrum!” I squeaked, recognising him.
This was the doctor I had seen for my ankle. I had forgotten about him completely. There was another person who knew about me. I hoped Sterling had sworn this doctor to secrecy.
“No one knows right?” I asked quickly. “That I…uh…”
“No one knows,” he assured me with a smile. “Everyone thinks you’re…uh…not with us anymore,” he said.
