"Aiden, are you listening to me?" Danica asked as she snapped her fingers in my face.
"Huh?"
"Second time you've zoned out on me. What's up?"
"You know what." I replied with a deep sigh while rubbing my temples, "You got my attention now. What's up?"
She pointed up and I looked to the side of me to see the waitress standing near me with a small memo pad in her hand.
"She's been waiting for you to order."
"Oh, Umm... Just a coffee. Black. Thank you." I said. The girl nodded then went away from the table.
"Now as I was saying," Danica began as she put her hair over her shoulder," I met with Adrianna as you asked. She seemed a bit on edge but nothing too major. We talked a bit but when I asked her where she was from....she got really...I don't know, antsy? She said she had to leave and left fast."
I rubbed my chin and nodded slowly. For the past few months, it's been a battle to get Adrianna to open up about herself or why she won't stay more than 10 minutes around me or anyone else. Since the first time I brought her to dinner at my parent's house, she's never come back nor did she want too anyway.
It hurt me a lot to be apart from her for even a second but what can I do? Force her to stay with me? My original plan was too get her comfortable around me and let her feelings grow until she's ready to move forward...but it just looks like the more I show her that I care, the more she distances herself. Does she even feel the pain that I do? Does it even bother her to not be close to me like it bothers me? Probably I'm just overreacting, I mean she is my first and only mate...the only one I'll get for the rest of my life...
Fuck that, I'm not overreacting.
"What are you going to do about her?" Danica asked and I shrugged.
I had no clue what to do.

"Aiden have you gotten in contact with Iris yet?" Kaden asked me and I shook my head.
"I did," I replied and tossed a file folder on my desk and then spun my chair around to face my brother. "He's pretty pissed. As well as Ilene. They don't believe Danica is your mate. That it's just smoke and mirrors to get out of the wedding."
Kaden rolled his eyes. "Whether they're mad or not isn't my concern, I just want to be sure that i***t isn't going to take us to war."
"Iris?" I asked.
"No, Ilene." He said as he squinted his eyes and gave me the hand sign for 'What The f**k Are You Saying?'
I waved him off and he leaned off of my bookshelf and headed for the door.
"I gotta go. I promised mom a foot rub."
"A foot rub?" I raised a brow.
Kaden looked back at me over his shoulder then sighed, "I lost a bet."
"Never bet with mom. You always lose even if you think you've won."
"Yeah yeah I know." He replied then disappeared out of my office.
I contemplated for a moment then grabbed my car keys and left.

I knocked again.
Then again
Then again
And nothing. Maybe she's not here? I take her scent but then again, I'm.standing right in front of her apartment door. Her scent is bound to be all over it.
I felt disappointed. As much as she was pushing herself away, I wanted to at least hear her voice.
"Aiden?"
I turned around fast enough to give myself whiplash and I gazed at my beautiful mate who was standing a few feet from me with plastic bags in her hand.
"Adrianna..I'm sorry I didn't call...but I just wanted to see you," I said.
She stared at me for a moment then nodded. "It's fine. I wanted to see you too."
I could have sworn I just felt my heart do a backflip.
"You did?" I asked again and she nodded with a light blush on her face.
"Let me help you with your bags," I said and I advanced towards her but she shook her head.
"No, I've got em. Just get the door for me, please. Keys are in my back pocket."
I was a little in shock for a second. She's holding like 5 or 6 bags in each hand but then I remembered she's a werewolf. And I haven't even seen her wolf yet!
I took the keys from her pocket while fighting back the urge to grab her a*s. Goddess, help me.
I unlocked the door and she shuffled inside quickly to put the bags down. But just as she was about to out them down, one of them suddenly burst and the contents fell onto the floor. Adrianna groaned and I hurried to pick them up for her. As I was picking them up and handing them to her, my eyes gazed at a certain bottle that made me raise my brow in...curiosity.
Well, that's not your everyday seasoning.
