5. Little mouse got courage

Shane's POV I walked into my house and looked around. It was quiet. Did mom leave already? I smirked as I remembered Anna's face when she was told about the party. I wondered if she will chicken out and not go. Jayce will be pissed if he doesn't get to go to the party because of her. "Where the f**k have you been?" mom yelled from the kitchen. I sighed and went into the kitchen. Here we go again. "Where have you been?" she repeated. "I've been sitting here all day waiting on your useless ass. Did you forget what day it was?" she snarled. Shit...I did forget. I was supposed to take her to the doctor's appointments, but I completely lost track of time. "I'm sorry, mom, I forgot," I said quietly. "You forgot. An asshole, just like your father," she mumbled. "I said I was sorry, okay? Why do you have to be like this?" I groaned. "I had to work hard to raise your ass alone, and this is what I get in return. Little shit." I walked away before she said something else and ruined my day completely. "Don't you walk away from me!" I heard her call, but I didn't stop until I reached my bedroom and slammed the door shut. I never understood my mother's hatred toward me. It was as if no matter what I did, she wasn't satisfied. I worked hard to get good grades. I even got a part-time job to help her out, but it wasn't enough. f**k her. At least I had something to look forward to this weekend. Adriana. I will finally have the chance to make a move on her. The next day, Jayce and I decided to meet with a guy named Maxi to grab some 'party favors.' Three of us decided to meet up behind a grocery store and do our exchange. It was going to be a quick in and out thing. Maxi handed Jayce a small plastic bag, and I took out some money to hand it to Maxi. "What are you guys doing?" I looked behind me as I heard a timid voice. What is the little mouse doing here? Jayce looked uncomfortable and quickly put the bag in his pocket. Maxi looked at Anna curiously. She stood there staring at us accusingly for a moment, then opened her mouth again. "Is that what I think it is?" she said. The girl got some galls to try and stick her nose in our business! "It's none of your concern Anna. Go home," Jayce said irritably. "I can't believe you, Jayce. I'm telling mom and dad. You're in so much trouble!" Anna screeched. Oh no, she was asking for it now. "Hey now, little girl. No need to tell people about this. I'm sure we can work something out," Maxi smiled slyly and grabbed her hand. "Dude, let go of my sister," Jayce said. Maxi let go of her immediately and put his hands up in surrender. Jayce turned back to Anna. "f**k off, Anna. I said this is none of your business, so keep your mouth shut." "I won't!" Anna shook her head. Oh, for f**k's sake. This little runt is going to ruin everything. "I'll handle this, Jayce. You finish up with Maxi." I grabbed her hand. "Let's go. We are gonna have a little chat," I said to her. "I...I don't want to," Anna said. She suddenly looked nervous, as she should be. I took her hand and didn't stop walking until we reached my car. I opened the backseat door and motioned her to get inside. She shook her head no as if she had a choice. "Get in, right now," I ordered. "No, I won't," she said. "Get in, or I will forcefully put you in," I said irritably. "You know mom is in the store right now. She'll wonder where I went and..." I picked her up and threw her in the back seat. "Shane!" she cried. I got in beside her and shut the door. "I told you to get in nicely, but you wouldn't listen," I smirked. "What do you want?" she asked. "What do I want? You're the one sticking your nose where it doesn't belong." I put my hands on her sides, caging her in so she couldn't escape. "Well, excuse me for caring about my brother. What if he gets in trouble? I bet it's all your fault. You taught him how to do drugs. Otherwise, he'd never do something like this. You're a terrible friend!" Anna rambled on. "Watch what you're saying before I get pissed off," I barked. "I don't care. Now let me out. I need to tell mom and dad so they can stop Jayce. You can go to hell for all I care but don't drag Jayce down with you!" she frowned. Oh, look at that. Little mouse got courage. Too bad I'm about to break it again. I roughly grabbed her face and kept her pressed against the car seat. "You will do no such thing." I leaned over. Our faces were so close I could hear her heart and feel her breath. If a passerby saw us they'd think we were about to makeout. "Let go of me, Shane. You're hurting me," Anna croaked out. "If you go to your parents and rat us out, there will be consequences," I hissed. I let go of her face but kept a tight grip on her shoulder. "Are you threatening me? What can you possibly do? You can't hurt me. I am your so-called best friend's sister." Anna whimpered. "Don't test me, Anna. You don't know what I am capable of. Do you really think I care that you're his sister? I bet he wouldn't give a s**t if I hurt you. It'll save his ass," I grinned. "That's not true. Jayce is my brother. He will hate you if you hurt me," Anna said, but I could tell she wasn't confident about her statement. "Wanna find out?" I chuckled. Anna fidgeted nervously. "I won't tell anyone," she said quietly. "Good girl." She darted off the car as soon as I let her go.
