Shane Clark has a secret: he cannot stand his best friend's little sister, Anna Garcia. There's just something about this girl that really bothers him. As her brother's best friend, Shane is supposed to feel protective of her by proxy, but he just can't do it. She bugs him. Her very existence annoys him.

In the eyes of everyone else, Shane Clark is a model student: kind, polite, respectful of everyone, and seems friendly of everyone. But not for Anna.

For the last few years, Shane has been her constant tormentor, as though he spends every night thinking up of ways to psychologically and emotionally torture her and Anna doesn't understand it. In front of everyone else, Shane is perfectly nice to her. But when it's just the two of them, the warfare commences.

That's why she's decided to do the opposite: be so nice to him that he either leaves her alone or he snaps and does something publicly so that everyone will know Shane is secretly a raging, chauvinistic psycho.

1. What's good, little nerd?
I lay here helplessly as Shane loomed over me. His light grey eyes bored into mine. It was as if he wanted to devour me, but at the same time, he was disgusted by me. His eyes were fixated on my body. He breathed heavily as if he wanted me. Impossible. Shane Clark wouldn't want someone like me. He said I was too dorky and called me funnyface all my life. I was a mere plaything to him. "Let go of me, Shane!" I exclaimed. I tried to wiggle myself out as he pressed me against the bed. Goddammit, why was he so strong? I felt his hands sliding under my shirt. His hands were warm as if he had a fever. Wait. Hold up. Time out! "What are you doing!" I looked at him wide-eyed. I bet I look like a fish. "What do you think I'm doing?" he smirked. "Stop that, you pervert! Where do you think you're touching?" I sneered. I gasped as I felt something hard touching my stomach. Oh my God! Is that his.... "Don't pretend like you don't want this, Anna," he hissed. Okay, I know what you're thinking. Who is this boy and why is he touching me, and who am I even? This is happening two months into the future, so how about I go back and explain? Shane Clark is my older brother Jayce's best friend. They had been friends since they were in elementary school. They did everything together. They were so close that people thought they were brothers. So since I was Jayce's little sister, Shane would naturally be protective over me and treat me as a little sister too, right? WRONG! Sadly, it was the opposite. The torments began when I was eight, and he was ten years old. It started out as small teasing. The basic ponytail tugging, shoving me lightly, making fun of my cooties. But then, as we grew older, his teasing and torturing became more...lets say...sophisticated. I never understood why. Why did he hate me so much? I didn't remember doing anything bad to Shane. Ever! And don't give me the bullcrap about how he picked on me because he liked me because none of that was true. If it was, he would've stopped once we grew older. Instead, it has gotten worse by the day. I have become Shane's number one victim. It wasn't like he was your typical high school bully. He didn't go around beating up nerds and stealing their lunch. He was a 'straight A' model student. He was involved in sports and after-school activities. He was the kind of teenager who grownups refer to as a 'fine young man.' I was the only one who knew the real Shane. A true devil in the form of a human who hated me for a mysterious reason. I tried to tell Jayce, but he didn't believe me or simply didn't care. I even told my parents, but they brushed me off. Who? Shane? He doesn't mean any harm. He is just teasing you. That's what they told me every time I complained. I was doomed from the start. Screw them! I looked into the mirror and sighed. This was the first day of my sophomore year, and I was far from ready. Most girls in my classes had passed their awkward stage from the ninth great and blossomed into beautiful young women, and here I was, same ole dorky Anna. Oh, don't forget flat-chested. I was in what you call the itty bitty titty committee. In other words, while all my fellow Latina friends looked like voluptuous goddesses, I looked like I had the body of a 12 year old boy. f**k my life. I mean, don't get me wrong. It wasn't like I was ugly or anything. I had a 'cute face,' but boys in my school didn't want cute. They wanted sexy. You know...those i********: model types. A thought occurred to me and gave me a glimmer of hope. Maybe Shane will be too distracted by other girls to notice me this year! Not being as hot and sexy might be a blessing in disguise, I thought. Here's to hoping. I put on the most boring outfit I could find. A pair of jeans with a plain white T-shirt. I tied my hair into a ponytail because they say ponytail is one of the most basic hairstyles known to men. No make-up. There, I won't be attracting any attention. I skipped downstairs to have breakfast with the rest of my family. "Good morning princess, ready for school?" my dad Benjamin Garcia greeted me with a toothy smile. He was the kind of guy who looked happy no matter what. "What's up, dork?" Jayce suddenly came up to me and flicked me on the forehead. "Ouch! You jerk!" I whined. "Be nice to your sister, Chico," my mom Olivia sneered at him. I rubbed my forehead and begrudgingly bit down on a toast. Why did I have to get the most annoying brother in the world? After breakfast, we were off to school. Jayce separated from me and went somewhere. Most likely to find that asshole Shane. The first, second, and third period passed, and I didn't see Shane anywhere. Maybe I was blessed by the anti-bully Gods, and they exiled Shane somewhere far away so I would never have to see his stupid face again. I opened my locker. Since it was the first day of school, my locker was empty and lacked personality. I'll have to think of a way to decorate it later. I put some of my books inside and proceeded to close the door. I screeched as I felt a heavy hand slapped my back from behind. It squeezed my shoulders so tight it almost hurt. The hand spun me around, and my eyes met with a pair of wolf-like grey eyes that looked almost silver under the bright fluorescent lights in our hallway. It was the devil himself. Shane freaking Clark. What's good, little nerd?" Shane grinned. Dammit, he found me.
