Chapter Eight - A Slave for You

1589 Words
"They were trying to escape," River's attacker scoffed, crossing his arms across his chest. "How are you able to partially shift and why are your eyes purple?" Alpha Remus questioned me without letting go. He had ignored the man for the moment. His attention was on me. "I don't know," I said honestly. "And even if I didn't, I wouldn't tell you," I spat squirming in his grip as if I would be able to miraculously break free. Alpha Remus was silent for a moment with hazed over eyes staring into nothing. He must have been speaking with his wolf or mindlinking someone. The entire time River remained silent and Aurora was gone. She had taken the opportunity to flee. I didn't blame her for leaving us behind. She must have been an omega here her entire life. She was desperate to get out. Maybe she would be able to tell someone we are here, someone that would come rescue us and tell the other packs of the horrific things this pack was guilty of. "You two are prisoners of war. You won't be going anywhere. You know too much. If either of you escape you will be killed immediately," he said. River nodded her head weakly. Her eyes were down cast. I had failed her. "There were three of them. One of the omegas was with them," the strange man said. "Your actions tonight will have grave consequences," Alpha Remus put me down and turned me to face him. I could feel that my eyes had returned back to their normal green. I felt completely defeated. "Maybe we can keep River in my bedroom," the strange man laughed. "That's not a terrible idea," Alpha Remus seemed to agree. "Oh please no! She's been through enough!" I cried. "Silence!" Alpha Remus's voice boomed through the pack house. I was certain the event had woken up the entire pack house, but no one dared to enter the kitchen with an angry Alpha. "Alana Gray of the late Full Moon Pack, you will be my chosen mate," he said suddenly. "What?!" We all shouted in disbelief. "Over my dead body!" I spat and Alpha Remus simply smiled down at me as if he was pitying me. "You are something special Alana. Your wolf has purple eyes for a reason. You and I will have a powerful heir," he explained. "And if you do so willingly I will relieve River of being the pack's w***e. She will go back to her original tasks as long as she doesn't cause trouble. I will make her as comfortable as is reasonable for a prisoner." I stood there in silence, contemplating his offer. "Don't Alana, I did this to take your place. Don't make me going through this all in vein. Save yourself for your mate!" River pleaded and it was the most I had heard her speak since her innocence was stolen. "If you don't do so willingly, you will be forced to. I will chain you in my bedroom if I must and River will stay in the cells when she isn't pleasing the unmated males," he warned, eyes narrowing as he waited for my response. The reality was, I didn't have a choice but to comply. The alternative was drastic and inescapable. River was silent now. We knew there wasn't anything either of us could say in this moment. I was living in a horror movie that you saw on TV or one of the sad stories that repeatedly played on the news. I was one of those missing girls who would never be found again and my fate was in the hands of my captors. I hung my head in defeat. "Then I have no choice, but to accept," I said sadly, trying to stifle my sniffles. My eyes felt wet with tears that refused to fall. "I will make the announcement tomorrow that you are my chosen mate," he smiled in his victory. "Take River back to the omegas' quarters and inform Sasha of the changes," Alpha Remus commanded. "Yes, sir," the man nodded and grabbed River firmly by the arm as if she was going to try and bolt. He didn't even attempt to contest the Alpha's decision regarding River. He wouldn't dare challenge him. Instead, he escorted River back to the omegas' quarters as he was instructed. Now I was left alone with Alpha Remus. "I'm very curious about you, Alana," he said finally letting me go. I was both so angry, so sorrowful, and so afraid of what was about to happen to me. "Don't worry, I will treat you fairly as my chosen mate as long as you cooperate. Is that understood?" He spoke to me almost as if I was a child. I merely nodded in reply. "I wasn't aware of anyone in the Full Moon Pack that was different," he said more to himself than to me. He was clearly pondering if my uniqueness was from my parents somehow. "You knew my pack well?" I asked feeling the loneliness and grief wash over me. My heart deeply ached for the home and family that are gone. I also felt hot anger boil inside of me for this was the wolf that gave the orders for it all to be destroyed and I was his prisoner and now chosen mate. "Why did you kill them?" I asked him angrily. I glared up at him, feeling Astra surfacing and wanting to take control. For the first time, I was able to feel my wolf. "I'm going to get you some more wolfsbane. I expect you to continue to take it daily," he ignored my questioning entirely. He didn't even acknowledge it and that made me angrier. "Why!?" I was now yelling at him, my hands squeezing into fists. "Remember what I told you would happen if you do not cooperate," he warned me threateningly. His own eyes turned black as his own wolf was also rising to the surface as if to answer Vesper's angry challenge. I looked away and crossed my arms over my chest. This was the most torturous punishment I could endure. Having to lie in bed with my family 's murderer. Fate was so cruel. "Come, I will show you to our room." He said and led me to the third floor of the pack house. The entire third floor was for the alpha and his family or guests. It looked surprisingly simple, but lavish at the same time. The furniture was a dark wood color and the walls were blue. Everything was dark either bits of blue colors that popped out. There were several beautiful pantings lined on the walls down the hall way. They were of various things by different artists. His room was no different than the rest of the third floor. It was the same gray and blue colors. It was an enormous size. It was more like a condo suite with spacious rooms than a single room itself. "You won't be allowed to leave this room without me or Alaric my beta," he said. "I will make certain immediately that there will be no chance for you to escape. Nova will also be closely watched, but I will also make sure she is made comfortable as I promised." I was listening to his words while my eyes danced around the room. My eyes spotted a gray leather couch in the small living area. It was like an extension of the room itself. I figured that's where I could sleep. The thought of sharing a bed with Alpha Remus was sickening. Alpha Remus was also quite a bit older than me. He looked to be in his mid-thirties though I didn't want to ask. He could have aged from stress of running a pack or look more youthful than his years. I didn't want to know. "I will have one of the omegas come take your measurements and will order clothes for you. If there's anything you need, let me know," he said. I turned around to face him. "Okay," I said sadly. I felt completely defeated. "I will see you tonight my mate," he grinned at me before leaving the room. I heard the lock click as he left, locking me in it. I threw myself on the bed and starting sobbing hysterically the moment I heard him walk away from the door. I wasn't going to give up on my plan of escaping. I would never give up on trying to get away no matter what the risk was and I knew River wouldn't want me, too. If I had to bet, I'd bet she was also trying to come up with an escape plan of her own to get us out of here. Unfortunately, we weren't going to escape with our innocence. We were slowly losing peices of ourselves in this nightmare. Even when we manage to escape, I knew they would come for us. We knew they were the ones that slaughtered the Full Moon Pack. Now, they also knew that I had a unique wolf. What that meant, even I didn't know, but they weren't going to let us go. We would have to go as far as we could from this place. Even if that meant living among the humans. Anything to ensure we never get back here. I made that a promise to myself. That would be what would keep me going, the promise of freedom for both River and I.
