Chapter 6 Lion Ring

1087 Words
Nina was sitting in the living room with anger in her eyes, staring directly at Kevin. He shouldn't have left her alone and work to have fun with her sister.   "Nina, are you okay? Why do you look so unhappy?" Emily saw Nina's face pulled her aside to ask.   Kevin shook his head helplessly as the two ladies whispered, thinking he could not hear them. He glanced around, moving his ears from time to time. After his long-term training of life and death, his ears and feelings were strong enough to hear anything happening within two kilometers. He could hear the slight electronic hum from the monitor.   “Your house is a mess. You need to clean it up!” Kevin said suddenly.   The two sisters couldn't believe what he was saying. They thought he was joking, but he had such a serious look on his face. The house wasn't dirty; they had maids come in three times a week. However, Kevin grabbed a rag and started cleaning.   "Hey, is there something wrong with your eyesight?" Nina asked.   "No. How about you guys cook supper tonight, and I will clean the house? Deal!" Kevin ordered.   "Hey, how could you talk to me like this, you..." Nina wanted to tell Kevin precisely what she was thinking, but Emily stopped her.   Emily was in a good mood and didn't want any arguing. Besides, they usually cooked supper, so what Kevin said only made sense.   Once the two women went into the kitchen, Kevin began searching for the monitor. He searched all the rooms on the main level and the balcony; then, he went up to the bedrooms. Two of the rooms were locked; he assumed one was Nina's room and the other was Emily's. He quickly went to another room and found the audio monitor under the bed.   He stood up and sighed, wondering who would do such a terrible thing to them and how long it had been there. As he collected all of the house monitors, he realized they were not something one could buy in a store; they were military-grade and produced in Japan. Kevin didn't understand why someone would have them in the house, what kind of information they were looking for.   As he held them in his hand, he cursed, “I hate those damn agents! I would like to eliminate all of them! Why would they come here to spy on my ladies?”   “Hey, time to eat!” Nina called from downstairs.   Kevin quickly pulled out a piece of cloth from his pocket and wrapped the monitors to block all sound.   There were six different dishes on the table; all of them looked delicious.   "Nina said that you are a foodie; that's why we made a lot," Emily said. It was strange that she couldn’t help but smile when she was around Kevin.   "Sure, I can even eat an entire lamb myself. Then I will go for two days without a meal if there is no food at home.”   "You are just showing off! Stop making up stuff!” Nina snorted coldly, still angry about being left at work.   Kevin didn't say anything more; he just sat down and ate his meal plus most of the food on the table. Emily and Nina only had a small amount, but Kevin was happy to finish the rest.   When dinner was over, they had to talk business. Most of the details were laid out at the office, but a few things were left to go over. They needed to talk about Kevin's clothing, actions, and his position at the company, and, most importantly, the upcoming party for Emily.   As her fake boyfriend, Kevin would be Emily's date, he nodded with understanding but had a question. He asked, "Can you pay me a month's salary in advance?"   Emily laughed again as soon as she heard his request, “No need! I will give you $5000 as a bonus for the great job you did today!”   “Well, I guess I am rich then!” Kevin excitedly rubbed his hands together.   The two sisters had to deal with their own work, so they walked Kevin to his room, which was next to Emily. They weren’t worried because they always kept their bedroom doors locked.   The house had a flowery smell to it, but Kevin assumed that a house belonging to two women would smell like. His bed much softer than what he was used to, and he had a hard time falling asleep. He was still furious about the old man kicking him off the team and arranging his marriage. If he ever got a hold of him, Kevin vowed to get revenge. He thought of calling his mother to get more information about his future wife but decided it would be best to wait until he made some money.   Kevin laid down on the bed again; he figured he might as well stay and enjoy his time with the two sisters. After all, they wouldn't be safe until he figured out who put the monitors in their house. It took a long time, but Kevin finally fell asleep, he wasn't sure how late it was, but it was dark when he suddenly opened his eyes. He had heard something outside; there were three people on the roof. He jumped up out of bed, then rushed out of the window like lightning. He landed quietly on the roof to see three figures creeping along on the roofline.   Kevin could see they were trying to break into Emily and Nina’s rooms.   "Be careful, don't wake them up! Just check the monitors and leave! Got it?" The man in black whispered in Japanese.   Kevin sneered. He never thought they would actually sneak into the house while the women slept. He smiled at the thought of the fun he was going to have. He flew toward the man standing in the back with a flash, but one of the others noticed Kevin and slashed a knife toward his face.   "Anthony Fox?" Kevin frowned and caught the knife between his fingers, "Cappon Gang?"   "How do you know? Who are you?" The man in black asked in fear. He didn't dare to move after seeing the extraordinary power Kevin had. They never expected that the women had hired a bodyguard.   Suddenly, the man in black saw the ring on Kevin’s finger shimmer. He quickly recognized it as the Lion Ring.
