#13 high elder and the elders

Abby woke up to a laughing Abraham and David talking to him and making him laugh. her eyes drifted open as she watched them play together. " good morning sleeping beauty. " she heard David from the living room. she grumbled looking at the time. it was already 10 am and she had slept almost all morning.

" I must have been exhausted " she said as she got out of bed wrapping a robe around her. she walked out of the bedroom and to the living room where David was playing. " I need coffee so bad!" David smiled knowing how addicted to coffee she was.

" I was able to get word out to the elders and the high elder. we will meet with them tomorrow at noon. also, the council has set the trial for Chloe for 2 months from now. It seems like a long time from now but with the council that was speedy."

" have you heard anything about my dad. is he doing better?" David smiled lovingly at Abby. He loved how much she cared for her family.

" The moon Goddess mated me to the most amazing woman. I could never have asked for someone else. You are perfect. Yes, they were moved into better accommodation and a doctor and nurse on staff for them 24 hours a day. the royal doctor wants him to stay put for a week and then he will reevaluate and go from there."

" do you think the elders and the high elder will help?"

David motioned for the nanny to come and get Abraham and he joined Abby at the kitchen table with some coffee. he reached for her hand and squeezed it. " I think we have a fair shot. I think the scrolls will be hard for high Elder Ryan to agree to it. but I think we can do it."

" how many elders?"

" 6 elders and then the high elder. usually the high elder is only a vote if it is a tie. the high elder is also charged with protecting the sacred scrolls and the writings of our history. he has had the most training and has taken a vow as the high elder to be loyal to the scrolls and prophecies. he also, along with the 6 elders uphold the laws of our kind."

" wouldn't it be nice if we had just a simple normal life and could just be a cute happy little family?"

David smirked as he kissed her neck. Abby curtsied bowing slightly as she did so. "please call my Abby." the elders looked at her studying her every move. Abby waved towards the chairs in the conference room. " I had lunch prepared for everyone and Sarah here will take your drink orders. please sit and be comfortable. " Sarah went around the table getting drink orders and lunch was served promptly. " please if I may have everyone introduce themselves. I am still trying to learn everyone's names. forgive me." David was impressed as she was playing right to their egos and need for over the top respect.

the high elder started talking for all of them and introducing each one. " I am high elder Ryan and to my right these three are elder Eric, Elder John and elder Rafael and here to my left these three are elder Cameron, elder Cody and elder Joshua. I here you have some questions about a legend of the wolf War. or as we call it the war of beasts and also the sacred scrolls ? please enlighten us as to why you are inquiring about such matters."

Abby could sense the condescending tone of the high elder and the way each elder looked at her. by all means she was the outsider a human only turned wolf. a she wolf at that. they were definitely old school thinking. " high elder, elders, if I may?" she knew playing into their game was key. she had to learn more of this legend and see the ancient scrolls. " I only inquire about such matters since recent events have suggested that the war of beasts is coming sooner than thought. it is imperative that we as a kingdom learn everything we can to help guide us in this war. that includes the ancient scrolls. " child, what makes you think this war is happening any time soon?" Abby couldn't help notice the condescending way high elder Eric called her child.

" I believe this war is happening soon and we should prepare ourselves because I believe I am the wolf descendant from the moon Goddess herself. " she watched as all their faces dropped in shock and they whispered amongst themselves in disbelief. Abby closed her eyes and placed her palms on the table in front of her feeding off the energy in the room. the wind began to pick up outside and she could hear the whispers of the forest beyond. her eyes turned from emerald to white as she listened to the voices. " the forests have had enough of you. if you so choose to ignore the truths it will cost many lives and the forest will swallow you for you are not hearing her warning. a great war is coming. now is the time to prepare. the moon Goddess herself has given you a precious gift to help aid you all. do not take this for granted. " Abby's voice was hallow when she spoke. her voice was not her own. all the elders were watching her as she spoke and her eyes were the color of opaque white. the wind started to simmer down and her eyes closed as she slumped into her chair. David reached for her and when she opened her eyes they were her brilliant emerald green.

She could see David smiling down at her. his hands were holding one of hers. " I think you scared them my queen. " she looked at the silent elders sitting there with their mouths opened.

" do you think they will listen?"

" how about giving them a taste of what your wolf can do? just for show. maybe also to put them in their place. " a devilish grin crossed his face. their condescending ways was not lost on him either. Abby nodded her head at David understanding they may need a push.

Abby closed her eyes and concentrated in her head trying to focus on just one object in the room. she could feel the energy buzzing in her ear as she focused on the table in front of the elders. the wind started swirling in the room and papers started flying. a funnel began to form in the middle of the table and lightning began to radiate from the funnel of wind. clouds began to form and rain started pouring in the office and thunder boomed out as lightning struck an empty chair in front of the elders. with a twitch of her hand it all disappeared leaving a singed broken chair and a drenched set of elders. Abby smiled at them still dry and he hair still in place. she had not been touched. " high elder Ryan, I am hoping we can come to an agreement. we really need the ancient scrolls and as much knowledge of the legend as possible. hopefully this won't be a problem for you. "

the high elder and elders quickly recovered themselves and talked amongst themselves in whispers. they had never seen a human turned wolf be a descendant from the moon Goddess. they had always assumed the great wolf would be born wolf. they concluded their talk and gathered themselves. high elder Ryan cleared his throat before beginning to talk. " this is highly unusual for us. we had all believed the wolf would have been born amongst us not a human turned wolf. however unusual this is, we can not deny there is definitely something given to you by the moon Goddess herself. however, the sacred scrolls were not meant for just any eyes."

Abby stood up slamming her hands palm down on the table in front of her. fire raging in her eyes. " if you deny this then their blood and the blood of their families will be on you! your ignorance will be the death of many! now think before your next words come out of your mouth. the moon Goddess does not make mistakes but you high elder Ryan are merely a wolf." Abby sat down waiting for them to react.

high elder Ryan rose to his feet in pure anger. his eyes bore through Abby like a dagger. " how dare you talk to me or any of us like this!"

" no! how dare you disrespect the moon Goddess like this! there is no other higher power than her! she is giving you a choice between life and death and if you choose wrong it not only means the senseless death of many that you all could have protected but it would ultimately be the demise of yourselves all because you couldn't put aside your egos!"

the elders talked amongst themselves again in hushed whispers. they were clearly unhappy with the way she had spoke to them but they could no longer deny that she was special and possibly given from the moon Goddess to save their kind. " we have agreed. you will have access to all the ancient scrolls and the books on the war. please accept our apologies for our doubt and disrespect " high elder Ryan bowed and they all stood and filed out of the room. leaving David and Abby watching behind them.
