#12 Chloe and a witch

the men slowly followed Abby as she made her way to the door of the cabin. she put her hand on the door and her eyes went white once more. she could feel the vibrations of the energy radiating off the door. the forest whispered into her ear, and she nodded at the words. she turned to David to speak. " The cabin is spelled. I can feel the energy from the spell coming from the witch. the forest said that they are all here but that my father is hurt. Chloe is having the witch use dark magic to hurt him."

" use of magic or harm to humans is strictly forbidden. the magic council must be notified. they most likely will strip the witch of her powers if they can make it here on time." Abby saw him mind linking his warriors. " the council is being informed of what is happening. can we enter or is it spelled so we can't?"

" once we open this door we have to enter fast. the spell will kick in and hurt anyone who enters after. we may have time for 5 men before the spell is at full power. I will stand here and feel so no one gets hurt." David nodded and Abby reached out for the door swinging it open as men piled in. she could feel the energy becoming greater and greater and finally it was too much. she slammed the door shut behind her so no other warriors could enter. they were piled in a dark hallway that led down a dark stair case. she could feel her family getting closer and her father growing weaker. she reached out grabbing David. " my father is getting weaker I can feel it. they are trying to drain him of his life with magic."

" we need to get to them fast." down the dark stairs was another door. Abby looked back and nodded her head. she could feel them just beyond the door. she felt the door for the energy being given through the magic. she could feel she didn't have much time. with a deep breath she pushed open the door as they all came rushing into the room. to the corner was her father slumped to the ground his body lifeless and his eyes coldly staring into nothing. she saw her mother Carole and Tracey tied up as Chloe held a knife to her mothers throat. the witch's eyes were blank as she chanted in a language Abby didn't quite know. waves of light were draining from her father. Abby knew she didn't have much time to react.

Abby shifted to her wolf and lunged towards the witch knocking her off her feet and stopping the draining of life from her father. the witch screamed out in pain as she slammed to the wall. they watched as the waves of light started returning to her father's lifeless body. " you think you are so clever dog! " the witch looked at Abby as her eyes went blank again as she started chanting once more. Abby could feel the vibration from the energy the witch was trying to steal from her. she shifted back to her human form coming down to her knees. She could hear her wolf reaching out to her in her head.

let go and release me Abby. I'm here to help.

ok! just kill this b***h so we can stop her!

she felt the silent nod of her wolf as she relented and gave her full control. her wolf came forward without shifting grabbing the witch by her neck. the witch was shocked, and her chanting ceased as her wolf crushed her neck. a small smirk crossed her wolf's mouth as she leaned in to whisper in the witches ear. " I was given this power from the moon Goddess herself. don't you think she would give me a way to protect myself from your magic?" Abby could feel her hands turning slowly into her claws as she sliced the witches head off. she watched as the witches head rolled to the floor and stopped at David's feet. everyone was looking at Abby as she gained control again then turned their eyes to Chloe still holding a knife to Abbys mothers a look of shock and horror across her face.

" Chloe," Abby walked methodically towards her as she gripped the knife even tighter. her mother's eyes looked helpless and scared. " let go of my mother and you won't die by my hands." Abby had never been so calm in her life. It was as though she had been taken over by another. Her voice calm and soothing as she spoke to Chloe.

a wild look flashed across Chloes face, and her features no longer showed the shock and horror that was once there. anger slowly took over and she looked at Abby with venom in her voice. " you took what was supposed to be mine! it was promised to me! so I will take what's precious to you!"

Abby flicked her hand and Chloe looked as though she were frozen. unable to move her knife across her mother's neck. Abby walked closer to Chloe bending down towards her. " nothing I have was ever promised to you. and I promise you that if you do not release my family and friends you will pay with your life. I'm trying to be merciful to you Chloe."

" NO!"

" then so be it. not only will you lose your life tonight but so will all of your family. my wolf wants to wipe out your blood line and erase it from history. "

" what?"

" oh yes, have you not brushed up on your very own laws? the punishment is death not only to you but to your entire bloodline thus erasing it from further staining the royal lineage. "

Chloe looked at Abby in hate and disgust. " they had nothing to do with this!"

" neither did mine. yet here we are. the consequences are yours to chose. if you harm my family then I would have no choice but to harm yours."

" you will let my family live if I let yours live?"

" yes after they are interrogated to make sure they had no involvement. they will however be taken of their royal titles and no longer allowed near the castle. I will reach out to other packs to see if they would be welcome there as omegas. that is the best I can promise for the sins of their daughter."

Chloe looked defeated but nodded her head. Abby released her hold on her as Chloe dropped the knife. warriors came pouring over arresting her and hauling her off. Abby untied her mother as everyone was helped out of the cabin and into the open clearing. Abby could feel the magic was gone. once outside she was greeted by 6 high council of magic. they greeted Abby and introduced themselves. " the witch is in the basement. she is deceased. her body is yours to do with whatever you deem necessary. I'm sorry that she had to end that way. it was the only way to stop her from sucking the life out of everyone in the room." they nodded and proceeded inside.

" let's get everyone back to the palace and then we can start the interrogation of Chloe and her family. "said David. Abby nodded as they made their way back through the forest to the waiting SUV and warriors. her father was already being rushed to the royal hospital at the palace and her mother with him. Tracey and Carole were waiting for her. they came running to her wrapping their arms around her. Abby felt the relief flow through her body as she released the tension that had built up in her muscles. her friends and family were finally safe.

" so what happens to Chloe now?" Abby climbed into the back of one of the SUV's. David took a deep breath and let it out.

" unfortunately after interrogation will be a trial for Chloe. her parents will be permitted to come and watch even if they are banished. it is their right as long as they are found not to have had knowledge or involvement. Chloe has already had you kidnapped along with my fathers help and now this attack on your family. they will most likely sentence her to death."

Abby nodded in acknowledgement at David's words. she squeezed the bridge of her nose as she felt a headache forming. " can we ever just have a peaceful existence? will this always be like this? our jealous exes trying to harm us or our family?"

" unfortunately as a royal we don't have normal lives. some are jealous of the power and wealth and yet others just like the thrill of harming those that are innocent. we are high profile so we are at greater risk than most. however, there is a legend that the moon Goddess will send a wolf to restore the peace within the land and people. this wolf will face many trials but in the end will bring peace to the packs and to the royal family. the moon Goddess will give this wolf great powers and gifts that can only be shared with mates. I believe that wolf might be you."

" how do we find out and how am I supposed to be bringing peace to all the land? how does one even do that?"

" well according to the legend this wolf will have great powers and with this wolf's mate together they are an unstoppable force. there will be a great battle amongst the beasts but yet not a single life will be lost during this battle on either side. all the alphas and their packs will bow down stopping the war on the battle field. it is a war among wolves but will usher in the great peace. that's pretty much all I know."

" how do we find out more? I feel a need to learn more about this legend and the war among wolves. I think we should try and prepare ourselves if it is true."

" I agree. we could ask the elders. they may have more knowledge and also the scrolls. in order to go through the scrolls we must get permission from the high elder. he would be the highest of all the elders and the final decision would fall on him." Abby took in David's every word as they finally arrived at the castle. she jumped out running to the royal hospital to check on her parents.

she saw her mother holding her fathers hand as he lay on a bed. he wasn't moving and there were tears coming from her eyes. Abby tried to prepare herself as she walked up behind her mother. " mom?" her mother turned around throwing her arms around Abby and pulling her into a warm embrace.

finally letting her go and looking her over for any injuries. " your father's going to be alright. he is asleep they gave him something so he could rest but he is expected to make a full recovery. you saved his life dear. you saved all of our lives." tears ran down Abby's face. her father was going to be ok. they stood there for a while holding hands and watching over her father. Abby was trying to take it all in before her life would be thrown into more chaos.

" you guys need to stay and meet Abraham. he is growing so fast and I wish you would stay a while. there is plenty of space and room for dad to recover and lots of help so you can have a break also. please mom, talk to dad about it?" Abbys mom nodded and soon Abby started to yawn.

" go up to your baby and husband dear. we will be fine here. "

" actually they are going to take you and dad to one of the royal hospital rooms where you can rest and shower and both of you could be more comfortable but still get the best care. perks of being the queens parents." Abby smiled playfully at her mother. she felt her mom pat her hand and saw a smile on her face. she wished she could always see that in her. the happy mom she once was before all of them were thrust into a new world. Abby squeezed her mother's hand and bent down and gave her father's cheek a kiss before heading to their living area in the castle. all she needed right now was to hold Abraham and see her mate.
