#14 the legend and the scrolls

the next day the elders sent the ancient scrolls to the palace with a guard. the scrolls were to be protected at all times. Abby and David woke up early pouring over the scrolls soaking up as much as they could. taking in everything they could fit in to one day. by the time lunch came around the elders had sent the only books available on the war of beasts. " I'm hungry David. let's go see our pup and eat and then come back to this. we aren't getting anywhere yet and we need a break."

" I agree. plus, I really miss our little guy." they walked to the stairs and made their way up to their living area. they spent an hour eating and cuddling their little one before heading back down to the ancient scrolls and books on war of beasts.

" David a lot of this we already knew. none of this says why the war starts and none of it says anything we don't already know. are we sure the elders gave us the right scrolls and books? it feels like we are being stonewalled. "

" let's look over some more of the books there has to be something here. if not, we will call the elders and call them out. "

after hours of looking through more books they came on a passage.

"The Moon Goddess will deem one wolf worthy of her gifts. this wolf will usher in the sounding of the horns and a great war will begin. many will lose their lives but out of the ashes this great warrior will arise. this warrior has the gift to breathe life back to those who truly deserve it. those who hearts are not evil. the war of the beasts will happen, and this wolf will stop it and usher in a thousand years of peace amongst the beastly creatures. the wolf will be a ruler among the beasts and will share my gifts with only a true mate. together they will be unstoppable but separate they will fall. "

" David does this mean we must fight together or else we lose? I may have to start training with you. "

" it might not be a bad idea. better to be prepared I think. I think I found something else here."

"behold the jewel of the kingdom. the precious gift. take care of this jewel for there will never be a gift like this again. this gift can bring life and take it away. this gift will heal the hearts of beasts but before that will be a war among the beasts. a great war that many will die but behold this precious gift can give back the lives taken. the precious jewel will conquer and defeat thy enemy. a deceiver amongst the beast turning hearts cold with lies. true love will help this gift defeat the evil and peace will fall on the land. "

" my wolf's name is jewel. do you think that's what this is about? and who is the deceiver who turns hearts? it's all so cryptic."

" it's because even though this war will happen there are choices which may decide what happens. we have free will to make choices and those choices can change the outcome. " Abby sat there pondering what David was saying. if we all had free choices then how does a fated mate work? did we have that choice? David could feel her worry and reached out grabbing her hand. " I can tell what you are thinking. yes even with fated mates we have choices. you could have rejected me or even I rejected you. even with a fated mate we have the choice not to follow our hearts but I knew I wanted this. I wanted you and our family and I was never letting that go. you still could chose not to be with me. you have that choice."

" my king, I would never chose anyone but you." David smiled at her bringing her to his lips. they spent the rest of the day going over the books trying to find out anything else. " I think we are going to have to leave it at that for today. do you think the one that turns so many to hate is already here? "

" it would make sense. I think you are the wolf from the moon Goddess and I think whoever this person is it will be someone who knows you used to be human turning people against us because you are not of royal blood. if my father has taught me anything is that there are plenty of people who believe that you must have noble blood to rule in this kingdom."

" great. so an unknown enemy is out there spreading hate because we dared to love each other. let's go eat dinner with our little guy. I really miss him." they were able to eat together as a family and spend time just being close. Abby couldn't get the thoughts out of her head. Chloe was in the cells so she really didn't have access to people and her parents were taken off the royal court who else would be turning people simply because she was not of royal blood. her thoughts swarmed in her head until she fell asleep tucked in David's arms.

" wake up my child" Abby slowly lifted her head and opened her eyes. she was near a lake. the moon was full and cascading light across the waters surface. she was on the embankment over looking the water. the moon Goddess sat beside her. " I know you have a lot of questions but we don't have much time before I must go. yes you are the wolf of the books and scrolls. you are very special a gift not everyone will want to receive. some will have their own ideas of what you should be and harden their hearts to you. there is a heart amongst you turning some hearts cold to you and your gifts. this will start a war amongst the beasts. many of these will die in battle. you have the ability to draw on the strength of your mate to heal and bring them back to life. however, you must not let your heart harden. your love and pure heart is the greatest gift you have. remember this."

" moon Goddess?"

" yes my child."

" what if I'm not strong enough for this?"

" trust me, you were born for this." she smiled as she slowly faded away. Abby turned to watch the moonlight dance across the water before she laid back down closing her eyes. she was filled with peace that only the moon Goddess could give her. she still had her doubts but if the moon Goddess believed she could do it she was going to try everything to make sure she didn't let her down.

she woke up quickly but realized she was back in her bed with David asleep next to her. he startled awake with her sudden movement. " Abby? are you ok?"

" yes, I just forgot to ask her how to heal and bring people back."

" wait what? ask who?" David was confused as he wiped the sleep from his eyes. He was still partially asleep as Abby spoke and he wasn't sure if he had heard her right.

" the moon Goddess. she visits me sometimes. she said I can heal and use your strength to bring people back. I just forgot to ask her how."

" I knew you were special but a wolf having visits from the moon Goddess is rare. you really are special and not just because I think so." David rolled over on top of her pinning her underneath him. she smiled up at him knowing where this was going. " my queen,"

" yes my king?"

" I would like nothing more than to worship your body right now and pleasure you." she giggled at him nodding her head allowing him access to her neck. " use your words little fairy. I love to hear you speak and tell me what you want."

" yes my king. please show me how you would worship my body."
