It had been a few months since the incident with his father. the trackers had not found Chloe but they had fallen into a nice routine and Abraham was growing fast. he was now a laughing and smiling little guy and rolling onto his stomach. Abby stayed cautious of her surroundings when out because there was still a threat but she had begun to feel safer as time passed. today all the alphas from their territory were coming for a celebration dinner before the full moon. wolves from around the territory were coming to celebrate the full moon and hopefully find their mates. Abby was nervous about leaving Abraham with the nanny but was reassured by David that everything would be fine. She was busy getting ready into her gown for the evening.
her phone pinged with a message as she picked it up she could see the message was from her parents. it would be the first time they came to a full moon celebration and she was excited to have them there. Carole and Tracy would be coming with them. turns out they were both she wolves all along from different packs. they were expecting over 1600 wolves here tonight for the celebration. one of the largest turn outs. running late dear will be there shortly, love you mom. Abby couldn't help but smile. her mother always ran late and she was sure Carole and Tracy made it worse. Abby pushed back the nagging feeling that Chloe would show up and do something. it was something she could never fully get out of her mind. having her out there somewhere not knowing where and not fully feeling safe always nagged at her. she tried pushing the feelings away just trying to enjoy the moment. She had her little boy and David and she needed to try and stay present in those moments. Still getting Chloe out of her mind completely never happened. She wanted her baby to be safe and free from the chaos of it. She wanted him to be able to live without the fear of it all. The way she was raised.
the ceremony was about to commence and Abby was waiting for her friends and family. she was feeling anxious but had to push it all aside until after the ceremony. " what's wrong little fairy?" David came beside her taking his place.
" Carole and Tracy and my parents still aren't here. I just feel something is off." she bit her bottom lip trying to suppress her nervous energy building inside of her. David leaned down kissing her forehead trying to reassure her. He always had a way of calming her but for some reason there was a nagging in her that wouldn't subside. David could feel her nerves through their bond but tried to reassure her anyways.
" let's get this ceremony started and then we will call and see what is going on." Abby nodded her head in agreement. she just couldn't push the feeling away. they walked hand in hand walking to the microphone to commence the ceremony. Abby was distracted waiting and watching for her parents. by the end of the ceremony Abby couldn't stop the nagging inside her head. she knew something was wrong. she ducked away to look at her phone. still nothing. she called and texted and waited for anything. she decided she had to know what was going on and where they were.
sneaking out of the banquet hall she made her way to her room and changed quickly. she checked on her pup and then had a driver meet her out front of the palace. " head towards my parents place but please drive slow so that I can see if there was an accident or maybe they broke down. " the driver nodded and began driving away from the palace. the driver turned onto the road and slowed down as she watched out the window. " please be ok" she whispered to herself. after 30 minutes of driving she saw headlights coming from off the side of the road. " pull over here." Abby jumped from the car peering over the ledge. she could see a car down the edge. the driver was behind her.
" The palace has already been notified we should wait until they get here to go down there your majesty. "
" like I'm going to wait! that's my family down there!" she slowly made her way down the embankment. as she made her way towards the car she could see the front windshield busted and the doors of the car were open. when she made it to the car it was empty. there was blood on the air bag and the side passenger door window. she looked around to see if they were close. maybe they got out. maybe they were safe. she called up to the driver. " they aren't here! no one is here!" she was frustrated and scared. fear creeping into her mind and paralyzing her ability to think. she fell next to the car tears streaming down her face. she never even noticed more black SUV's pulling up at the top of the embankment. There was noises behind her then arms wrapped around her embracing her in warmth and soothing her body until she looked up into David's eyes. " something happened and I don't know where they are!" she yelled and nuzzled her head into his chest. She was filled with fear and dread at the thought of her parents and her friends. She would never forgive herself if something had happened to them. They were her life and she needed them.
" we will find them. I have our best trackers on it now. come on let's get up to the vehicles. let's get you safe so we can find them." she let him help her up as they climbed their way back up. She felt her heart tighten each step she took away from her parents car. he helped her to the waiting SUV. she looked out the window a blank expression on her face. her body was numb and the cold was setting in. She could hear talking but she just closed her eyes begging for her family to be ok. the moon lit up the sky and cast and eerie glow across the road. she felt eyes on her as she turned towards the woods on the other side of the road. she felt a pull like something was telling her to go there. she slowly exited the SUV and made her way to the illuminated tree line. " Abby!" she could hear David call her name but she needed to be in the woods and find her family. she felt them there. she felt it in her soul. just as she started to step into the forest she felt an arm on her wrist pulling her back into reality. " Abby? what are you doing?" she looked at David as he looked on in confusion. She looked back at the woods calling her to it. Pulling her to her family.
" I can feel them here. I can feel them close. something is wrong David. I need to go to them. Please, just trust me."
" you can't just go alone. we need to gather warriors. it's not safe."
"call the warriors and tell them where we are going but I can feel we don't have time to wait. please David." she was begging as the feeling built inside her chest. her heart was beating faster and the urge to find them was becoming greater. It was calling her and pulsing through her like thunder in the clouds. he nodded his head and some of the men that was already there followed them as they changed to their wolves and pounded the ground following Abby. they were running for a while when they came to a clearing in the woods. off in the distance was a cabin. The cabin was small. Nothing much to the eye but Abby knew she needed to go there. they switched back to their human forms and quickly dressed. " they are in there. I can feel them. someone's hurt." David was beside her as she spoke.
" We need to stay along the tree line and try to get a little closer so we don't alert anyone we are here." David was looking around the area trying to determine the best way to go about this.
something in the wind changed and a gust blew by them. Abby could feel the energy it was giving off and feel the forest talking to her. her eyes went white as she listened to the whispers. suddenly her eyes turned to emerald again and she took David by the arm. " no, it's a trap. there are traps all around the tree line. make sure everyone knows even the warriors that are coming. the only way in is through the front door. she had a witch to help."
" how do you know this?"
" I can feel the forest and nature and what it tells me. it's one of my gifts." David stared at her in awe and a bit of shock. He didn't know all her gifts, but she never ceased to amaze him.
