the warriors had doubled training spending most of their days building endurance speed and strength. Abby had started training with them sparring some of the greater warriors and soaking in as much as she could. her speed had increased, and she now was fighting some of the upper-class warriors. what she lacked in strength she made up with in her speed and agility. David walked in carrying Abraham waving at her as she began a match against a warrior. she was trying to stay focused but watching David's abs ripple as he walked was a huge distraction. he looked so delicious she wanted him. she shook her head trying to focus.
the warrior landed a punch to her face, and she felt the trickle of blood down her lips. she wiped it away with a smirk. " You got me I was distracted. it won't happen again." she waited watching him circle her like a lion circling it's prey. he was hungry but she was hungrier and needed to prove she was worthy. to Abby this was more than just training. this was a display of her courage and her worth. she had more to prove than the men of the wolf kingdom not merely because she was a she wolf but being born human she was looked at as weak. she had to prove she was valuable to the entire kingdom for her sake and her sons. he came running at her shifting in the air as he pounced. she slid under him kicking up with her foot connecting to his most sensitive spot shifting to her wolf as she did so. she watched as he landed to the ground and jumped on top of him her jaws over his neck forcing him to submit. she released him shifting back to her human form and grabbing a shirt and shorts to cover her body.
the warrior stood up bowing his head in defeat. grabbing a towel to wipe off the sweat she made her way to David and Abraham. " I think you made a huge dent in the poor guys ego." David smiled giving her a quick kiss on her soft lips.
" I have more to prove than he does." she gulped her water letting it quench her dry throat that was beginning to feel like the dessert. David took her hand and led her to a seat. " whenever you do this there is bad news."
he smiled at her nervously knowing she was right but trying to pretend it wasn't true. she knew him well. " we were given notice from the elders and high elder. "
" what did they have to say?"
" they received a letter of intent from the Lycans. they intend to start a war and challenge me for the crown and kingdom." Abby stared at the ground a blank expression on her face. they both knew the war would be declared but neither thought it would happen this soon. she took a deep breath and placed her hand on his. She was trying to will her strength to him. She wanted him to know they were in this together. She would stand beside him united the entire way through. Even if it meant her death.
" I want to send Abe away with my parents to where the humans are. he will be safer with them away from all of this." Abby was prepared for her death but not the death of her sons. She wanted him safe. She didn't want him in the war or anywhere near it.
he shook his head vigorously at the thought. David was not prepared to send part of his family away. he would fight to the death if someone tried to harm his son and he could not keep him safe if he was with the humans. " no, he would not be safer. how would we keep him safe from harm? Lycans could come after him. well anyone could. he would be safest here with us."
" David, he is a target here. we can hide him out at my parents vacation house in Nevada at least until this is done. most people don't even know it is there. "
" only if there are guards there to protect him always."
" I agree. now when do you think this war is going to happen?" Abby felt a sense of relief at the thooght of Abe being away from the fighting. She knew that war could be ruthless, and she did not want him close to it.
" the letter of intent stated two days time." he sighed. sorrow evident in his features. he was hoping there wouldn't need to be a war but it was here and fast. Abby smiled at him.
" well let's start preparing and let's gets Abe and my parents out of here. I think we should have a decoy. have them go through the escape tunnels and a decoy drive out through the front in the SUV. I have a feeling we are definitely being watched." David agreed to this. it was a smart plan and would be easier to hide them and keep them safer. the preparation began to move them out that evening, bags were packed and warriors already picked. a decoy was put into the SUV and sent off. waiting at the escape tunnels Abby and David said their goodbyes to her parents and their baby. " I love you guys. be safe." they watched as the warriors and her family disappeared into the tunnels. her heart was aching as they went deeper into the tunnel. tears falling from her eyes.
" Abby I'm sorry it has to be this way. we will see them again when the war is ended. hopefully things will be safer for them and for us and we won't have to worry about this any longer. please tell me you understand?"
" I understand his safety comes first. I will never understand this kingdom hating him because he is only half wolf." she looked up at David's eyes and saw the sadness beneath the surface. he knew she was right. he knew deep down there was a chance that some would never accept who she was and who their son is. he just prayed that it didn't take its toll on his family and that the few would not be as out spoken as the many.
the entire vibe had changed now that Abe was gone. Abby spent most of her time training for the next two days. David trained as well, but his heart was heavy with the sadness of the pending war. he knew that this war was going to determine a lot. the borders were well guarded and alarms were set up all over the land. wolves were brought closer to the castle to better protect them from the impending war. women and children were brought to safe houses to help keep them from the war. the morning of the impending war Abby and David woke up to the morning light flooding into their room. they were quiet as they ate breakfast waiting for the arrival of the Lycan elders and wolf elders. they would meet first to come to a resolution first, before starting a war against all beasts. Abby and David knew it would not work. the prophecy was clear that the war was eminent. it was fated. the only thing they could do now is be ready and use the strengths they gave each other to make it through and save lives. The clock was ticking slowly torturing them as they waited for news. they had received word late the night before that Abe and her parents arrived safely and were fine which left them relieved at the thought. at least there was one less thing she would need to worry about with all of this exploding doom around her. David leaned over and kissed her lips.
" just in case I don't get a chance to kiss these lips for a while." she gave him a half hearted smile her stomach threatening to release everything she had eaten. the stress weighed heavily on her and nothing felt like it would calm her. there was a knock on their door and David stood up and walked methodically towards the door. this was the moment they had been waiting for. the moment they would learn the pending decision of war or peace. it would have been just as easy to chose peace but they wanted to over throw his birth right because he was fated to a human and had a half human baby. he was not letting his birth right up. he would fight for those that would suffer under Lycan laws and rules and he would fight for everyone in his kingdom even if they fought against him. he slowly opened the door taking in a deep breath and saw high elder Ryan there. they bowed respectfully at each other and David offered him to come inside.
The high elder nodded his head looking up into David's eyes. " son," the elder let out a deep breath he wasn't even fully sure he knew he was holding. his face left no indication of what was to come. his face always the stoic expressionless feature that held nothing. " the Lycan elders and our elders have met. we have come to the decision that we will go to war. they want the crown and to rule over all the beasts of both kingdoms. this was not satisfactory, so we fight a battle we may lose but we die trying. " David wasn't shocked or surprised. he knew the Lycans thought it was going to happen. the Lycan egos wouldn't allow them not to fight. they wanted the power and felt they deserved the title over David. the answer was clear as day. the facts were etched on his mind. the war of beasts will happen. everyone in his kingdom was in danger and he could not stop it.
