it had been three days since war was declared. the boarders were closed down and security had been tripled. David had been in nonstop meetings trying to figure out how the Lycans planned on attacking and when. there was a commotion, the door flung open, and a warrior came running into the conference hall. " Your majesty, we are under attack. mind link is down. we aren't sure how. you need to get to safety!"
" no, we all stand together to fight. get the warriors together let's finish this!" David ran to his living area where Abby was watching out the window. she did not budge as he burst into the room. Concern clearly written on his face and sadness in his eyes. His soul ached for what he knew was happening. He had only wanted what was best for his family and people. He wished there was any other way, but he knew this war was happening no matter what." it's started." she turned and nodded. She made no attempt to calm him or ease his mind. They both knew this war would be brutal and they were the key to saving so many lives. They were both the key to the future and the peace of their kingdom. they both said nothing as they made their way down the long corridor to the fighting outside. she looked around as Lycans and wolves fought each other and bodies of both Lycans and wolves lay lifeless on the ground. the ground was filled with blood. the air filled with the stench of the metallic smell. The c*****e was already raging through their lands. Abby and David both watched in horror as Lycans, and wolves tore each other apart. Abby reached out to David grasping his hand in hers. She gave it a quick squeeze as they both knew the consequences of war. It all meant the loss of innocence. even if she were able to bring everyone back like prophesied the damage would be evident and irreversible. The land would be forever tainted with the blood spilled. Blood that didn't need to be spilled.
out of nowhere a beast jumped in front of David and Abby snarling his teeth at her and trying to s***h David. he shifted quickly into his wolf form. his jaws sinking into the beasts shoulder and ripping mercilessly. the beast howled in pain lunging again at David. David stepped out of the way letting the beast fly past him as the beast reached out slashing David's torso. David let out a cry of pain as blood rushed out. the gashes were deep and not healing very fast. David fell to his knees and Abby came running to his side. she reached out holding his chest she closed her eyes. a white glow surrounded her as a bubble of protection encased them from the fighting around them. David looked down at his chest that had a glowing aura around it as the slashes in his torso disappeared. " we need to do something. the Lycans are slaughtering our people. Abby, we have to fight harder." David could feel the warmth of the light that encased him. He could feel his body healing as the light touched him and spread out. He placed a hand on Abbys cheek.
Abby shook her head knowing he was safe. she stood up and moved towards the open field. her eyes had rolled back showing the whites of her eyes. Lycans and wolves were brutally fighting around her. She could feel the anger and fear pouring out into the air. out of nowhere a Lycan lunged at her. a sudden wind forced the Lycan to stop suspending him midair forcing him to stop from attacking. all of a sudden Lycans were being picked up in the air and levitating unable to fight against it. Wolves stopped attacking Lycans as they stood in shock unsure of what was going on. Abby moved her head to the left and all of the Lycans were forced to move with her movements smashing against trees. they were left stunned on the ground. all the fighting around her stopped as wolves and Lycans began watching her immense power that was consuming her and spreading on the ground oozing out of her. No one was fighting any longer. Everyone stood there watching her in awe.
The bright light flowed from her body as it spread from deep within her spilling out onto the forest floor. The light grew brighter blinding everyone around her. Spreading its warmth across the field. Lycans and wolves fell to their knees as the light spread across the land. the light felt pure and one of peace. everything it touched was cleansed of the blood that stained it. the power grew and spread even further as it purified the earth of the stench of blood. there were gasps from wolves and Lycans as their fallen brothers rose and life was breathed back into their bodies. David looked over at Abby and her body rose in the air as the power coming from her body grew. there was a sudden burst of energy that exploded from her. Her body fell to the ground. David could hear as her body hit the ground the sound echoing through his ears. He watched helpless.
David ran to Abby holding her close she was not moving. Lycans and wolves watched as all their fallen warriors kneeled to Abby out of respect. Tears fell from David's eyes as he begged Abby to wake up. He was holding her in his arms screaming for her to be alright. Fear of losing her creeping into his mind. the fighting around them had fully stopped and now not a single Lycan or wolf were on their feet. all were bowing to their queen who gave life back to everyone that had fallen. her strength had given them their friends back. David rose from the ground and holding her close to his body he carried her back to the palace. everyone bowed and took a knee as he walked through the castle with Abby. She had become their savior. Their source of life. A doctor came out of a room rushing towards them and a couple of nurses came with a bed taking Abby from David's arms. He could feel the instant dread as they took her from him. He cupped her cheek and looked to them pleading and begging for them to make her better.
" save her please!" he begged as they wheeled her away. it felt like hours went by as David paced the floor. every time a door opened he would stand hoping it was news about Abby. he could hear the clock ticking by. as people rushed around and warriors both Lycan and wolf came pouring in. everyone confused and in shock. no one quite understood what had happened but they were all aware that they were saved and given a second chance. Abby had saved them. She gave them life and peace.
war is brutal. no one is immune to it. it comes creeping in taking away your sense of peace and ripping families apart with its brutality. Abby saved them from the pain of lost loved ones to senseless violence. she sacrificed everything to make sure they could go home at night and be with their families. Abby never even thought twice what it meant to use her powers to save so many. it drained her body of every ounce of energy she had. she could feel herself draining as she felt life breathing into those that fell. she could see in the recesses of her mind the life flowing from her to them. she knew her sacrifice. she gave it freely knowing that she could lose her life. she knew that she had to spare the lives of those on that battle field. she willingly stepped into that clearing and gave herself to them. She wished more than anything she could be there for David and watch him be the king he was supposed to be. she wanted to see Abraham grow up and learn to be a man. Abby knew that her sacrifice would mean that so many lives would be spared the agony of a loved ones loss. war brings death. death in war is inevitable so to sacrifice herself to end the war was something she knew in her heart she had to do. she felt herself lift off the ground and she felt her energy deplete as she willingly gave it to Lycans and wolves alike.
she felt that last bit of herself go as she watched her body sink to the ground and watched as David held her body with tears down his face. she watched as he picked her up and carried her body lifeless to the palace hospital. "I love you David. " she whispered as she watched him disappear. then she felt the darkness engulf her like a blanket warming her from the reality of her death. she gave herself to save the many and she could only pray that someday he would understand and not hate her for what she had to do. war is not pretty and there are always sacrifices for our choices and actions.
