they made their way down to the forest and walked until they made it to a clearing. there was a lake to one side and the sun beat down glistening on the water. Abby watched David spread a blanket on the ground and set up all the food. he looked up watching her play with their son a smile spreading across his face. he watched as she spun their son around and his laughter rang out in the air. he walked up behind them wrapping his arms around her waist. kissing her forehead he whispered in her ear, " you are so beautiful my queen." she smiled wide at him, her emerald eyes sparkling like jewels, and she felt the warmth of his touch and the sun beating down. " Thank you for this. for this little guy and our little family and for this day." she kissed his soft lips. " Come on let's eat. I think we all needed this today." David grabbed Abraham from her arms and took her hand and led her to the blanket. they were sitting and talking and eating the food when they heard something near the tree line. David looked up quickly but saw nothing. " There is someone here." Abby was staring straight in the direction of someone standing and watching them as they ate. she could hear David in her head through the mind link. act like you don't see anyone. the warriors are circling in. Abby nodded her head continuing to smile and feed Abraham. laughing at his facial expressions. she looked at David nervously as he smiled back. the person turned just as the warriors burst out of the tree line tackling the person to the ground. David sprung up running to his warriors. " Who are you?" he growled trying to fight his wolf from taking over. David looked down at the man in shock. he smelled nothing. there was no scent. " You are Lycan." he said, and the man's eyes went big. " What are you doing on my territory and watching my family?" the man was raised from the ground with pure silver cuffs on. he looked at Abby and Abraham then at David. " I have come to offer you a deal. the only way they will allow your wife and child to live." David's wolf pushed forward sharing the same space. David's voice changed as his wolf spoke. " What do you mean? are you threatening my family?" the man watched as David half turned to wolf. even a Lycan could not do that. his body was partially covered in fur and his teeth had elongated. his face contorted into half man and half beast, and his claws had started to peak out of his hands. David was fighting the urge to rip the man apart and fought his wolf to stay put. the man seemed unsure of himself as he spoke. " I was sent to give you a deal. they will spare your wife and son if you relinquish the thrown and allow the Lycans to take our rightful spot. If you chose not to take the deal then they will come for her. they have eyes through out your palace. they have been watching you." " why not just challenge me like our laws. both our laws allow? why come for my child and wife?" " they want to take over the kingdom and rule over both wolf and Lycan kind. you have tainted our lines with a human and a half breed and they feel you have violated our sanctum with this. they do not want a half human ruling over the land." the man fell to his feet as the warrior kicked his legs out from under him. David nodded to the guard and they started walking him towards the royal cells for prisoners. " this is me not accepting your offer or their offer. she is my wife and queen and that is my son and heir and some day he will take over. it is what the moon Goddess designed. if they want a war then we shall have one. we will be ready." David walked back to Abby and Abraham and sat down to finish his picnic. Abby didn't want to pester him yet with the baby there so they just pushed it aside and finished their day together. nothing could ever just be drama free. the sun had set in the clearing and the chill of the night had begun to set in. they decided to pack up and head home so Abraham could get some rest. even with the Lycan their day had been exactly what they needed. once they reached the living area David leaned in and kissed Abby. " go get him cleaned up and to bed and we can talk about what just happened. she nodded in understanding not wanting to have the conversation in front of Abraham. David started dialing phone numbers as she was bathing the baby and letting him splash in the tub. she couldn't help but wonder if this was always going to be like this. was her life destined to be chaos and doom at every corner or will there finally be rest? after drying and dressing the baby she read him a book before laying him down to sleep. even though her life felt like one chaotic event after another she would never change it because it brought her David and Abraham and she couldn't imagine her life without them. they gave her the will and desire to keep going no matter what. this was her peace and her home and she would fight every battle she had to in order to come home to them. she made her way to the living room and sat next to David leaning on his bare chest and breathing his scent to calm herself. " ok tell me what's going on." " he wanted to make a deal. if I give myself up then they won't harm you or Abraham. they want the throne." David looked off into nothing his eyes blank. if he were being honest he was thinking about it to ensure Abby and his child's safety but would they be honest about that. could he trust it. " No, that's not happening and that is not the prophecy, and they will still come after us. no, we need to stick together and do this together David. I mean it." she was sitting up looking him in the eyes not allowing him to look away. she knew he was thinking about it. she knew he wanted them safe but she would never agree to it. she may not have chose this but she was choosing it now. " the prophecy says together and it is really clear about that. I can't do this alone. be my strength. you promised." they lay quietly holding each other until she fell asleep. she felt herself being lifted and brought to their bedroom. she snuggled into him relaxing into his warm touch a comforting feeling that spread across her body. waking up the next morning she was wrapped into his arms laying on his chest. his warmth was radiating through her body and giving her a sense of peace. she knew she needed that peace right now given the last few days of events. not being able to trust someone you thought was family hit hard but she couldn't dwell on it. she knew she needed to stay strong and keep going. it wasn't going to be easy. it felt like she was giving up a sister, but she quieted her restless heart and kept on going. she knew she had no choice now. her life was only going to be crazier the closer they got to war and by the looks of things it was going to be sooner rather than later. now they had to get all warriors into training harder so they could be more prepared to fight against Lycans. it was the only option left. this war was now eminent, and danger was only increasing. how many others felt like Carole? how many others were willing to sell out their own kind because they didn't want a human ruling over them? it felt like no matter what she did she would never be looked at as anything but a human. but she was more than just a human. the moon Goddess made her just for him. they were the perfect match drawing strength to survive from each other. their love enduring all the obstacles and still moving forward. this was worth fighting for and she would do it with every fiber of her soul.
