Chapter 39: Party Part 1

It's been years and although I had made a great life here, I missed Oceania, I think back about making bad decisions and realize I would have done it anyway. I deserved to be King, my nephew was King and I hated it, I wanted to kill King Squashi so I could be King of Oceania and I was researching ways I could remove him legally from the throne. Once I succeed, I can take over Tiberius's Kingdom merging it into one. I watched my wife play with our kids in the pool, we have four kids now and it was amazing, I love her and she loved me. I got a notification about an upcoming birthday party for King Aidan and a lot of elites were invited, I wanted to get my hand on the guest list to see who was coming and working so I could get any recent information that I could use to take King Squashi out.

I called the station where I was stationed and asked for a favor in getting the list and I waited, I was working as a forensic specialist in the coroner's lab in Aidain's territory but near the edge of the border in a small town. We had settled in here quite well with new faces and identities, we had respectable friends and our kids went to the little school in town. My wife was a stay-at-home mom and all my men who were loyal to me lived around town and some even started families and small businesses. I got the file in my email and went to the home office to open it on my laptop. I looked at the names and saw Kendrick Squashi on the guest list and smiled. There was also Tibberius Dubious-Philmont along with his wife and mate Vasa and a few others like his second-in-command, Lax, and decided I needed an invite, a way in to investigate.

It's been a few weeks and the party was later this afternoon so I got in my vehicle, picked up one of my men, and headed to the heart of the city where the party was being held, at least it was where they would be no magic where my identity would be revealed. We had press passes that we cooked up from the local newspaper and a favor from a friend and headed out. My wife was going to be home with our kids as she should be, she just wanted some good news and went to bed early. My teenage son was going out with some friends and he would be back home before late, I trusted the lad and we were off, we approached the city half an hour later and I hadn't been here in a long time because I was a fugitive and it was better to live in smaller towns.

We had to park two blocks away as it was busy and police directed traffic away from the festivities, the city had large parades and celebrated the whole day as it was the Supreme King's Birthday, parts of it were live on TV and we watched the species all mixing and having fun. A few of the people were from Oceania and I hated not being included and was a fugitive but I will regain power soon, Aidan will have to abide by our ancient law if I take Squashi out, and he will have no choice but to let me rule with a clean slate. It has always been that way and he was a fair King, never going back on his word, so this would work, we approached the venue, showed our passes, and were led to a big door that was for all working people at the extravaganza.

I watched as all the elite started strolling in before the King arrived, Tommen was head of his security if I am correct and I saw his children walk in including King Kyan his oldest. I felt power but it was not the King, I saw Toffe with his daughter and some other guy, maybe his daughter's mate but if I looked closely, it seemed to be a son but I had never seen him before, Toffe had triplets and I smiled saying, "Another son, interesting." Toffe went to mingle and I went over to play the press part by going over to the young man by the bar to ask a few questions. The young man was getting a scotch and I said, "Great choice," he looked at me, looked at my press pass, and said, "You want to know who I am," and I smiled saying, "In a nutshell, I don't mind getting the scoop."

He looked at me and said, "If you are good at your job, you will figure it out," and told the bartender, "It's on me paying for my drink. I watched him walk off and I see the bartender saying, "Damn, hot as f**k," I asked, "Do you know who that guy was?" He leaned over and said, "Rumor has it, he is Prince Toffe's older son from his first mate that he never knew about." I was shocked and said, "Didn't his mate die?" He said, "Not Princess Issy, another mate who they are keeping secret, no one knows who she is, and anything on his son is sealed to keep their privacy." I thanked him and smiled because maybe I could use this information to my advantage and find who this other mate was, if she was not wearing his mark, she could be killed.

I walked into the event with my father and my sister, my brothers were behind us but stopped just outside the door to talk to some friends. Baye was escorted here with her guard and was waiting on me, I knew she was still scared to be by herself so I moved into the house with her for a while. We stayed in separate rooms but she found herself in my room on many occasions cuddled up next to me and I wonder if it was because of the bond. Malia wasn't too happy but she understood that I just wanted to help a friend, I hadn't told her Baye was my mate yet because I was torn. I don't think I want Baye but the more time we spend together, I am beginning to fall in love with her. Baye came in the back as she didn't want to be in the spotlight on the red carpet, no one but my family knew she was my mate. I went over to the bar and I was getting a scotch and a glass of wine for my mate and I smiled because I called her my mate.

I felt a presence next to me and I looked at him, he was the press and wanted to know who I was, Ryot told me, "Keep it simple," because our family had a lot of enemies being in the total power of Ravena and, the press print whatever would sell anyway. After our brief encounter, I went to look for Baye and she was sitting by herself looking for me, she smiled when he saw me. I scented my mother as she walked in with my stepfather and Toffe walked towards me and asked, "Are you guys comfortable?" Before my brothers ran over and said, "Dad, can we at least have the penthouse tonight," looking at two hot girls, and my dad said, "Mates?" They said, "No," before our dad magically handed both of them boxes of condoms and I snickered before they ran off. The music stopped as we felt the power and stand, Aidan had arrived, and my father went to join them standing behind Aidan joining my uncles Drax and Ty.

I held Baye's hand and the bond felt amazing, the tingles and her warmth, she linked me and said, "Thanks for bringing me with you," and I said, "No worries, it's better than being coup up home." Baye had security 24/7 since the incident and we were looking to sell the house, she didn't want to be there anymore and her father had moved completely to Elvira after meeting his mate who was an elf. I had asked my dad to let us rent one of his apartments and he said, "Rent," smiling and I was supposed to get the paperwork signed later. I had started interning at my father's company so I would be able to make rent with Baye, I just needed to end things with Malia before it gets messy. Looking at my beautiful mate as she smiles at me, I think I will end things with Malia sooner rather than later because I may mark her as soon as she is ready, she still has fears of being intimate and I understand.

King Aidan made his speech and kissed both his mates who gave him very special speeches of love and gratitude, I always wonder how my uncles do it with their mates and Ryot said, "We have two also," and I was shocked but not surprised, I think I had read that somewhere, that the Supreme Line will have two mates and my dad did mention it a while back if I am not mistaken. It just never occurred to me that I was included in that, I just wish that it was Malia, it would make it so much easier and I wouldn't have to break it off with her. I saw a lot of strange faces that were in my father's circle and I saw Tiberius, he was King now and I recognized him from school, he was also my cousin and it still is fascinating to see him when he turned into a siren.

I saw Malia she walked in with her father and brothers, I swallowed as she looked around for me before setting her eyes on me. I let go of Baye's hand as a reflex and it hurt her feelings, she backed away and I felt her sadness. I said, "Wait, Baye," before she ran off heading to the door before being stopped by Mace, Malia jumped on me planting a kiss on my lips and Baye's heart broke before she changed into her wolf running back towards us, I was in shock and admit my reflexes were slow in this situation and I watched as Baye attacked Malia stopping everyone in their tracks.
