CHAPTER SEVEN Mark followed Bryan into the kitchen, his head still reeling from the cacophony of greetings that had erupted from everywhere when the three of them got into the house. He didn’t even have the time to look around and gauge the premises, which still goaded at him. Once they left their outdoor coats and boots in the hall, they had crossed to the living room, which abounded with feminine voices. A few cries stopped the conversation when Lily appeared in the door, and a flurry of women flew to her, all of them talking at the same time. Mark grimaced at the ring in his ears, unaccustomed with such outbursts. He glanced fugitively at Bryan to see how he reacted at those high-pitched sounds, and to his surprise, he noticed a joyful grin tucked at the corner of the man’s mouth. H
