Cody’s POV Waking up, my mind was a whirlwind of thoughts about my father's message and the urgency it carried. I needed to act fast. As I sat up in bed, the sight of my mom sitting quietly on the couch in my room made my heart leap into my throat. The morning light cast a soft glow around her, but her presence was startling. “Mom, what are you doing here?” I asked, my voice tinged with alarm.
