The beating of my heart heaves through the brown camisole I'm changed into, staring at Romeo who stands in front of me.
"What is that supposed to mean?" I facade any sign of fear present in my appearance, while I stand still where I am.
"Well let's just say Aurora Fisher did not come up before recently." Romeo adds taking steps closer to me.
"And that's because Aurora Fisher doesn't like to be found. She finds people on her when she's ready." I reply trying to have the conversation in control.
"I can see that." Romeo stays an inch away from me as he towers over my 5'8. "Because she may just take over the drug cartel with her covert affairs." Romeo speaks sending two meanings down his words.
"It seems you do not trust me Romeo," My expression on him sifting as I stare at him with furrowed eyebrows trying to look calm.
"And I don't think I should, pending that I haven't really heard of you till you popped out yesterday." Romeo tells me as his pink lips curve in a mischievous smile.
"Do you think I had anything to do with the shooting yesterday? Is that why you suddenly think I'm a fake?" I ask him letting out a menacing chuckle. "Let me guess you put two and two together, and you concluded I know about your covert affairs you operated on right before you came here, and I sent those guys after you?" I ask him.
"You tell me Aurora." Romeo speaks looking straight in my eyes as I also don't back down from his stare.
"Let me tell you something Romeo king." And this time my tone changes to being stern. "If I wanted you dead or your sister, you'll be dead I tell you. I do not attempt and fail, and hell would I go through the trouble of having myself shot in the process and still taking care of you sister.
I don't care about your business and neither should you do mine, because we both know our skeletons are not to be found, so if you begin prying in mine, I promise you Romeo, you won't like what you find." My gaze on him hot as Romeo watch my swift in expression, clearly taken back.
"One thing I'll tell you, I am not a fake, go ahead and look into that carefully, you'll find out that Aurora Fisher has been operating since you went out of town and if that doesn't please you, my men would arrange 10million worth of nicotine to you as a gift of partnership, which I wish to discuss with your you and your sister." I finally end, having Romeo let out a light chuckle.
"I see you don't like being confronted." Romeo says with a smile.
"No I don't like being pressurized and threatened." I inform him.
I don't know what Romeo may have heard when I was in a conversation with Holloway, and it may be he didn't hear anything, and just want to try to his luck if he'll find something, even still I have to remain the facade and not blow up my cover.
He may still suspect me, but that's my ticket to gaining his trust.
Just watch Romeo king, I'll get you between my fingers.
If I don't die first.
"It seems my sister won't be leaving just yet, and you'll get to keep seeing me." Romeo changes the topic with a smirk making me understand I've won the conversation, and he may have been only pulling my legs.
For now that is.
"And you'll get to see mine." I say with a sly look. "Feel free to come anytime, my door is widely open." I invite him but to Romeo, I sense it may be more than just a house invite.
"Careful with your words now Aurora, you don't want to stir something you can't turn." Even though my name isn't aurora, the way that name drops out of Romeo's lips is something stirring.
"Who says I wouldn't be able to stir it?" I ask him taking the last inch that distance us.
We both stay silent, as Romeo holds a smirk with our dirty talk. "How's your shoulder by the way? I'm guessing I haven't properly shown my concern after helping my sister and I." He changes the topic but his eyes doesn't falter, as when he glances at my shoulder which has a bandage on it, he drifts to my exposed cleavage.
"That you haven't, rather you harassed me of being fake." I insist on the past topic.
"Well you can't expect me to trust easily, can you?" He asks me, but instead of replying, I smile before taking my eyes away from him and walking away.
"I've been through worse, so no need for the concern." My demeanor which was once to flirt changes, as I become professional. "Skylar and I would be stepping out, so make yourself comfortable." I change the topic.
One lesson I have learned about men, in order to win them is, never make yourself constantly available. They want a woman with ambition and not Just any woman who is gonna seat when they tell them to.
"Who is Skylar?" At Romeo's question I turn my head to him.
"My bodyguard of course." I remind him while he only nods.
"I also have some business to attend to, some of my men would be here to keep watch over felicity while I'm away." Romeo tells me.
"Whatever pleases you Romeo, I have no intention of hurting Felicity just so you know." I repeat my earlier statement.
"It's not you I'm worried about, it's her husband." Romeo tells me and I give him a perplexed look.
"Nathaniel? Does he intend to cause her harm?" I ask clearly interested to know.
"That I did not say. Let's just say it's a thing between in-laws." Romeo adds.
"I see." I nod gently.
"Thank you for your hospitality, Aurora." Romeo speaks as for the first time his words feel genuine.
"You're welcome."
---------------
If everyone knew the length of what they were getting into before they actually get into something, I believe a lot of people wouldn't do what they do now, yet we find ourselves doing what we have to.
I became a detective seven years ago, and before that time I worked as a junior staff at the police department.
My point is, if I had been told my operations of going undercover, would lead me to having drugs under my watch freely or having to protect certain drug lords, I probably would have admonished such thought.
Atimes we are placed in situations which do not favour us, but when it is your job and you swore an oath to protect lives and humanity, I don't think there is anything greater than that.
"I know what that case meant to you Laura, trust me." John speaks as he drives down to drop me in my apartment after the briefing Jen and I went to.
A briefing that ended up with me stepping down a case of a ruthless killer known as, The doctor. A killer that almost took my life by removing the organs of his victims and keeping it for show or if interested, selling them.
"No you don't john, so let's not even go there." I glance at John swiftly before looking back on the road.
"Now you don't want to talk about it." John scoffs lightly clearly frustrated at my reply.
"Exactly." Are the only words that leave my lips.
"You can't keep burdening yourself about these things, you need to let it go Laura, you need to stop feeling guilty about something that wasn't your fault."
"Because you were not the one who sat and watched three little girls not up to the age of twenty, get open up in front of you while you laid there helpless. You were not the one!" My voice beginning to raise while I stare at John.
"That is why you need to talk about it." John replies like a matter of fact whole I scoff.
"What? With you?" I ask in disbelief.
"Yes with me if you can!" Now John's voice rises.
"Don't get ahead of yourself John, you know clearly that what we have is nothing but physical... "
"And that doesn't stop anyone of us from showing care when the other may need. It's called being human and and not a monster, even if we are doing what we're doing." John cuts me off as he takes me off guard.
"Showing care huh?" I chuckle fakely. "Then if you must know, I don't need it." I tell him to his face whereas John only tightens his grip on the steering wheel.
"Letting your guard down Laura, doesn't make you weak, I want you to remember that. " John adds but this time I don't reply him.
We get to my original apartment, as I figured I would need some things before going back to being Aurora Fisher, and unlike Jen whom we were supposed to come together, said something urgent came up which she needed attend to.
"Would you like to come up while I get it?" I ask John staring into his light brown orbs. He doesn't say a word but responds by getting down of the car.
I open the door to my apartment, seeing the familiar objects and warmth of the place. "I'll be right back. " I tell john before walking away from him to my bedroom to pick a few things.
As I pick my underwears, I notice a familiar body walk in the room after me. "What? Can't stay alone?" I ask john with a smirk on my lips before picking the final undergarment.
"Even with your smart mouth, it still gets me turned on." Are John's only words before moving closer to me and smacking his lips to mine.
The feeling of his lips on mine, as he sucks on my lips and shoving his tongue into my mouth, speeds things up, as I begin undoing his buttons.
It doesn't take much time before all our clothes are down to ground, and John has his lips on my feminine chest and his hands gripping my bare behind.
With his hands around my behind, he raises me, so I'm now straddling his waist and I feel the hardening of his male part.
It doesn't take long for us to be interrupted by my phone ringing as I try to avert John's kisses, whereby he seems extremely in the mood to grant my request.
"Wait... Wait... Let me... Pick that." I speak inbetween where his mouth his, breathing heavily before he backs away and I pick up the phone.
"Hello?" I speak seeing it is Jen calling. "Jen?" I call her name when I don't get a response from her and all I get is muffled sounds.
"I need your help Laura, I think I'm in deep trouble." And Jen's words alone are enough to diverge any sort of arousal in me.
