Chapter 7: Trouble In Paradise

1258 Words
❤ Jessica’s POV ❤ I headed to the floor that I was assigned to and started cleaning the rooms one by one. Before I did, I made sure to place Ashley’s ice tea order. Afterward, I focused on cleaning. I didn’t want to be distracted by something as trivial as someone from my past coming back to haunt me. After I finished a room, I got a radio call telling me to head to the penthouse suite. I left the cart and headed to the elevators. I was both anxious and nervous. I didn’t know what Ashley wanted and why I was being asked to go to the penthouse suite. When I got there, I rang the bell. When I heard Ashley’s shrill voice saying, “Come in,” I opened the door and went inside. Ashley still sounds like a teenager, even if we’re now in our mid-20’s. I saw Ashley coming out of the bedroom wearing a very sexy two-piece bikini. I must say that she looks really good, but her bo*bs and ass look too good that I suspect she might have some work done on them too. She smiled when she looked at me and said, “Oh, hey Jessica. Can you clean up the couch? I spilled some ice tea on them. Thanks!” She then walked towards the jacuzzi. I’m sure the bikini she’s wearing is branded and expensive too. I headed to the living area and looked at the couch. It doesn’t look like the ice tea spilled accidentally. It seems like it was spilled deliberately on the entire couch. Some of it even got on the carpet. Unfortunately, the couch is made of fabric material, so it would be quite hard to clean it up. I headed back downstairs to get my cart. I went back inside the penthouse with the cleaning materials that I needed for the couch. I had to radio Nerissa to ask how I could clean it, but she said that the best I could do was to clean it up with some soap and dry it up with a blower. Since it was the penthouse suite, the couch will have to be replaced while it gets sent for deep cleaning. I was halfway through cleaning the couch when the door to the penthouse suite opened. I immediately stood up and bowed my head when I saw that it was the boss. Boss: “What are you doing here?” Jessica: “I’m sorry, sir, I was just cleaning the couch, Ash– I mean Miss Montaniel asked me to clean it up.” Boss: “Ashley’s here?” Jessica: “Uhm, yes, sir. She’s in the jacuzzi.” The boss didn’t respond to it and just said, “Finish what you’re doing and get out of here.” Jessica: “O-okay, sir.” The boss left to probably see Ashley. He must be excited to see her and couldn’t wait to do whatever he wanted to do to her. I felt myself blush at the thought of what that might be. I moved as fast as I could, but before I could finish, I heard the boss and Ashley arguing. I couldn’t really make out what they were arguing about, but I didn’t stay to find out. I took all my cleaning stuff and ran out of the room as fast as I could. I don’t even care how I did with the couch. It will be replaced anyway. I resumed cleaning my floor, but I was distracted the entire time. I kept wondering what the boss and Ashley were arguing about. I wasn’t expecting and was actually expecting them to do the opposite of arguing. I took a lunch break a few minutes after noon and found Nerissa, Melissa, and the rest of the girls at the table. I joined them and started eating. Melanie: “So, how’s life at the penthouse suite?” Jessica: “Uhm, same old.” Melanie: “Did you see the boss in the suite?” Jessica: “I did. His girlfriend also came.” Melanie: “What? What does she look like? What is she like? Is she pretty?” I took my time chewing, and when I was done, I said, “She’s very pretty.” They waited for me to tell them more, but I resumed eating. Melanie: “Anything else?” Jessica: “She’s quite sexy.” Melanie: “What is she like? Is she nice?” I let out I let a breath and said, “Her name is Ashley. I actually knew her from high school.” Melanie: “Really? Let me guess, she was the campus queen, wasn’t she?” Jessica: “Uhm, not really. She dropped out halfway through our senior year.” Melanie: “Really? Why did she drop out?” I just shrugged my shoulders. I didn’t want them to know that I was the reason why Ashley dropped out of school. I also didn’t want them to know what a terrible friend I was to her. I might even be the reason why she started getting surgery on her face and body. I remember how she confessed to being insecure about how she looked. I ended up ridiculing her nose, her lips, and even her eyes. When she ended up getting a nose job, I made fun of her and even insulted her by saying that she looked worse with her new nose. I made a lot of mistakes when I was I was younger, and being a mean friend is one of them. If I could go back in time, I would definitely be a better friend. If I see Ashley again, I should probably apologize to her. It would be the right thing to do. Melanie kept asking questions about Ashley, but I had nothing more to tell her. The truth is, I was so focused on myself in high school that I didn’t really know that much about the friends I had. Nerissa came with me to the admin office to fill out the request for the couch replacement.  Before we got back to work, Nerissa asked, “Are you okay?” Jessica: “Yeah, why do you ask?” Nerissa: “I don’t know. You seem distracted.” Jessica: “I don’t know. I guess I was just thrown off when I saw my former friend and classmate. To top it off, I am now working as the housekeeper to the suite she’s staying in.” Nerissa: “I get that. Eventually, you’ll get used to it. It’s an honest day’s job.” Jessica: “Yeah, I’m not ashamed of what I do or anything like that. I don’t mind her seeing me working as a housekeeper.” Nerissa: “Then what is it?” Jessica: “I’m ashamed to admit it, but I wasn’t nice to Ashley in high school. I regretted being awful to her, and I wasn’t the same person that I was seven years ago.” Nerissa: “Well. we all have a past and things we regret doing.” Jessica: “I want to apologize for being awful to her in the past. I hope she can forgive me.” Nerissa: “Well, you can. Everyone deserves a second chance. I’m sure she’ll see how sorry you are.” Jessica: “Thanks, Nerissa.” I headed back upstairs to resume working. My heart is lighter. I decided to apologize to her tomorrow when I cleaned the penthouse suite again.
