Chapter 8: Failed Apology

1609 Words
❤ Jessica’s POV ❤ THE next day, I headed to the penthouse first thing after I loaded up my cleaning supply cart. I was so excited and even came up with an apology speech for Ashley. When I got to the penthouse suite, I called out, “Hello?” There was no answer, so I decided to go inside until I got to the bedroom. When I opened the door, I gasped as I saw Ashley naked riding on top of who I assume is the boss. In my hurry to leave, I slipped and almost fell on the floor. When Ashley saw me, she screamed, “Get out!” I got out of the penthouse suite and ran towards the elevator. Thankfully, I left my cart outside the suite, so I was able to pull it fast. I prayed for the elevator to come quickly, and when it did, I said, “Oh, thank God,” before getting in. I went to the floor where I was assigned to work and started cleaning. My heart was beating so fast, and I am thankful that there was no guest in the first room that I was cleaning. Although I’m a mom, I have no recollection of how I got pregnant, and I don’t really know how to be intimate with someone. I know how babies are made and how s*x works, but I have yet to experience it myself. Seeing Ashley and the boss in action made me so nervous and embarrassed. When I got to the bathroom, I washed my face. I was so red, and my body felt really hot. I got out after wiping my face dry and finished cleaning before heading to the next room to clean. Before I got to the next room, I got a call on the radio telling me to go to the penthouse suite. It was Elaine, and she sounded furious. She kept asking what I did. I said, “I didn’t do anything,” and she told me to hurry up before Miss Montaniel got madder. I pulled my cart and headed up to the penthouse suite as soon as possible. I was tapping my foot because I was so nervous about what Ashley would say. Would she get mad at me? Would she have the boss fire me? She is her girlfriend, so I’m sure she could have me fired if she wanted to. I rang the bell of the suite, and when no one answered, I used my key to open it and went inside. As I did, Ashley came rushing into me and started pulling my hair and slapping my face. I could feel her long nails scratching me. All I could do was cover my face and say, “Ashley, stop. I’m sorry, I didn’t hear anything, and I was just coming in to clean the bedroom. I swear I didn’t see anything. I’m so sorry.” The boss stopped Ashley from attacking me and held Ashley from the back. Ashley: “How dare you call me by my first name! You’re just a maid, and you don’t deserve to call me that!” Jessica: “I-I’m sorry, Miss Montaniel. I didn’t mean to call you by your first name.” I don’t really think I did anything wrong since seeing them was an accident. They should have locked their door if they didn’t want anyone to see them. They know that I always come in every day in the morning to clean the suite. Those who didn’t want to be disturbed actually put a ‘do not disturb’ sign on their doors if they didn’t want the housekeeper to come into their rooms to clean. Those are the ones that would ask to have their rooms cleaned at a later time. I still had my hands covering my face and wasn’t looking at Ashley when I heard her scream, “Baby, I want you to fire her now.” When I heard that, I kneeled and said, “Please, Miss Montaniel, don’t fire me. Sir, please don’t fire me. I have a son. I really need this job.” I heard the boss trying to calm Ashley down. She doesn’t seem to want to listen, though, and she was able to break free, and I felt her foot kicking me multiple times on the face. I was kneeling in front of them, so it was pretty easy for her to do. I tried to get up until I felt a hard kick. I tumbled over, and my head hit the ground. I could still hear Ashley screaming as I blacked out and lost consciousness. I woke up feeling dizzy, and the first thing I saw was white all around. It took me a few minutes to realize that I was in the hospital. The first thing that came to mind was Jericho, and I immediately sat up. My head hurt when I did, and I touched the back of it where I felt a bandage. I heard Nerissa’s voice saying, “Jessica? Are you all right?” I looked at her and had to blink my eyes multiple times to see Nerissa’s face clearly. Jessica: “Yeah, I’m okay. What time is it?” Nerissa: “It’s 8 pm. Lay back down. We’re waiting for the results of the CT-Scan. The doctor said that you might have a concussion.” Jessica: “No, I have to go. My son, I have to come home to my son.” I had to lay back down for a moment. I sat back up, slowly this time, and said, “I’m okay. See, I can get up on my own.” Nerissa: “No, we have to wait for the doctor. The boss told me to stay with you until you, the doctor comes back.” I sat still for a moment and tried to regain my strength. I was about to get off the bed when the doctor arrived and said, “Jessica Villadolid?” Jessica: “Doctor? Can I go home? My son, I have to pick him up.” Doctor: “Well, it doesn’t look like you have a concussion, but I’d like to keep you here overnight for observation.” Jessica: “But I don’t have a concussion, right? I’ll sign whatever papers I need to sign. You can discharge me.” The doctor looked at Nerissa, who shrugged her shoulders. The doctor then looked back at me and said, “Okay. I’ll have your discharge papers taken care of.” Jessica: “Uhm, doctor. How much do I have to pay? I don’t have that much money.” Doctor: “It’s okay, Ms. Valladolid. Mr. Santillan will take care of the bills.” Jessica: “Oh, okay. Thank you, doctor.” The doctor smiled, and as soon as she was gone, Nerissa said, “Wow, can you believe it? The boss took care of your bill.” Jessica: “Uhm, yeah. Do you know why I’m at the hospital?” Nerissa: “No, I don’t. All I know is that the boss called for an ambulance and had you sent to the hospital.” Jessica: ”Why are you here?” Nerissa: “The boss asked one of the maids to go with you to the hospital, and I volunteered. Melanie wanted to go too, but she panicked so much when she saw you unconscious.” Jessica: “Thank you for coming with me. I hope Elaine didn’t get mad because of all the disruption.” Nerissa: “Actually, she was mad, but she couldn’t say anything because the boss was there. He looked so worried about you. I must say, he’s really good-looking, especially up close.” A nurse arrived not long after and handed me the discharge papers. I signed what I needed to sign, and I got on a wheelchair which they pushed out of the emergency room. Thankfully, Nerissa got my things from my locker, and she handed me my bag as I got wheeled out. When we got to the exit, a man in a blue uniform approached us and said, “Ms. Villadolid, Mr. Santillan told me to drive you home.” Jessica: “What? No, it’s okay. You don’t have to.” Man In Uniform: “Yes, I do, miss. I might lose my job if I don’t.” Nerissa and I looked at each other and eventually got in the black car parked near the emergency room exit. The driver dropped Nerissa first before driving me to my house. The driver seemed to know where I lived and didn’t even ask for directions. Before I got out of the car, I thanked the driver profusely, and I walked as fast as I could to Leticia’s house. I knocked, but there didn’t seem to be anyone in the house. I got nervous and immediately made my way to our apartment. My heart broke when I saw my son sitting in front of our door. He’s leaning on the wall and looks to be asleep. I walked towards my son and nudged him awake. Jessica: “Baby, wake up. What are you doing there? Where’s Leticia?” Jericho: “They left. There wasn't anyone there when I got home from school.” Jessica: “Have you been there the entire time?” My son nodded, and I pulled him for a hug as I said, “I’m so sorry, baby. I’m sorry I took so long to get home.” I carried my son inside the house. My head was still hurting, but I didn’t care.
