My heart swells with emotion as I watch the handsome man tightly holding hands with Leah, as if they are bidding each other a heart-breaking farewell. He might be Leah's husband. I know that Leah is not in good condition, but she has shown remarkable strength to endure thus far. Perhaps it is because she is a werewolf, a Luna with extraordinary power beyond that of an ordinary human.
"Please, Leah, don't leave me. I need you," he pleads with a voice filled with desperation. Leah gently shakes her head, her eyes
reflecting both sorrow and determination.
"Forgive me, Lucas. I can't bear this pain any longer. It's too much... please forgive me and take good care of our baby." With those words, Leah slowly closes her eyes.
"Leah!!!" he roars, his anger blending with a deep sense of despair. "Who did this to you? Tell me, and I will never forgive
them. Was it her?" He points accusingly at me before continuing his words. "Did she hurt you instead of helping? Or is it because she's a new doctor without experience and made a fatal mistake, carelessly letting you slip away?" "His words are filled with
venom, driven by his negative thoughts.
I can't believe it. How can he accuse me of malpractice, questioning everything I have done to ensure a safe delivery of their child?
Despite my status as a new doctor, I graduated c*m laude, for heaven's sake. Anger seethes within me, mingled with disappointment. The sympathy I once held for this man vanishes in an instant, replaced by the realization that his attractiveness and how much he loves his wife are pointless if his mind is so narrow-minded. He shouldn't have blamed me and accused me of malpractice.
I hold onto my anger as I walk towards Leah, my heart pounding with fear, hoping she is still alive. But before I can even reach out to her, Leah transforms into a majestic wolf, and a scream escapes from my lips.
"Not again, Leah. You scared me to death."
Leah's husband, who has accused me, stands there as a broken figure, appearing very wounded, realizing that his wife is gone, leaving him forever. He lets out a loud, sad roar, his voice echoing through the cave. He is so hurt and devastated and once again my frustration towards him for accusing me of malpractice fades away, and I feel pity for him for losing his love and his one
and only mate.
He sobs uncontrollably beside Leah's lifeless form, tears streaming down his handsome face. Next to Leah, their baby boy also cries, his tiny voice filled with sorrow and confusion. But his daddy doesn't even glance at him. I carefully lift the baby into my arms, gently rocking him back and speaking softly to the handsome little Adam.
"You're such a pitiful little soul, little Adam. You've barely entered this world, and already you've been left by your mother. It
breaks my heart to see you like this."
Suddenly, a pack of shirtless, drop-dead gorgeous men strut into the cave, their chiseled bodies and perfect smiles reminiscent of GQ cover male models. They all humbly bow in reverence to Leah's lifeless form, while I stand there, mouth agape, enjoying the unexpected eye candy. My cheeks flush with a mix of astonishment and... a hint of something else. Oh boy, it seems my libido
is reminding me just how long it has been since I last had some fun with boys who look like them.
One of the tallest men steps forward, his gaze filled with determination as he approaches Leah's husband, who is still grieving over the loss of his wife.
"Alpha Lucas, it's time we bring Luna Leah's body back to the pack for a proper burial," he says firmly, his voice filled with empathy. "We can't delay any longer. It breaks my heart to see your child in this situation. Luna Leah fulfilled her duties as a Luna with utmost dedication, and her untimely departure has left a void in all our hearts. But now, we must focus on the task at hand. We need to investigate and find out who caused Luna Leah to suffer like this. Justice must be served for her and for our pack."
The tall, handsome man has my heart doing a little happy dance. He is like the epitome of coolness, with a brain that can outsmart anyone and a calmness that can rival a zen master. And then there's Leah's husband, named Lucas, oh Lucas, accusing me of malpractice like a grumpy bear with a bee sting. But hey, maybe it's just his super-sized sadness talking, searching for someone to blame like a lost puppy. My inner voice attempts to empathize with the weight of his grief.
"Okay, Beta Jenson. Let's go back and bring that doctor with us. I need to interrogate her further to find out what really happened. I
don't trust her," Lucas says with a weak voice, filled with sorrow.
Beta Jenson nods his head and turns to me, still cradling the baby boy belonging to Leah and Lucas. I have no intention of following them; I am not their prisoner. I refuse to be treated as a captive to be interrogated. I need to report back to the hospital where I am assigned. My duty of helping living beings is already fulfilled. I have no further business
with them, no matter how handsome they might be. I have no desire to follow them and be interrogated as if I were a criminal.
"Miss..." he starts, his voice filled with urgency.
"Call me Doctor. I am not your teacher," I interrupt.
"Doctor," he quickly corrects himself, sensing my annoyance.
"I need you to come with us," he pleads.
"I don't want to. I don't want to go with you," I retort. "I already helped Leah, but I can't bear the fact that your Alpha accused me of harming her. Does he even know the struggles I went through whenLeah was transforming into a wolf and I was dragging her out of the forest to ensure a safe delivery of her baby? Does your Alpha know how Leah pleaded with me to save Adam's life? That's where it ends. You can go back to your pack, and I'll return to the hospital where I'm assigned," I spit out, raising my voice in hopes that Alpha Lucas can hear me
.
"Doctor, please don't say things like that. I hope you understand that Alpha Lucas is still very sad for his loss," Beta Jenson
pleads, his voice filled with genuine yearning for understanding.
"Moreover, you cannot go to the hospital you mentioned because it is located within our enemy's territory. It's far too dangerous."
I take a moment to absorb his words, the weight of the situation sinking in. He continues, "You have already been exposed to our pack's scent by spending time with our late Luna Leah. So you will be safe if you go with us to our territory. I humbly request your assistance in taking care of this little baby , as all of us here are men and lack the necessary skills for tending to his needs."
I can't help but giggle at the thought of being "marked" by their enchanting pack scent. I playfully raise an eyebrow and say, "Oh dear, I guess I've been initiated into the wolf club without even realizing it! There's no escaping now!" I glance at Beta Jenson,
wearing a mischievous smile. "Alright, alright, I'll lend a helping hand and take care of little Adam. But here's the deal, Beta Jenson,"
I say, wagging a playful finger, "you need to relay a message to your Alpha for me. Let him know that I'm not some criminal to be interrogated. No handcuffs, no bright interrogation room. Just a friendly chat over a cup of coffee, okay?"
I can't contain my laughter as I continue, "And to put any lingering doubts to rest, I promise I won't unleash any secret werewolf hunting skills on you. No silver bullets, no holy water. Just a story from the beginning, the tale of how I met Leah and the journey we shared. If your pack wants revenge, they can find it in the twists and turns of my doctor's diary."
Beta Jenson chuckles, his tense expression relaxing. "Deal," he says, extending a hand toward me. "No handcuffs, no interrogations.
Just a friendly chat and a chance to understand the truth. Let's put an end to the misunderstandings and work together for this baby's sake."
We shake hands, sealing our agreement with a shared moment of lightheartedness. Little do we know that this unexpected alliance will not only bring laughter and understanding but also shape the future of the Blue Sapphire Pack in ways we could never have imagined.
