Chapter3

XANDER’S POV “What do you mean human?” I growled. “But she doesn't smell like a human,” Sly said. “Yes, that's the confusing part, but everything else checks. She can't heal herself and doesn't even know anything about our kind or what mates are.” Our pack nurse said. “But how possible is that? I have heard of human mates, but I have never heard of a human mated to an alpha, and even if that were to be the case, why doesn't she smell like one?.” I was about to lose my mind when my mom walked in. “That's enough, Xander! Where are your manners? You are disturbing the sick girl, can't you see?” she admonished. She went over to our mate and spoke calmly, “Hey dear, pardon my sons for their rude manners.” I growled at being called rude, and my mom gave me the ‘I will kick your ass’ look. I knew better than to misbehave again. She turned back to her. “As I was saying,” she continued, “we brought you here after we found you in the forest where you were injured. Once you recover and feel better, we can take you back to your parents. Sly growled loudly and interrupted our mom as soon as she talked about taking her back to her parents. He was the calm one, but our mate leaving must have struck a cord in him. Our mom turned and gave him a stern look. “I am sorry, mom." He immediately apologized. “If I hear one more sound from any of you...” she threatened. “Well, rest up there and do not worry too much. I will make sure to let your parents know that you are safe.” Her words must have made our mate happy because she immediately smiled. “Thank you, ma'am,” she greeted. This is why I loved my mom, the Luna. She knew how to handle things like that. She stayed strong for the pack and us even after she lost her mate. Many times, when a werewolf loses its mate, they go crazy from the pain of the loss. But the Luna stayed strong and held our pack together. She was and is still a great mother and an even better Luna. “Now! Everyone out. The beautiful girl needs to get her rest.” We all walked out. “You both follow me,” she ordered, and we obediently followed without arguing. No one else would dare to order us around like this, but Luna, our mother, does it without batting an eye. “I taught you boys better. How could you act that way in front of her, especially after you found out she didn't know about our kind? I am disappointed. I didn't work this hard to strengthen you boys out for you both to act like this. Now! I expect you both to be on your best behavior. If you wish to keep her here, you will do your best to ensure that she stays willingly. Anything outside of that will not be tolerated. If she wishes to go home, you will both take her home, and if you still wish to pursue a relationship with her, you will do it the human way and gradually get her to understand about our kind. All in all, what I am saying is that you will not keep her here against her wishes, and you shall treat her with care. Do you understand? She asked "Yes, mom,” Sly and I answered. Sly and I left the office and went to the field. “How did we get a human mate? Getting her to accept us is going to be really hard, especially for me. I don't even know the first thing about wooing a girl,” I lamented. “You say it like I ever wooed any girl either. We both agreed to wait till we met our mate; that seems like a stupid decision now. Who knew she would get a human mate?” I could hear the tension behind his voice. “You have a better chance. At least you are level-headed and know how to treat people nicely. Everyone complains about how I am tough to deal with and unable to show my feelings.” “You will have to learn. I also need to learn. We have to do well, or we could lose her. Our best option right now is Lexi. We had to bribe her and get her to give us some tips.” Sly had a point; Lexi was really the only option. "That's true, by the way. We need to pick out the warriors that will be leaving for the training camp by tomorrow. After that, we can work on how to get our mate to love us.” I said, and Sly agreed. I mindlinked Tom, “gather all our warriors on the training ground immediately.” “Yes Alpha.” “Let's go to the training ground.” I said to Sly, and we both walked down. On getting there, everyone was already gathered there and waiting. "Alpha,” they all chorused, bowing their heads in respect. “You are all aware of the recent rogue attacks on different packs, which have resulted in a lot of casualties for different packs. Because of this, we went for a meeting with other Alphas to devise a plan to curb these attacks.” Sly’s deep, gruff voice resonated in the arena. “It was decided in the meeting that 20wolves from each back would go to the Crimson pack for training to enhance effective security in all packs. On that note, we need volunteers who are willing to go to the Crimson Pack. If you are willing, please step over to the other side.” Immediately after he finished talking, the warriors began to move to the other side, indicating their willingness to represent the pack. Including our sister, Lexi. Everyone knew how tough she was. She is one of our best warriors and cares a lot about pack safety. It made a lot of sense that she wanted to go, but we had other plans for her. I knew she would get angry by the next thing, Sly, but at this point we didn't have much of an option. "Lexi, please step aside; you are needed here in the pack.” I could tell from her face that she was pissed but didn't say anything because she didn't want to disrespect us in front of the pack. The three of us never laid down any rules, but we silently knew when to allow the other person to take over. Between I and Sly, he was the outspoken one, so he always took care of gatherings like this, and I was the meticulous one, so I took care of park treaties, agreements, businesses, and other related stuff. For war strategies, it was always better when we both planned together along with my sister. For my sister, she may be younger, but she was more of an adviser to us. She is very sensitive and foresighted. So, even without laying rules, we knew our boundaries and made up for each other's inabilities. Perfectly balancing each other out. After Lexi left the group, another person replaced her. “Now that you are complete,” Sly continued to address them. “Pack your things and get ready to leave tomorrow. It is of the utmost importance that you act properly when you are there, as you will be representing the whole pack. Understood?. "Yes, alpha,” they all hollered. Hopefully one or two of you can find your mate.” He teased them, and everyone laughed. “Now for the rest of you, as our numbers have decreased, we will have to do our best to protect the pack until they return. It will be a lot of pain and overwork, but I hope you all do your best to keep our pack safe. After they return without any incidents happening here or there, we shall have a huge party for everyone.” They all yelled happily at the top of their voices at the thought of a possible party. “Now that is why he is the man for the job. He knew how to raise their morale,” I said in my head, glad that I had a twin. After addressing them, they all left. I saw my sister stomp out angrily. "Mate,” my wolf whimpered in my head. “We just met mate, but we haven't spent time with her,” he whined. “She is human. We need to go gradually with her so we don't scare her off, which is why we need Lexi’s help. You will be able to see her soon. Now quit whining.” He finally relaxed and retreated inside. “Lexi, meet us in the office; we need to talk.” I mindlinked her after everyone had dispersed. She was there within minutes. She pushed the door open and barged in without knocking. “Lexi, I have told you to knock before…” I stopped mid-sentence when I looked up and saw her face. She looked really mad. “This was my only chance to leave the pack and possibly find my mate, but you both killed that dream!” She screamed. Thankfully, we had a soundproofed office. “Why!, why!, why am I the only person you wouldn't allow to go?” “Lexi! Now you are just being disrespectful.” Sly raised his voice at her. “Just because you haven't found your mate doesn't mean I shouldn't find mine!” She shouted back. “We found our mate, and she is the human girl in the hospital. That's why we need your help! ” He screamed back. At that point, I was tired. They are always shouting, something I feel like they are twins. “Wait, what!?. The human girl is your mate?” She looked at us both for clarification, and we both nodded. “Oh my, my.” She pulled out a chair and slumped in it.
