Daisy
The weekend passed and the next week as well quiet uneventful. Yokatta, at least they're not bringing the reporting incident up. Maybe Marcus even forget about his blackmailing. Everything is so peaceful now. Probably my late night dinner warmed their heart and felt a little pity towards me. Could it be that I'm really off the hook? I've wondered while organizing some documents for Marcus. Suddenly the door of his office swung open and he looked at me.
- Grab your jacket. We have work to do! - the rushed towards the elevator and I did ad he said. I quickly grabbed my jacket made of jeans and it had cute little daisies embroidered all over. I wore a white lace t-shirt, matching jeans and white high heels. Max followed us as well and in no time I've found myself in the back of Marcus's car.
- May I ask where are we going Mr. Kane? - he smirked.
- Well, as I said I have some business to attend and since my family is keeping an eye on us, you must tag along.
- They are doing what now?! - I asked and felt my ears getting red in embarrassment. Marcus turned to look into my eyes and kept that annoyingly handsome smirk on his face.
- They didn't leave me alone and I told them about my soon to be fiance. My grandfather and mother invited us to Sicily in a months but I noticed that my father didn't eat my lies and now we have some unwanted tails wagging behind us all the time. My mother is becoming suspicious since I've never visited you in these last few days. So to avoid any more annoying peaking, you'll come with me everywhere.
- I still think this is a horrible idea boss. - Max said and Marcus scoffed.
- Any better one? I'm all ears! - Max glanced at Marcus in the rearview mirror and shrugged.
- Confess the truth and marry for the company's future.
- What if I convince my parents to adopt you and you can fulfill their dream marrying Francesca? - I saw a shiver running down Max's spine and I turned to Marcus.
- Mr Kane.
- Marcus.
- Marcus... What's so wrong with miss Francesca? From what I've heard she is an exceptional beauty and really wealthy as well.
- That's none of your business. - Marcus said and I pouted crossing my arms in front of my chest and uttered some curses in Japanese under my nose. None of my business... But he is dragging me along! He can't be that annoyed by one hickey and a little misunderstanding. Hm... - I've pulled my jacket over, and got my hair up in a pony tail, showing my neck to Marcus and he got stunned.
- What the hell are you doing?! - he asked and I looked into his eyes from the corner of mine.
- Just give me a hickey and at least one of my wrongdoings will be cleared up! - Max got so surprised that he suddenly hit the break and I almost hit my head in the seat in front of me, but Marcus held me.
- Max! Watch what you are doing!
- Sorry Marc! - he said and kept driving while Marcus buried his face in his palm but I kept showing my neck.
- Could you stop? You are not even my type! - Marcus complained and for some reason his words hurt me a lot. I thought I was over my stupid crush on him, but it looks like I was wrong. We didn't say anything for the rest of the ride. We have stopped at a pretty crowded Irish bar and got out of the car waiting in front of the door while Max parked it. Marcus turned me to look at him but I've avoided his glance.
- Look at me. - he said and I refused. Marcus pinched my side and I yelped looking at him angrily.
- Now that I have your attention. Don't cause any trouble inside. Don't talk to anyone and just try to blend in. Ok? - I've nodded and Max arrived. Inside Marcus and Max greeted a guy and they left me alone. Marcus gave a peck on top of my head and said.
- Order a nice drink babybee while I take care of something. - I've walked to the bar and sighed. The bartender was a really handsome guy who immediately tried to flirt with me offering a free cocktail to ease my mind. I refused and ordered a pint of beer instead. I've sent it down and that must've called the attention of a few idiots because in matter of minutes there were three guys sitting around me. On the other side of the counter I saw a younger irish looking girl with red locks and green eyes. A man was trying to hit on her and she looked terrified. I looked at the empty jar in my hand and had a wonderful idea to ease my mind and help a cute woman out.
Marcus
I've left Daisy upstairs at the bar hoping that nothing is going to happen while I'm in the basement with the head of the Irish Mafia in New York, Donald Mccormick. Donald greeted me kindly and when we were already in the basement we sat at a big poker table. There were a few people from his circles already waiting for us.
- Hey fellas, this is Marcus and Max, friends of mine! Behave yourselves, because despite their fine looks these guys are not kidding! - Donald pat my back and I took a seat at the table, while Max stood behind me covering my back. Donald sat in front of us and light a cigarette. He was in his mid fifties, with green cunning eyes like a fox, and copper read hair. His nose was huge compared to his tall and firm built. Despite the unusual look, he wasn't a laughing stock either. Donald kept on the palm of his hand half of the protection business and one of the biggest loan business in the city. He also owned a few legal shops to wash the money clean. The dealer dealt our cards and after a short time, it was just me and Donald.
- So... Marcus, what could I owe the pleasure to make your wallet a little lighter tonight? - Donald asked grinning at his cards. I've checked mine and kept my best poker face on.
- A little birdy said that some of your guys tried to break into my territory. I thought we are friends Donald it really hurt my heart to hear such a news. - Donald frowned and glanced at hir right hand man.
-Do you know anything about this Falcon? - he asked and Falcon nodded. Donald looked furious. He jumped up from the table and punched his man.
- And why do I have to hear it first from the offended party? - Falcon wiped the blood dripping from his nose off and said.
- I'm incredibly sorry for this inconvenience, it was a young group with too much enthusiasm. But we already taught them a lesson, please rest assured.- he said looking at me and I've chuckled.
- Good to know, but please keep in mind that next time, I'll send their heads to you as a gift. Keep the puppies on a leash if you don't want them to be ran over. - Donald nodded and we kept playing in a much better atmosphere after the cleaned up misunderstanding.
- So, Marcus! I've seen you brought a little lady with you. New girl? - Donald asked and I nodded.
- She seems, fragile a little too...delicate, are you sure she is fit into your world? - As soon as Donald said this and I tried to think it over again, we heard an awful noise from upstairs and the music died as well.
- WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? - he jumped up and headed upstairs with me and Max in his heels. When we arrived up I couldn't believe my eyes. Daisy was standing barefoot and tried to get her high heel out of a guy's shoulder.
- What the actual f**k? - Max mumbled and Daisy waved in a cute way.
- Hey guys! Sorry! I got carried away! - Donald busted into a laugh with tears in his eyes he said.
- I take it back! Delicate my ass! This little one is fragile like a bomb!
